  1. No offense Jeremy, but I hope you're completely wrong about Runzler and/or Boshers coming up to the MLB later on this summer... Maybe you see differently when watching the games. As a fan from a far, I don't really see the point in adding a 31 and 28 year old to the mix when there's younger talent to choose from.
  2. We'll just have to agree to disagree. You value Hu much more than I do, and that's perfectly fine. On to the next tangent or topic we go.
  3. I didn't see the rest of the game thread on Friday... Was their a photoshop competition? On days that Berrios pitches, I'm laying back on the couch, taking in the sun, and chillin like this bear.
  4. This was the last roller coasters I've been on at Six Flags Fiesta TX in San Antonio... *Warning, this video may make you dizzy* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyqGUoTnuZs
  5. How quickly we forget about the Neil Cotts MEGA trade in August... 2 franchise changing trades last season I can understand that argument, and like I said before, TR could have done plenty more before the very last minute to improve the team. Again, if there was zero activity last year at the trade deadline, TD would have imploded with rage for not going for a playoff spot, and probably would have burned Target Field to the ground.
  6. I'm not one that screams on roller coasters either, and use that exact justification that if a 12 year old kid can go on this ride safely, so can I. I do remember 6-7 years ago going on the Renegade roller coaster at Valley Fair. We packed in the front car to see the big drop first... Unfortunately, the cars stalled 3/4 of the way up the chains... The height didn't bother me that much, it was more thinking we actually have to somehow get off this ride and walk down the incline.. Luckily there was a maintenance guy that walked up and got the ride back in working order..
  7. What were the Twins supposed to do last year except make trades for relief help? TR banked on one or multiple young RP's to be ready last year. He did it again this year, and we're still waiting for any young RP to make their way up. We were still rebuilding last year, that I agree with. But there would be a ton more bickering and calling for TR's head than there is now if he did not give the illusion that they were going for a playoff spot. There was plenty more that TR & company could have done to take advantage of a lucky May. Hu is certainly underrated alright. If we took a poll of most casual Twins fans, they wouldn't have a clue who Hu is, other than reading the occasional Hu? joke on TD... The Rays probably took advantage of the Twins... who knows. IMO there's bigger blunders to tally up for TR than this trade.
  8. Yes, those were very frustrating times in June-August last season... When we were all begging to get anyone with a pulse to come in and save the bullpen. I will also fault him for saying the bullpen was the "top priority" this off-season and basically punting the position minus a couple of minor league signings. I still don't care whether or not Hu is in this organization. He's a lottery ticket that's working out well in a SSS. The Twins hit the lottery last year by getting the 28 best innings in Jepsen's career.
  9. That's underselling Jepsen a bit. He pitched 28 innings that were way above any expectations last season that kept the team in contention. Clearly it hasn't worked out this year. I would have traded an A ball pitcher for even a rental player when a team's close to the playoffs 100% of the time. They got another year of control on top of that.
  10. Unfortunately I'll be missing this game tonight. Going to a crawfish boil along with getting my fill of vodka and beer! Then the after party shenanigans... As Gardy once said, "We'll be back tomorrow night, I can promise you that."
  11. On this particular day, it's best to not look. Imagine the Zach Jones thread on steroids.
  12. Brilliant! If the worst case scenario happens tonight, at least there's a blank slate for a photo shop contest!
  13. Lots of tension in the other threads.. I suggest we take a deep breath, let the dominoes fall where they may, and be like this bear today.
  14. Yeah if I remember correctly, one of the things teams were scared off from was Cook being a 5th year SR and not being elected as one of the captains on the team. Who knows if there's any merit to it, or if it's just NFL teams over reacting.
  15. I think it's safe to say McShay hasn't watched a second of Gopher football... For those like me who are too cheap to buy Insider, his write-up on Leidner is also found on Twitter... He projects him to go 25th overall to the Dallas Cowboys: "Leidner shows some upside as a passer, but I'll be looking to see if he can improve his accuracy (59.5% completion rate and 14/11 TD/INT ratio is 2015). Listed at 6'4" and 237 lbs, Leidner has ideal size and has shown the ability to make plays with his legs off designed runs and scrambles. He's a late riser to keep an eye on, similar to Blake Bortles and Carson Wentz. http://cdn3.sbnation.com/imported_assets/1553645/funny-gif-Steve-Carell-laughing.gif
  16. Encouraging to read that Jay bounced back nicely after getting roughed up the last time he was on the hill.
  17. To celebrate, let's give Gonsalves that much deserved call to Chattanooga. What do you say Twins?!
  18. Good call. I didn't realize this was his first taste of AA ball.. Since he's 24 I assumed he was repeating the level.
  19. Yeah maybe he's not a product of marketing since he was highly touted even before the draft. I just don't know if the Twins did him any favors by pinning the hopes of an entire organization on him and Sano...
  20. Speaking of time, isn't it getting close to that time where Palka gets the call to AAA too? Seems like that team could use a spark offensively too...
  21. Anybody else feel that Buxton was a product of Twins marketing? Don't get me wrong, he's a very "toolsy" player and can still work out (hopefully). However, back in 2012-2014 when this organization had virtually no hope to sell, even casual fans heard the pitch of "Just wait until Buxton and Sano make it to the big leagues! When that happens, nothing's going to stop us now!" I can't remember a prospect hyped that much since Joe Mauer... It also didn't help that he was the #1 or #2 rated prospect in the MLB for 3 years running. We've gotten prospect fatigue with Buxton, and are now frustrated by the fact that he's not ready to be a star on this team.
