  1. Yeah, and I won't begrudge anyone who views it differently. Certainly some would prefer chasing the .500 record and hoping to sniff a WC appearance. My father for one would absolutely be in that category. I'm 100% in the, 'let's tear this thing down and hope to get this rebuild over with ASAP' camp though.
  2. Hayes and Rosenthal seem to be getting different information if Hayes is saying the Marlins want Arraez and Rosenthal says his bat isn't big enough.
  3. I'm expecting to win a Super Bowl. Other than watching Green Bay lose, that's really my only goal at this point in my Vikings fandom. So if they can't win it now (which I never thought they could) then I wish for them to do what it takes to win it in the future, even it it means losing more games now.
  4. Well he's the only one on the roster who makes 35M, it's the nature of the position. One poor decision from the QB can lose the game, heck the season. That's rarely true of the other positions. I guess, it probably doesn't matter if we agree if he's capable of carrying a team to a Super Bowl though, because unless we think this team is going to somehow be better next year, Cousins will likely be gone by the time this team is ready to be an actual contender. I know there will be disagreements about this, but winning 7, 8 or 9 games is my least favorite place for this team to be. And with no cap space, no draft picks and a super old team, it seems exceedingly unlikely the team will be better than that in 2023.
  5. Yeah, that's fair, but I can't imagine it's all about the play calling. Don't get me wrong, he called some atrocious gimmick plays at the absolute worst times, but the execution of some basic stuff was just terrible. Like the screen/swing passes I mentioned. And the WRs working to get open when Kirk was in trouble? Where they even working to get open, or did they just stick with their routes? They rarely seemed to bail out the QB when he had to improvise. And when or when not to pick up blitzes.....I don't think any position group was on the same page in those cases.
  6. Yeah, there seems to be a lot more flexibility with the 3-4, and it's not like anyone thought they could make one of the leagues worst 4-3 defenses into a competent 3-4 defense in one year. Being terrible was always expected. ****That was not an endorsement to keep Donatell, he has to go, as they should have been bad, but not THAT bad***** I'm not sure I want Wes Phillips here either though. The offense should have been way more consistent. Still not yet answered, why was this team successful on like 1 out of 100 screen, swing and dump off passes around the LOS this year? How did those fail at such an outstanding rate? Those are staples of all decent offenses yet I bet if there's a way to measure their success, the Vikings were patrolling near historic ineptitude levels.
  7. I don't care about being competent, I only care about winning a Super Bowl. Do you honestly think that if Kirk Cousins was on the Bills, that they'd be a favorite to win it all? Stefon Diggs clearly doesn't.
  8. I'd keep Gordon over Kepler, but if the Twins were offered a solid pitching trade for Gordon, I'd do it without thinking twice. His inability to draw walks has me pretty concerned. Those kinds of players seem to be extremely inconsistent. There's probably a significant chance that last year was the best we'll ever see from him.
  9. 1). ???????What?????? Also, this is 2023 not 1983, a batting title doesn't carry much weight any more. 2). If these people compared Miguel Sano to Babe Ruth, I assume you'd want him back as well?
  10. I'd do it. Not because of any Shane Mack comps or because of his prior prospect rankings, but because the Angels are one of those teams that don't seem to do ANYTHING right anymore. So, I'd give him a shot to see if the Angels just messed up. But zero interest in more 'veteran' bats. This team needs to start filling the 26-man with players who both have potential, and the potential to be here long term.
  11. I'd trade Kepler for a box of rocks, so while I don't value Lopez as high as their other pitchers, I'd do this deal in a heartbeat assuming the other piece(s) going along with Kepler aren't terribly frightful. Bummer about Arraez though. Looks like the Marlins value him about like I do, which is far less than many Twins fans. I was hoping they'd overlook him being a one-dimensional player, but I guess not. Guessing other teams won't either.
  12. If this team blows another high pick on a DB, I'll probably lose my mind. It's not that the team doesn't need DBs, but that's one of the few positions where there's little difference between a high round pick and a mid round pick. And the Vikings are the LAST team that should think it matters. They've proven unable to tell the difference between a defensive back and a bag of donuts through two regimes now. They need pass rushers more anyway.
  13. I was in favor of firing Spielman, but it made zero sense to do it when the new GM either opted, or was told to keep all of Spielman's guys. Anyone in that building who thinks they can improve off of last year is delusional though; they HAVE to start making the tough decisions to get rid of the old, slow expensive players.
  14. They could do some of those, but there's only one player this team needs to figure out how to work an extension, and it's not those guys.
  15. Tony Pollard, Saquan Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Jamaal Williams, Kareem Hunt, Miles Sanders, Devin Singletery, David Montgomery, D'Onta Foreman, Rashaad Penny, Damien Harris, Darrell Henderson, Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, James Robinson and Alex Mattison are all free agents this year. Even if Barkley and Jacobs get franchise tagged, I think teams would rather pay many of these other guys a couple million bucks than pay Cook 10M per year AND give up draft picks.
  16. Don't you know that you should do these mid-December? January is when the Twins actually start to do things. December is when they do nothing and everyone wants to burn the site down!
  17. Yeah, Pittsburgh has the worst ownership in the league. It's nice the McCutchen got to go where he wanted. It's an absolute travesty that ownership never put an effort into actually being a contender when he was in his prime and the team was competitive. They made the playoffs each year from 2013-15. They ranked 20th, 27th and 25th in payrolls those years. Makes no sense why the other owners allow Pittsburgh to share revenue when they refuse to use it on their payroll.
  18. The page loads are quite slow for me. I assume it's this part that's causing it? This stuff is all beyond my comprehension though.
  19. Frankie Montas is only a good pitcher when the Twins visit Oakland. He ranges from average to terrible everywhere else. Lou Travino was the best pitcher the Yankees got in that deal.
  20. The only comparable prospect the Twins had to Chisholm was Royce Lewis, and after only 7 MLB starts, trading Lewis for Gallen would have been crazy. Now, trading for Gallen would probably be crazy because if the Twins trade for another guy with a damaged UCL, they'd get eaten alive.
  21. I completely agree that the Defense was 100% at fault. Daniel Jones threw for 300 yards three times this year. twice against the Vikings. The other game was when the Giants were down 24-6 in the forth against the Lions, which obviously is a recipe for every NFL QB to throw for 300 yards. I'm just saying that Cousins isn't a guy who can win 3-4 playoff games himself. The top QBs can do that. Even though it was one single play where Cousins choked, and he did choke, that was the one play all year long where it would actually doom the season. Chucking it up in the middle of the field in the vicinity of one of the WRs would have had a higher chance of success than the pass he made to Hockenson. I'm not blaming him for the loss, not at all, I'm just saying he isn't the solution. Unless the goal is only to simply be a competent team, not actually Super Bowl winning team.
  22. Ugh, this seems like it's going to be a long upcoming season. No draft picks, no cap room, a team that is old as dirt and the last two drafts may have been the worst in team history. Who are the building blocks? Anyone other than Jefferson, Darrisaw and O'Neill? 2022 was a fun year overall, but I think we're in for a pretty rough stretch now.
  23. It's not on Kirk. But the final play shows precisely why Kirk will never win a team the Super Bowl. Mahomes, Brady, Rodgers, Allen, none of them would have EVER thrown short of the sticks with no chance of a 4th down conversion and the season on the line. Sure, he could pull a Flacco and be a QB on a team that wins a Super Bowl, but he'll never beat 3-4 playoff caliber teams in a row by putting the team on his back. He'd need a great defense making most of the plays. And, the Vikings aren't close to having that.
  24. Finally a Cuban player! Wait, this isn't that serial killer from Cleveland is it?
  25. Everyone wants to pick an upset, but they don’t have the balls to pick a REAL upset do they all go with the easy pick.
