  1. I'm pulling for Coastal Carolina specifically because of this coaching rant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EChnZTJicw
  2. I remember earlier in the season he was trending towards earning a gold glove at 1B. Is that still the case? It's disappointing that Joe's bat has disappeared lately, but there must still be some value in the glove. For the duration of his contract, IMO he should be a consistent starter at 1B again next season, then transition to DH and a part-time role for 2018.
  3. Wow the procedure sounds pretty serious. Removing part of his rib bone to alleviate pain? Ouch.... Good luck to Hughes on his recovery.
  4. I wouldn't have to keep calling in the middle of the night if you would just listen and go to the start menu on your computer!
  5. I'm pretty sure I caught the bitter end of using telephone books. I do recall looking up friends' home numbers in the phone book, and getting frustrated because I didn't know their parents' first name(s). Then 411 came along in the mid-2000's to start eliminating the need for phone books... Now here we are, just a google search away from finding any phone number.
  6. But grandpa snydes, how did they know you wanted pizza without sending a
  7. Agreed. For a HS arm he appears to be progressing along nicely. I would imagine next year Stewart repeats AA for a month or 2, then moves up to AAA. All depending on his performance, of course.
  8. I have no idea if this Arizona pitcher is a future MLB prospect or not. Either way it's another example of the NCAA and these schools exploiting athletes for the sole purpose of earning more money for the university. It's hard to argue that they're doing these kids any favors preventing future arm injuries.
  9. It's also pretty telling where this organization is currently when May, and the occasional mention of Pressly/Gibson are the only MLB arms people would keep.
  10. That's going to be a fun story to tell future kids/grand kids one day about land lines... Believe it or not little Tommy, there was a time when we didn't have hand-held computers in our possession at all times. We used to have to call people at their house to see if they were home and available to play backyard baseball that afternoon.
  11. Pitchers - Berrios, Gonsalves, May, Stewart, Jorge, Romero, Chargois, Duffey Position Players - Buxton, Sano, Kepler, Polanco, Gordon, Dozier, Mauer Who Molly would keep: - Danny Santana - Tommy Milone - Danny Santana - Eduardo Nunez - Danny Santana - Trevor Plouffe - Danny Santana
  12. My go-to with telemarketers is saying "I like turtles" *click*. It'd be interesting to see the call notes on me from the college I attended when they're making donation calls.
  13. Vargas has been quietly heating up the last week. SSS alert, but he's hitting .300/.417/.800 with 3 HRs and 5 RBI the last 7 days. I wouldn't mind seeing what he can do on the MLB club since Park has continued his struggles.
  14. I'd be interested to find out. But this is Minnesota, where there is an irrational fear that everyone who leaves will develop into a future HOF player.
  15. Thumb out for me. I feel like the thumb out adds more to the gesture.
  16. "Having 6 kids crammed into two bedrooms and one bathroom between them was clearly the work of an Architect that just didn’t care anymore." Correct. With a family of 9 in a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom house, clearly he designed the existing square footage wrong. No family of 9 gets along in a 1 bathroom house... Sure they showed the life lessons learned, and the good times the family had. What DIDN'T they show?? Well, how about those mornings when Marsha needed the bathroom mirror to brush her hair 100 times? Meanwhile Jan needed to shower, Peter needed to shave, and Mike needed to spend some time reading the newspaper if you catch my drift. All before they had to be dropped off at elementary, middle, and high school.... I'm calling shenanigans here.
  17. That is true, Plouffe has a longer track record than Nunez. The team that would acquire either or of these players are just looking at them as rentals for the next 3-4 months. That's why I'm skeptical why a team would prefer Plouffe's .662 OPS over Nunez's .816.
  18. I'm sure we can all agree to prefer trading Plouffe over Nunez. What other team in the MLB would want Plouffe over Nunez is the question. I can't imagine many do.
  19. The Royals are looking into Jose Reyes? Ick.... Any of those names would work for me as far as a return for Eduardo. Thanks for putting together this list so we can think about a realistic target for trading Nunez.
  20. Boy I hope not. I saw enough of the failed experiment at SS last season to never want to see that happen again.
  21. No need to tell me. I got the ball rolling on this thread of how bad Santana has been
  22. Arcia and Santana are both fringe players, I think we can all agree to that. However, athletic light hitting players are certainly more readily available than players that can hit for power.
  23. I get where you're coming from. It's a paper thin rationale, but that's probably what the Twins are thinking. We can chalk it up to having no backup plan in CF, and them being fascinated by a player who's been nothing but terrible offensively the last 2 years.
  24. Well first of all, Castillo is 28 years old. There's not a lot of growth left there until he hits the decline years. Second, the Red Sox are in the thick of the AL East race. If he's not going to help a contending club, there's no reason to keep him on the 25 man roster. Big differences between Arcia and Castillo's ages, and where the organizations are currently at.
