  1. I’d love to see a scenario where Kirilloff pinch hits for Marwin and they slide Sano over to 3B.
  2. Welcome aboard! No pressure... You’re just making your MLB debut in the playoffs. Go get em.
  3. Pitching hasn’t been a concern all season, even with the suspensions and injuries along the way. I will still say the offense scares me. Buxton, Sano, and Cruz being red hot most of the year masked a lot of problems at the plate. Now we’re in SSS season and need others besides them to step up.
  4. The only way this season could have gone worse for Odorizzi is needing Tommy John... I feel bad for his rotten injury luck this year.
  5. The midwest is where Covid is surging in cases right now. It's actually stabilized in Texas in recent weeks. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/09/13/us/coronavirus-cases-midwest.html
  6. Look on the bright side! We can dust off the old Kepler break out articles again written in January 2017, January 2018, and January 2019 again in January 2021!
  7. The logistics question was answered this morning. We’ll be playing in a bubble for the postseason. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2020/09/15/mlb-union-reach-postseason-deal-features-neutral-site-bubbles/5803119002/
  8. I could copy and paste what I typed in the game recap, but I’m not. He’s been an interesting case. You spelled it out perfectly. All of the underlying stats scream bad luck. He has a track record of success, and with more time, I’m sure we would see positive regression towards his FIP and other underlying stats. The next couple of weeks are going to be crucial to see if he can be the fireman this postseason.
  9. Taylor Rogers is an interesting case this year. His underlying stats scream bad luck... His BABIP is .412 which is absurd, his FIP is right in line with previous seasons, and his K/BB ratio is great. Players aren’t hitting frozen ropes off his pitches. They’re simply finding holes in the shift. You would think positive regression is coming, but unfortunately time is running out before the postseason. The next couple of weeks are going to be crucial to see if he can be the fireman for the postseason.
  10. Aaron Gleeman wrote about this on The Athletic. It may be Blankenhorn by default. Vargas was claimed by the Cubs... Nick Gordon is still unavailable to play, and Lewis has no experience playing 2B. Not to mention a waste of an option year for Lewis because Arraez is expected to be back for the playoffs.
  11. I had really mixed feelings about sports starting again back in April when there was so much uncertainty about the pandemic. Frankly I didn't have much hope that baseball would start at all when they were arguing about money up until the very last minute. It's been nice to have the option to watch baseball every day, even if I don't take advantage of it.
  12. Phew! You had me worried for a second. The way he's been playing the last 2 seasons with the Twins I hope they back up the Brinks trucks and give him whatever he feels he's worth to stay another year.
  13. Wait.... What? Has he specifically discussed retiring at the end of this season?
  14. I understand that sentiment. Relievers are the kings of SSS so the shut down heroes can come from unlikely sources. Such as Daniel Hudson for Washington last year. Left for dead in 2016-2018, then a magical run in 2019 for Washington. Now he’s back to being a dud. Similarly, Joe Kelly and Nathan Eovaldi were heroes during Boston’s run to the WS in 2018. Now Joe Kelly can’t hit a 25 foot net in his backyard without breaking a window
  15. I used to have strong takes about relievers and spending top dollar to get the top free agents. This regime’s ability to develop relievers has shut me up about that. They don’t hit on a signing every single time, but they’ve shown they have the ability to cobble together a pretty decent bullpen with spare parts. Next December when they pick up a guy and on the surface looks terrible, I’ll hesitate to assume it’s a wasted signing.
  16. Time to warm up the bus and pick up some reinforcements in St. Paul. Maybe they’ll be excited to play Major League Baseball. I’ve seen enough of Cave this year. Rich Hill should think about writing a heartfelt Instagram message thanking all of the fans over the years because he’s cooked.
  17. Will we actually see Rich Hill pitch more than 60-70 pitches? He’s being nurtured more than my 5 month old niece.
  18. Agreed, and I would add one more player in Starling Marte who would have been nice to have, but not a true need. Perhaps it's time to finally dip their toes into the taxi squad, and bring up Rooker to be the RH hitting OF like you mentioned. The dude is going to be 26 in November. He's getting close to non-prospect age.
  19. Jonathan Villar traded to the Blue Jays, and Starling Marte traded to the Marlins
  20. The Twins trade proposal in that link... David Venn panicked and came up with that on the spot. It's the only explanation.
  21. I’m becoming convinced that they miss James Rowson the most. The new coach may have the same philosophy, but the person who actually coaches the players matters.
  22. Bullpens are always fluid over the course of the season. I don't think there was anything wrong with riding him out while he was hot. Who would have guessed Fernando Rodney who was horrific with the A's would be a contributor to a WS winning bullpen last year? Hopefully Romo finds his groove again. Nothing wrong with having multiple late inning options!
  23. Wouldn’t mind bringing back Kintzler. I’ll take as many reliable veteran bullpen arms we can get for a post season run. Hard pass on everyone else listed. I can’t imagine Falvey wanting to bring back Lynn after he spent 4 months pouting about being on the 2018 Twins on a 1 year deal.
