  1. A 40 man for 40 man swap. Doesn’t seem like a big deal. We get some more middle infield flexibility for $3 million less. I like what happened today.
  2. If he can start 98 games at SS he can play 3B. This is basically getting Urshela’s value for $3 million less.
  3. Farmer won’t prevent them from signing Correa. He looks like a break glass in case of emergency SS if they strike out on Correa.
  4. Cody Bellinger was not tendered arbitration. What a strange career trajectory he’s had. 24 year old MVP in 2019 to completely broken 3 years later.
  5. Then take advantage and trade him.
  6. Just saw that as well. Clearly Falvey and Levine see something that we don’t as fans. I really don’t understand it.
  7. I posted in the arbitration article yesterday I could go either way with tendering Urshela. Looks like that question was answered today. Miranda at 3B full time and an extra $9 million to spend on another player. Looking forward to seeing what we do with the savings.
  8. I don’t like the M hats one bit. But the jerseys look slick. I am a big fan of going back to the grey pinstripes for the road jerseys.
  9. I like the jerseys overall. The only thing I dislike are the M hats. Big swing and a miss there.
  10. Limited practice participant yesterday. Not much we can do about it. He’s gotta go through the new protocol and can’t rush him through. Hopefully he’s cleared to play on Sunday.
  11. It’s identical to the Eddie Rosario non-tender decision 2 years ago. Urshela is a slight overpay for the value he provides. I lean towards tendering him but can absolutely see the reasons why it’s better off to let him go. Is there really a drop off between the WAR Urshela provides vs. Miranda? 2 WAR is not a high bar to clear if Miranda really is a core player now and in the future. What else can we do with an additional $9+ million to spend on free agents or trades? Is having him on roster better than spending that money on a high end bullpen arm or Correa + Rodon + Abreu?
  12. Good article Nick. I agree that Urshela is the most difficult decision and I can go either way. He’s a fine 2 WAR player with some clutch moments in 2022. $9-10 million is a slight overpay but not too egregious. Hypothetically if he were a free agent right now, and we just signed him to a 1/$9 million contract, I don’t believe fans will be waving their new rebranded Twins flags in celebration.
  13. There are plenty of receipts on TD to show I was a big supporter of Sano during his first 5 years with the team. There were ups and downs of course, like the disastrous RF experiment in 2016 and the total reset needed in 2018. But I still had hope he would develop into a balanced slugger. Whether it’s the injuries stacking up, feeling like he made it and didn’t have to work as hard, or a combination of both, he did not become the balanced slugger. My tune changed with him in 2020, and by 2021 I was ready to move on from him. It’s unfortunate because he did have immense potential to be more than a 3 outcome player. And now his MLB career is on life support.
  14. Why own a team when you can own an entire neighborhood? They can collect rent from shops/restaurants and rent from apartments built above the shops/restaurants.
  15. Boy, this sure sounds similar. I’m old enough to remember when the Pohlads made this same plea to the public that a new stadium is needed to make the team competitive.
  16. Legumina is an off the radar add for sure. Doesn’t make a lot of sense from the stat sheet but obviously they have way more info to feel good about adding him.
  17. I can confirm dugout mugs are legit. I got one for a work colleague who’s a Phillies fan. He said it is a high quality product. They run promos on social media for 30% off.
  18. 3 guarantees in life. Death, taxes, and fans wildly overreacting about depth signings. He’s making $50k over the minimum and can be easily DFA’d if other opportunities present itself. Every team needs depth. That’s all this signing is.
