  1. Drew Brees got destroyed because he once again took kneeling at the national anthem as disrespecting the flag and troops. Same stance he took in 2016. When he’s been told countless times kneeling is representing the police brutality against black people. He’s a white guy who’s way too comfortable in his bubble and refused to listen and learn from others. Drew Brees with his family history gets to weave this patriotic story of what the flag means to him. And he’s ignorant of the fact that many people look at that same flag and see something completely different. He needs to open up his eyes and realize his grandpa didn’t have the same experience coming home from the war as others.
  2. And keep coming back to reply! Strange times we live in, I tell you what.
  3. I’m not reading anything in the OP that would be considered click bait or causing a divide. It’s only being done by people in the comments section. If this topic is getting people that upset, I ask why? Is it hitting too close to home when they look in the mirror? If so, I think it’s time to make that realization and change for the better.
  4. This article sure got a lot of posters to come out of the shadows to post, eh? For the stick to sports crowd on here, there’s plenty of opportunity to do so. I’m scrolling through the first page of Front Page articles... Other than the article discussing money between players vs. owners, no other article has generated even a page worth of replies. This article has almost 5 pages’ worth in 12 hours. Do you really just want to stick to sports? Here’s your opportunity to talk about Taylor Rogers for the 25th time this offseason!
  5. Can't imagine the feeling of betrayal some of these players have with this league... Imagine knowing that the owner of the baseball team you're on doesn't think your personal value is worth $10 an hour. There are going to be dozens of future major league baseball players released. Teams are mostly bad at managing the bottom 25% of their roster. I hope the smart teams take advantage and pick up some of these new free agents.
  6. When/how are top players going to make up the lost $27 million? If they opt out, will their contracts simply toll until 2021? And the contract expiration season is pushed one year into the future?
  7. A very good thread relating to this topic. I’ve consistently been pessimistic about baseball and other sports happening this season. There are several reasons why below.
  8. I was extremely jealous of Mark Buerhle. That dude was a Twins Killer. 52 starts - 30-19 record with a 3.68 ERA and 6 complete games career against the Twins. If you blinked during a Buerhle start it was already the 7th inning.
  9. I disliked the regime that gave him that contract more than Nolasco himself. He was the exact same pitcher that had an ERA 2 runs higher than his FIP throughout his tenure here. Signing him to that contract provided unrealistic expectations for him to be better than he was. With all of that being said, I was thrilled the minute he was traded away.
  10. I’ve been mostly pessimistic about sports returning this year, and unfortunately the goal posts keep getting moved 60 days out. I was hoping we would have more clarify in May, but we still have the same question holding us all back from resuming a somewhat normal life. Where are the widely available tests?
  11. I figured this project was canceled like everything else in 2020. Thanks for making my proposal a reality.
  12. Any positive spin about a potential season I’ve read makes 2 large assumptions. 1) An enormous amount of test kits will be produced in 90 days or less. 2) Players will be accepting the conditions of isolating themselves from their families for an extended period of time. I’ll leave out the test kits because it’s been mentioned in numerous other threads. Most of these players are fairly young with small children at home. That’s a big ask for any civilian to accept. These people are not trained military personnel, who are committed to protecting this country and deployed to areas around the world. They are normal civilians who happen to throw a ball harder than the average person, and hit a ball with a bat.
  13. I’m not going to rain on anyone’s parade if you want to continue hoping for sports to come back... I’m not optimistic about it. And here’s a dirty little secret, I don’t miss them that much.
  14. Yeah for being the only console baseball game on the market they’ve done consistently well for the last 7-8 years. I miss having competition for sports games... MVP Baseball was great back in the day on PS2! Madden used to be waaaay better when they had to compete against 2K Sports. NBA Live used to be a thing!
  15. Do you sim the games or actually play them? I’ve noticed some pretty wild glitches on this game... The opponent I played against hit a foul ball that should have went into the seats, but somehow the ball made its way back into fair territory for a stand up triple. I’ve also seen the pitcher bare hand a line drive coming at him, then proceed to throw the ball to 2nd base with his glove hand.
  16. I’m sure you’ll all be able to figure something out. Looking forward to a time when sports are back. Until then, it’s hard for me to muster the will to care about sports.
  17. Everyone just do your part. There’s only one blue print that’s worked so far from China and South Korea. They quarantined everyone and found a way to prevent it from spiking in the environment. I know sports has been the fabric of our society and makes us feel normal. It’s just not that important right now.
  18. 100% agreed. There are 2 players currently on the 40 who are being groomed to be the next Adrianza (Gordon and Blankenhorn) with more in the pipe. I like the progression we saw from May last year. It takes a special reliever for me to want to lock in long term after his initial service time is up. I don’t think May is that guy, and I’m confident the regime can identify another internal candidate to fill the void. If Odorizzi replicates his 2019, that will be hard to replace. He might be the one we have to bite the bullet on and sign long term.
  19. The one not on the list I’m most intrigued about is Kirilloff sticking around... Can he hit his way to a 40 man add before the season?
  20. The Xfinity ad I’m getting at the top of the page each time I click on a new thread page is not my favorite.
  21. I held onto my Denard Span shirsey way past its expiration date. There was a hole in the armpit that I happily ignored... the logo and filling on the number 2 were chipping away with each cycle in the washing machine... It finally got decommissioned into dust rags last season. What I’m trying to say is... I feel your pain. R.I.P. Denard Span shirsey 2008-2019.
  22. Today ended well. Hope y’all stuck it out, and even bought low!
