  1. Wow, what a thrashing. And a series sweep no less. Hey, I've got a few bullet points, too! Love the play by Eddie. (Because it worked). But still that aggressiveness when shown throughout the season, makes other teams have to keep in mind what might happen, and kind of sustained pressure can lead to mistakes in the field. All those dingers! Wow, it harkens me back to those mid-60's daze of being a young pre-schooler, when I first was aware of the Twins, in those Killer, Tony O, Bob Allison, Jimmy Hall days, when everybody in the lineup was knocking dongs right and left!Heh... Sure is sweet to hang some runs on the Angels' high-priced free agent pickups! There's a bit of wailing going on in their blog pagesHow about the job Rocco is doing, managing the lineup. working around injuries, and the bullpen, too, getting guys work, and keeping key guys as fresh as possible.Ach du lieber, I hope Max is OK. He looked awfully wobbly coming off.And finally, ahhhhh.... the Austin Adams era. I remember it well. Oh, wait, I don't think I'll have the chance to.....PS: You know, I'm having chicken for breakfast here on this side of the ocean today.
  2. Most encouraging for me were the performances of Pineda and Sano- even tho he got a sort of gift double on a ball that probably should have been caught, he hit the living hell out of it. Also glad (but a little scared, too) that Rocco trotted Duffey out for the 9th- where he looked good- and saved more BP arms. And holy moley- there was a shot at one point in last night's game of Pineda and Sano standing together in the dugout- as a tag team, they could take on the Crusher and the Bruiser for sure!

  4. Well, that cupboard was well-stocked with arms in the offseason, but we left it closed with the latch on tight. If we open it up now, there's nothing but the cockroaches left, scurrying about. I wonder if we'll join the mad post-draft rush for Kimbrel or Kuechel...?
  5. Welp, I'm just an old-school old fart, but I'm wondering how it would play back home if Ohtani-san got to wear one in the seat of the pants his first AB, just for the hell of it.

  7. Well, there will be games like this, there will be stretches like this throughout the long season. Good teams find ways to not make them last very long. Our 2 strongest pitchers so far both had rough games, back to back. The hitters didn't come through AT ALL in high-leverage situations. It's a couple of games so far, winnable games in winnable series'. Doesn't make it any less frustrating, but, there it is. Go get 'em tomorrow.

  14. She forgot to mention that left field for the Yankees that night was manned by Melky Cabrera AND Phil Cuzzi...
  15. Thanks for this, John. I was thinking of posting a similar article- and I have to echo yours, and so many of the posts here already. We all know the recent history. Just as the B-ball coach asserted, I am just totally sick of the Twinks going into Yankee series', especially in the damn Bronx, and just looking shell-shocked and intimidated from the start, with results to match. I want to see the opposite attitude this time, for once in many years. I hadn't heard Schoop's comments, but I'm glad he said it. I remember years past, back when the Kenny Lofton-era Indians were holding sway in the Central, and he and a few of his teammates flashed that swagger, and smacked down the young upstarts from Minny. I wanna see that same attitude from our boys this series. They're down with injuries and the like- I even read a non-delusional article in a Yankee blog where they were peeing themselves at the prospect of having 4 straight series- for the first time all season- playing teams with actual winning records- DBacks, us, the 'Ms, and Tampa, and how their glittering early record might take a big hit. I'm going to chalk myself up in the column of 'cautiously optimistic.' And that is a BIG change from how I've felt going into the Bronx in many, many years. They just got swept in the desert. They got a bunch of guys hurt- cry me a river. Let's beat the living snot out of these guys for a change. Foot, meet neck. Amen.
  16. I read somewhere that Logan Morrison signed with the Yanks on a minor league deal- he's supposed to join Scranton at some point. I guess not yet.
  17. Perez is looking like our solid #3, maybe even 2 right now, and Pineda more like a #5. I don't care what order they come in, if Gibby can keep gaining strength, and Odorizzi can keep his ship righted enough to get thru 6 regularly, we've got the makings of a starting staff that could help us contend all year.
  18. He (and the team) weren't helped at all by the Great Outfield Experiment, either, which ended up just messing him up for a good while. Thanks, Molly.
  19. Well, maybe they played the Orioles too much early on. They played just like 'em tonight.

  21. That would have been cool, but it was just as cool, if not moreso, to see a rested Taylor Rogers just wipe out those Houston boys in the 8th. Now, I'd like the rest of the team to just beat the living snot out of 'em the rest of this series! Announce our presence with authority! And by gum, ain't it great to get one over on Verlander once in a while?

  23. Great win- this is what contending teams are supposed to do- make hay against the bottom-feeders (Toronto series excepted). Good for Marwin to get a couple of gift Rbi's, but man, that's the CF's ball all the way, and Smith came streaking in from left, and made him pull off his line. That's just bad baseball. I love Gary Thorne, the O's usual announcer, but man, he was so over the O's making mistakes like this. Love his call on Kep's opening HR... even though I kind of feel for the guy- he's a great baseball announcer. Good work, Twinks! Now let's get at least a split out of the 'Stros!
