It's true, he would have, for sure. But I'm wondering if, after his spring struggles, they're keeping him around til he shows he can do the job consistently, and when they bring him up, he'd be up to stay, instead of being another cog in the Rochester shuffle.

Yeh, those numbers in recent Twins history generally show up on the other side of the ledger... Nice to have 'em in OUR box score for a change.

Diving in to the Twins Schedule
David HK commented on Matthew Lenz's blog entry in Musings from Twins Territory
True. Too often, though, the Twins have needed a stretcher after the stretch after the break. -

Folks like this who open their homes and hearts to these young struggling guys are true unsung heroes of the game. Kudos to you, Jamisea. -
Man, I can't tell you how refreshing it is to start my day with a box score instead of the headlines- especially in spring, when there are a lot of unfamiliar (or long-ago familiar) names, like: Wow, a Cameron in CF for the Tiggers- could it be? *click* Yes! It's Mike's boy! (And how about those MLB progeny on the Blue Jays who lit us up yesterday?) And I see the ghost of Jacque Jones hit a tater as well. ;-) Gibby, scattering hits, giving up nothing, and 4 Ks! Wow! Even a clean inning from A. Reed, and Peter Parker striking out the side in a clean one, too- maybe he's the real deal. And gee, this Tom Collins guy looks like a cool, refreshing 7th-inning kinda cocktail, too. I suppose when you're on the mound at a strapping 5'7", it helps to have a mean-dude beard. Happy Spring, everybody. Happy baseball, for better or worse.

Wish I could like this twice. Actually, wish I could like this about 3 X per inning, but that hasn't happened a lot lately.

Article: BREAKING: Twins Flip Granite To Rangers
David HK replied to Parker Hageman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I liked Granite a lot. I'm hoping he gets a good chance with the Rangers, and wish him well. On the other hand, wasn't he on the 40? And does that leave a spot? And is Kimbrel still out there? -
*Heavy sigh* Gosh, this guy... Look at all those big chunks of time without him, year after year after year. How can anyone hope to hone their skills with big gaps in their opportunities? Yes, some of it's from freak occurences, but come on... Yet another guy with all the God-given talent in the world, and letting it go to waste. The potential MLB lifetime is a fleetingly short window of an athlete's life. Not doing your utmost to be fit and ready for that long, physical grind is a crime. For those of us with a deep and abiding love for the game, and probably realized way back in school years that pro ball was not a part of your future- it's just heartbreaking to watch. Again.

Mike, this series has been great! Thank you for the work you put in to allow the rest of us to jog down memory lane, or be introduced to Twinkie shadows of the past. Kudos, sir!

Article: Twins Daily 2019 Top Prospects: #1 Royce Lewis
David HK replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Tell you what- I've never seen him except on highlights, but everything I read about him sounds just like The Captain. My gosh, they're practically the same size, they even have a similar (dang handsome- yes, I'm jealous) look. Except this time, he'd be playing for the forces of good, instead of evil. I'm even more excited about this kid than I was about Bux at the same point.- 41 replies

The best First Baseman in Twins history
David HK commented on mikelink45's blog entry in mikelink45's Blog
As an old salt, I appreciate this series so much! It's great to jog through the glory days- heck, even the gory daze, of Twinks history. I was just too young to actually remember Vic Power, but I started 1st grade in '65, and have been a Twins fan ever since. (Heh-- ain't it great when your team is successful when you're a little kid, and you think it's going to be that way every year?) I remember Mincher well, loved him as a Twin, but- the first time my family journeyed from ND to the actual Twin Cities to see an actual game- double header, against the A's in '70- Mincher hit a crucial double to beat 20-yr-old Bert in game 1, then cracked 2 taters off Jim Kaat to beat the Twins in the nightcap. I hated him that day. I was also listening on the crackly radio one warm summer day, when Rich Reese hit a pinch-grand slam to stop Dave McNally's 15-game winning streak from the start of the season. (God, how much did we all hate the Orioles then, anyway). The Twinks have been blessed with some real studs at 1B through the years. Waiting to see who's going to emerge as the next one. The 1st post-Mauer crop, whew... I don't know. Maybe Sano will emerge, but, it might have to be Rooker or Larnach, or.... -
First off, thanks to the crew putting these reads together. Whew - at least this one sounds encouraging. The last few synposes, Rooker especially, made me want to give up all hope once the downside portions were related. We've been tantalized for years about the Bux-Sano-Berrios axis, with a couple sweet supporting players, and that hasn't panned out so well so far... But, like the eternal Twinkie fan, I try to be more hopeful than fearful.

As per the photo atop this article- Whichever role Romero winds up in, I'm just glad that no Minny pitchers have to hand the ball back to Molly this year.

Article: There’s Hope for a Martin Perez Bounce Back
David HK replied to Andrew Thares's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Great! Now all we need is a Sano bounceback, and a Buxton bounceback, a Kepler bounceback, a Polanco bounceback, an Addison Reed bounceback, an Odorizzi bounceback, a Schoop bounceback, a Hildenberger bounceback, a Pineda bounceback.... And a closer. Then, we might even contend for the Central!! -
But if he came to Minny, at least he'd have some actual use for a beard. B-r-r-r-r-r-r......
