  1. We could have afforded Story pre-trade. But now this allows the Twins to sign Story to a $20-27.5 million AAV contract and be in a position to take on another team’s salary dump for pitching… Maybe San Diego thinks about shedding a contract on their pitching staff now that Tatis Jr. will be out 2-3 months. Oakland is always a wild card who could trade one or both of Manaea and Montas.
  2. My immediate reaction is I love it. Much, much better than the trade yesterday. Keep it up!
  3. For the record I’m still very much on the Trevor Story bandwagon.
  4. Gonna be a wild next week with transactions and potential trades.
  5. The Vikings have not been over .500 in 2 calendar years. There’s really not much to lose retooling the roster for a better future. Changes are on the way… In the next 7 days we’ll see at least one long time Viking no longer on the team.
  6. 100% solidifies my thought that Kirk fetches a 1st round pick. Wentz is constantly injured and a clear downgrade from Kirk at QB. Wentz is a 20 ish ranked QB in the league.
  7. Would have been better if YouTube expanded their coverage so it was free for people to watch the coverage. $5.99 a month isn’t terrible, but MLB knew what it was doing hiding behind another paywall for their content.
  8. Carr is a borderline top 12 QB in the league and the worst QB in that division by far. Pretty amazing.
  9. Kirk Cousins will fetch at least one 1st round pick. Too many desperate teams needing QBs. Come on Carolina! Give us the 6th overall pick. Come on Pittsburgh! Give us #20… Come on Wash-… You know what, never mind.
  10. Gotta wait just a little bit longer for the demise of Green Bay… Him staying increases Kirk’s trade value though.
  11. Welcome to the front page! The pitch clock, when enforced, is not even noticed by the fans. I attended several AAA games in Texas and the game moved along smoothly without a hitch. It’s ironic to see players like Yu Darvish adhere to the pitch clock rules during a rehab stint, then take 30+ seconds to throw a pitch once he appeared in the majors again.
  12. My pre-combine crush was Sauce Gardner and I no longer think he’ll be there at 12. If he is there somehow I’ll sprint to the podium with the card. I’m also quite skeptical of Stingley Jr. Can’t say I’m excited to draft someone with injury concerns and regression since his true freshman year. My question that won’t get answered is why did he lose the drive/interest in being the best CB in college football once the team started to suck? Not a good look. Ojabo looks like a perfect fit for the new 3-4 defense here. I’m a big fan. Davis would be a fit if we release Pierce, which is certainly possible. Malik Willis looks like the QB who is sky rocketing up draft boards. I’m still not sold on taking a QB in the first round of this draft.
  13. You can take solace that the content isn’t meant for you, unless you’re a 12 year old kid… It’s going to take out of the box thinking to make up ground and capture the attention of kids. My old man yelling at clouds moment is watching other people play video games instead of playing it yourself. But that concept has made many people into millionaires, and the platforms that support them very valuable.
  14. If MLB thinks people are waiting around for them to return they will be sorely mistaken. The landscape has changed dramatically since 1994/95. There’s so much content to consume on Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, YouTube, etc that it would take the rest of our lives and then some to watch it all. The way we follow and consume live sports has changed. Baseball doesn’t exactly have a ton of content creators and influencers to attract a new audience. And consumer’s habits have changed. People prioritize doing other activities outside rather than watch TV for 3.5-4 hours every day. The impact will be noticeable now, but it’s been a long time coming. It’s been out of sight, out of mind for kids and teenagers. And once they become adults with dispensable income, they won’t be spending that on baseball…
  15. I think it’s important to note that some people in our community is still living out their dream to be a baseball player, since most of us are no longer in the best shape of their lives. Kudos to @Andrew Mahlkeand good luck this season! Let’s all rally behind our guy, who came onto the scene at Twins Daily and earned his way to being a Front Page writer. We’re rooting for you kid!
  16. Sign me up. Helps us get under the cap while quietly shopping Kirk before the draft.
  17. None of this has anything to do with the post Brock replied to. Where Chief essentially said to break the players union and open up camps to anyone and everyone. It’s an opinion I disagree with very much. I’m going to regret even responding to this because I’ve seen this same talk track from you over and over again. Comparing any professional athlete’s salary to the average American household is always going to disappoint. They are paid to entertain, and master their craft at an elite level against the best competition in the world. If you think MLB players are the most fortunate players in sports, I urge you to look into NBA salaries. Where a backup point guard makes 8 figure salaries. The CBT hasn’t increased in line with revenues in baseball. If they did, it would be $297 million. Listening to Michael Kay this week, it sounds like the CBT is intentionally left lower to put a Governor on Steve Cohen’s spending. Him spending like a drunken sailor is bad news for the other billionaire owners who want to cry poor and have $50 million payrolls.
  18. If MLB plays 140 games the owners still get the full payment from their Regional Sports Networks. Would it surprise anyone that this was their end goal to eliminate 22 game checks while still getting their full TV money? I’m disgusted with the league and will be taking time away from it.
  19. The Vikings have been pretty quiet so far while other teams start working on their restructures. We still need to make a play or 2 in order to be cap compliant by March 16th. But it’s not an insurmountable task. Frankly, all they have to do is convert Hunter’s $18 million roster bonus to a signing bonus and we’re pretty much there. The beauty is we don’t need a mutual agreement from Hunter to do this. This move alone saves $14 million on the cap. One more minor move like cutting CJ Ham (who could be easily re-signed) and we’re absolutely cap compliant.
  20. Whelp. I’ll tune in tomorrow to see if a deal is struck in the final hours before MLB starts canceling games. If there is no deal, which appears to be the outcome, there’s going to be a lot of angry baseball fans.
  21. This Canada road trip has been brutal. It’s also highlighting our weaknesses for a playoff run. We’re not going anywhere without a center who can win faceoff draws more than 30% of the time. Giroux would fit the bill, but I’m not sure he would waive his no trade clause for the Wild.
