  1. Jake Reed is sporting a nice 1.98 ERA in 27 AAA innings.... But, like we've talked about before, for some reason they've been letting him pitch once every 3 or so days all season.
  2. Yep. He's done that before in the past just to get people riled up. I don't know why people are taking his word now just because he wrote "people inside the Twins' organization" in an opinion article.
  3. That's just it. This wasn't some pressing breaking news that needed to be published immediately. Like you said, every columnist has the choice whether to post the SCORCHING hot taek, or write substance to support the story. Souhan went with writing the hot take, and included columnist jargon like "people inside the Twins' clubhouse" to try and make his take more credible. Sano has been very open about his weight and training to multiple reporters and outlets. Probably more than most other athletes in Minnesota. Yet Souhan doesn't go directly to the source for a direct quote.... Hmmm..... Souhan, or the Star Tribune editor, decided to kick Sano when he was down by strategically posting this story after he was hurt. I don't respect his opinion when he does things like this.
  4. Quality Starts since Memorial Day weekend: Gibson: 5 out of 15 starts Berrios: 7 out of 14 starts Santana: 8 out of 15 starts The stats look fine that you posted above. But, they look fine because Molitor pulls Gibson before he transforms into bad Gibby.
  5. Nice to know that good Gibby can show up every once in a while. It's still too little too late for me....
  6. I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that they keep him in AAA. It makes too much sense to keep him down until whenever that magic date is in order to gain another year of control. I wouldn't be surprised if they put Gonsalves on the same plan as Berrios. ~6-10 AAA starts and bring him up in May/June.
  7. Yeah, overall I've been fine with the development of Gonsalves this year. Some disagree and think he should have been up at AAA earlier, but he still has a chance to crack the opening day rotation next year if he impresses in camp. The numbers look great during his AA tenure, but who knows. There could have been underlying issues that the stats don't show. Such as missing his spots, and AA hitters not being able to take advantage of mistake pitches. He doesn't have overpowering stuff to make up for a lack of command. It's probably best to develop him low and slow. IMO he's probably like 9 hours into the smoking process, if he were hypothetically a brisket. The best briskets take 12+ hours to complete.
  8. Congrats on your one year anniversary at TD! To celebrate this notable anniversary, all of the members pitched in to give you a weekend getaway at one of the hottest vacation destinations in America.... Chief's house! There are a few ground rules when you visit Chief's house: - Don't sit on his recliner - Don't eat leftovers in the fridge without asking Chief first if he wants it - You have to buy at least one game of bowling for him - You have to laugh at all of his jokes Enjoy!
  9. This is really what it boils down to. The Twins have been average to above average selecting players who eventually make it to the majors. They've been average to below average selecting players that out perform the slot they were drafted at. And, I realize this is a draft-specific thread, but no team can build a true contender on the draft alone. They also need to hit on international draft signings, trades, and free agency.
  10. Looks like Slegers deserves another shot in the rotation, while Gibson could be sent to AAA and/or skipped in the rotation. Sorry, but I don't understand how Perkins "earned" his way back into the MLB bullpen. I don't expect much of anything out of him the rest of the way.
  11. Agreed. Trevor May, and maybe Chargois since he had a cup of joe last year I could see. The rest were still unproven, raw, or in the case of O'Rourke, AAAA material.
  12. I would hope so too. But he's never been a multi-inning mop up man. I guess he'd fill the role that Breslow had?
  13. No doubt. How quickly we forget how terrible last year was when games literally did not matter by early May.
  14. Cleveland is 8-0 at Target Field this season.... Is it possible to move tonight's game to a neutral site, like Manitoba?
  15. It's admirable of Perkins to get this far after a serious injury... But honestly, I don't know if I want to see him in a Twins uniform. Especially if they're playing meaningful games in September.
  16. Maybe Seth IS the Bartolo Colon in this rotation of authors..... Just a couple of clunkers lately. But if history tells us anything, the next 2 starts are going to go great!
  17. At least the operations team is VERY familiar booking flights for Vargas! They don't even have to ask for his driver's license number anymore.
  18. If we're talking network TV shows, yeah, nothing is on at this time of year.... If we can move the goalposts to streaming/HBO options, there's a ton to watch. More than any normal human could consume.
  19. Bark's living the rock star life now! Rumor has it there are now 42,000 lost pairs of socks after getting them rocked off at the Terminal Bar! And too busy for us minions
  20. It's got to be pretty defeating for Garver... Especially considering Vargas' bat has been ice cold so far in August. Not a worthy call-up IMO.
