  1. There goes my priority list of RP to sign (Feliz and/or Holland) This off-season can't end fast enough.
  2. Could you imagine all of the GRIT and determination produced by 50 Nick Punto's? If you put 50 Nick Punto's on bike generators, they could power all of NYC!
  3. Welcome to the boards! Great first post. Hope we'll see you chime in more often.
  4. Instead, Falvey and Levine are like that one guy in your fantasy football league that makes no trades, no pick ups.... Just rolls with the same lineup all season. And you and your buddies say, "Did Thad check out? He paid his league fee right? Cool, free money!"
  5. He's a dad now, so what would dads do? I'm going with clean eating and elliptical.... Gotta keep the joints fresh!
  6. Greg Holland is potentially a sexy signing, depending on his recovery from TJ surgery. Guy was a shut down reliever for KC for a few years. As I said on page 1 of this thread, he's high on the priority list to sign. And again, a SS and 4th OF would go a long ways in balancing out this roster. As well as removing D Santana / Grossman from the roster.
  7. The way it's shaping up right now, the left side of the infield is going to be very scary for our pitchers... Only Rosario could be considered average defensively on the left side of the field. I'm envisioning a lot of bunt singles and bobbled grounders.
  8. Vlad's bat was amazing. Whether the pitch was 3 feet over his head, or bounce before it reached home plate, somehow he made solid contact. IIRC he had a rocket arm in RF too.
  9. http://s2.quickmeme.com/img/1a/1af261d875655e0bf82d6d1d48a9a344629ce715e08bb16326f91cdaf76b6e6d.jpg
  10. Anyone else feel that Taboo is a little boring? Just hasn't caught my attention yet through 2 episodes, and I'm thinking about jumping off the bandwagon.
  11. Yes. Clearly this guy will never have an open mind about any of these players coming up for consideration. Revoke his privilege and move on.
  12. Let's hope old Billy is the next one to lose his privilege of being able to vote. He seems like a person who feels he has this other-worldly POWER and to make sure it's only used for good. God forbid society collapses because someone from the steroid era makes it in.
  13. It's articles like this that make me hate HOF voters. Bill Livingston from the Cleveland Plain Dealer wrote a grandstanding article and refuses to vote for anyone. "I'm not voting again until baseball decides what to do about the elephant in the room, the so-called steroid era. It was a confusing, controversial decade or so of rampant drug abuse, which has been ignored by the straw men in charge of the game. Clearly they, like many baseball writers, simply wish it would go away. But it won't." I don't know Bill, you're a grown man. Maybe you can make that decision for yourself. It shouldn't bother me so much, but I can't stand old, curmudgeon sports writers that make it about themselves instead of the players being elected into the HOF.
  14. As far as the next 2 years he's under contract, Mauer should start his transition to a platoon player next season. A good target should be 100-120 games played. In 2018, he could very well be a bench bat for the final year of the contract.
  15. Yeah Mauer will be a borderline case for the HOF when he gets there. I'm leaning towards him not getting in. When it's all said and done, he'll have as many replacement-level seasons at 1B than he has elite seasons catching.
  16. The finale was fine... Though it left me feeling if Sherlock ever was as good as I thought it was after season 1. Warts and all I'm going to miss this show.
  17. This thread has been okay so far. I've read several times on other threads "Kudos to Falvey & Levine for not caving in on making a trade" If I had a nickel for every time someone said "Kudos to TR for not caving in on making a trade" I may have 1 nickel.
  18. I don't buy it. They know Dozier is a valued commodity, and the Twins aren't going to accept a return for one of their available MLB starters. They offered what's thought to be their top pitching prospect.
  19. I don't know how plugged in Eno is with the Dodgers or Twins, but his take makes a hell of a lot more sense than the constant reports of 1:1 swap between De Leon and Dozier.
  20. "If Vegas were to put the odds of the Twins winning 72.5 games in 2017, what would people take? I said between 70 and 75." Given what we know right now, pre-trades, signings, etc. that could happen before opening day, I'd bet confidently on the under.
  21. My hope is Zach Granite shows enough to warrant an early call-up. I think he could be an ideal 4th OF for the team. Speed, defense, steals a ton of bases, and just enough bat to be taken seriously. I'd have him higher on my depth chart than D Santana and Grossman. If one of Buxton/Kepler/Rosario goes down, I'd like Granite to get the call.
  22. Then that makes sense. Just googled Cubs payroll by season and that was one of the first results on the page.
  23. Touche. I don't know why there's that big of a delta between the 2 sites.
  24. You're approximately $90+ million off in your payroll estimation. That's like saying the Twins have a $175 million payroll. http://www.stevetheump.com/Payrolls.htm
