  1. If that isn't a billion dollar idea, I don't know what is... I mean, I would tune in to see who would deliberately tank that game for the #1 pick. Wouldn't you?
  2. Excellent use of ellipses, Mr. Brooks.... It's mind.boggling. to keep Polanco rotting on the bench.
  3. You and me both, Mike.... When I see them, I know it's the end of a thought... or dramatic pause is needed while reading.
  4. What's wrong with ellipses? Though I do use them quite a bit as a crutch... to separate my train of thoughts.
  5. I'm trying to imagine who would greet us at the gate of RB World.... The band members from Bulletboys? W.A.S.P.? White Snake?
  6. On that particular evening, no, I most certainly did not. But, I did redeem myself 12-13 years later when I saw her at a random bar in the Twin Cities!
  7. I'd really like to be a human being in the same room as TR and PM. Quite frankly I don't think flies comprehend English.... I mean, they never oblige when I say to them "Get out of here, fly!"
  8. Genie in a bottle takes me back to an embarrassing time in my life... The year: 1999. I was 9 years old at the time, and heading to my first co-ed Halloween party at a girl's house down the street. The party was going well - there was a punch bowl, and a bunch of snacks on a folding table in the garage. Also in the garage was the dance floor. The girls were in one corner of the dance floor giggling about something... I didn't get the scoop on what. Then, the next song played on the jukebox: Christina Aguilera "Genie in a Bottle" Apparently this was the perfect song for the girl who had a crush on me to make her move. This girl, let's call her Paige in order to protect the innocent, approached me on the side of the garage near the punch bowl and snacks. Her next words.... "I want to be your genie and make your wish come true." Paige then leaned in to kiss me on the lips. Remember, this is when I was 9 years old.... I was shocked that this was happening! So shocked, that I knocked her backwards INTO the punch bowl and snacks. The table collapsed, and she was humiliated. Turns out I ran into Paige during the college years, and she brought this story up over 10 years later. It was blocked out of my mind for years, but when she told me the story, it all started coming back. I was a real smooth cat back in the day....
  9. * Cue up Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You" and pictures of sad, lonely animals *
  10. As I look out of the window in my office and see thunderstorms roll in, reading this piece is very fitting this morning. There's going to be a lot of stormy days with this franchise until the young players step up their game.
  11. Wow, that is embarrassing. Kind of validates that leaders aren't developed, they either are, or aren't leaders. If someone needs to tell players like Mauer, Plouffe, or Dozier that they need to be a leader, they will never be one.
  12. Leadership isn't something that an organization can develop. Either you have it, or you don't. As far as acquiring a team leader, that's a different story. I couldn't tell you why they haven't done it the last 6-7 years...
  13. I think there's something to say about not having the right type of leadership needed for this team, this season. However, Torii Hunter isn't the only former MLB player or current MLB player who's able to crack this code.
  14. I tuned out when it was 8-0. Clearly that was a terrible choice tonight...
  15. 4th consecutive game with multiple hits for Buxton! If we were playing NBA Jam, "He's on FIRE!"
  16. It would be absolutely mind.boggling. what the Twins would have to offer to get Trout. I'd love for this team to be in a position to acquire the best player in the game. Unfortunately that's not the case.
  17. Lots of positive nuggets on this thread today. Buxton once again with multiple hits in a game; his 3rd game in a row doing that. Jay seems to be finding his groove over the last couple of starts. Hope he can keep it up! And LeBlanc has one of the best mustaches on the team!
  18. That's a good point too. There needs to be some middle ground between the Pohlad's who don't hold upper management accountable for on-field failures -- and Jerry Jones who probably dictates when you're allowed to use the restroom, as well as fire you if you don't have the same opinion as him.
  19. Yeah the Yankees may not be the best example, simply because they had the resources to over pay anyone they wanted. I certainly wish the Pohlad's would sell so we could have an owner invested in the product and spends more money... I just don't think an owner has to be hands-on fully invested in baseball to make a difference. If they have the right baseball people in upper management, and they're strictly the finances behind the scenes, that can work too.
  20. I don't think there's anything wrong with having hands-off ownership, as long as they stay competitive with the market rate on payroll... Heck, a lot of the hands-on owners that come to mind are ego-maniacs and end up sabotaging their team's chances (Al Davis with the Raiders, Steinbrenner trading every prospect he had for veterans, Jerry Jones and Mark Cuban going insane in Dallas) I don't know this as fact, but I'd be willing to assume that billionaires invest in tons of things they don't have a direct interest in.. Even sports teams. They just know they're going to make boat loads of money from it. If they trust someone else to be the real baseball mind, I'm fine with that. I believe we're all in unison that Terry Ryan should not be that baseball architect anymore.
  21. Very glad to read about Buxton's success in AAA so far! 13 7 hits against Stewart? Woof. But still good that he only gave up 2 runs. Must have pitched out of a lot of jams. Was the other team just finding holes in the defense last night? Or were they getting hard hits against Stewart? EDIT: I should read more carefully. Carry on.
  22. I'm with you. There's no path for Rogers to make it as a SP in the MLB. There's always a need for a lefty out of the pen, and will most likely be his best chance to stick on an MLB roster.
