  1. One, or multiple, of these players needs to go to clear up the situation heading into next season - Escobar, Nunez, Polanco (out of options in 2017) Dozier. Dozier IMO provides the best return for the Twins, he'd be first on my priority list. Quite frankly I'd shop all of these guys around the league and see what we can get.
  2. How much longer do we have to read about Berrios in the Minor League forum?
  3. It may be worth it if FSN airs it, loses the right to broadcast games, and the Twins get a better TV contract. Chief, you know what to do. Take one for the team!
  4. How are we going to recognize you on TV? May I suggest going to the game with a painted chest?
  5. Preller was the butt of all jokes about bad GMs the last couple of years, but he's taken 2 assets and flipped them for decent returns within the last year. A strategy that our FO has yet to capitalize on....
  6. He's not doing well. .199 BA. Had a hot month in June but back to below the mendoza line so far this month. Certainly a drop off in production from Suzuki to Murphy but it shouldn't really matter this season.
  7. Does it matter this season? I would rather have 2 months of MLB data to see if Murphy is a legitimate candidate to be a full time C for 2017-18.
  8. I don't really see a case for keeping Suzuki this season. Worst case, if the cupboard is bare in 2017, there's nothing stopping this team from resigning Suzuki or a Suzuki type in FA. Trade him now, gather data on Murphy the next 2 months, re-evaluate in November.
  9. Before you consider taking a vacation to one of the hottest destinations in the country, Chief's house, I would strongly consider reading the latest reviews on TripAdvisor. Here's one for example: Betty in Ohio: Our family was very excited to book our flight and lodge to Chief's House. We were referred to go from one of our friends who says Chief tells the best jokes, and Mrs. Chief cooks the best meals. What we were NOT warned about, however, is what happens if you sit in Chief's chair in the living room. My husband chose Chief's chair to sit in after dinner, and Chief was NOT happy about it. He told us to "GET THE F$%# OUT OF HERE, RIGHT NOW!" Started throwing our luggage out of the window, and chased us down the street holding a baseball bat. 5/5 stars for the food, 1/5 stars for the hospitality. And for the LOVE OF GOD, don't sit in Chief's chair.
  10. Can't argue with you there, Chief. We've been beaten down by the "small market, woah is us" mentality that the Twins have been portraying the last 20+ years. Instead of challenging the status quo of a Hamels, Tulo, or Price acquisition being unrealistic, we've accepted it. I would love to witness a time where the Twins ARE in the thick of contract/trade negotiations with the Hamels, Tulos, and Prices of the world.
  11. What other bold options were available last year? I was all on board for a Tulo trade, but that wasn't very realistic. They weren't going to be in the running for Price or Hamels. That leaves... Papelbon? Mark Lowe?
  12. (Sidenote: I offered to take $125,000, play as a feel-good story in the GCL for the rest of the summer and accept being cut the day the season is over... I'm still waiting for the team's counter-offer.) Counterpoint: If the Twins want to offer $120,000 to a 26 year old RH knuckleball pitcher who once topped out at a whopping 74 MPH in high school, I'm available.
  13. Yeah I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt with the 750 PAs. I figured there's a chance some bottom feeding team could give him 400-500 PAs as a 27-28 year old to see if he can be an MLB player.
  14. When it comes to all-star voting in baseball, there's a mix of players that get voted in on career accolades, and players voted in on current season success. Did Derek Jeter deserve to be an all-star 14 times? Or did name recognition and past accolades help him make the roster? I'd say a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.
  15. To piggyback off of mikelink's post, I imagine Meyer's going to tumble a few spots on the list, and potentially Reed off completely to make room for the on the rise guys. Would Randy Rosario also be considered to fall off the list? I've read your reviews that he throws hard with good secondary stuff. You would think that should generate more strikeouts than he has so far, right? Is he just not getting his k pitch in the right location? Or more of a pitch to contact guy?
  16. We've reached the point where no one even wants to take on Jepsen's salary.... sad, really.
  17. In the spirit of keeping this thread positive, any day where Sano is at 3B is a great day. I hope to see 65-70 more great days the rest of the season.
  18. That right there is why I have mixed feelings going into the 2nd half. The fan in me wants to see more wins and improvement. But I also want changes in the FO, and like you, I'm afraid if we do see significant improvements from the .350 win percentage the team currently has, we won't see the changes most of us are asking for.
  19. Those are mind blowing numbers. Something I never take into consideration when I spend $60 for a game at Target.
  20. All good points. Video games are a tricky business. They need to make games more difficult to appeal to the hard core gamers of the world, but once they're too hard, it loses the casual gamers. I know for me I was out from the Call of Duty franchise for good once I was out of college and couldn't play for hours on end. It'll be interesting to see who comes out on top from this 3-4 company race to be the market leader of VR.
  21. I should be in the target demographic for VR... Mid-20's, grew up with video games, still love them today when I have the time, and disposable income. None the less, I have zero.... ZERO interest in virtual reality gaming. And don't know anyone that is interested....
