  1. They may lose 1 or 2, we'll have a thread full of scorching hot taeks, and it'll prove 4 months later that it doesn't matter.
  2. Last week would have been an opportune time to figure out the QB situation as well. Can't imagine they have a better understanding of what they have when Rhoda threw the ball 8 times all game.
  3. These are all great points. Perhaps Francona and Maddon do a better job creating a fun culture and are better leaders than others. Because I do think, even though it can't be measured, that Francona knows how to lead a team to success better than others. Let's say Ron Gardenhire was the manager of Cleveland instead of Francona. Would the team be 5-10 games worse than their record today? I do agree that most of their decisions over the course of a season wash out, so that's probably not the best way to measure a manager's value to an organization.
  4. I'm surprised in the world of analytics, no one has come up with a good way to measure a manager's impact on a team. I do believe there are managers out there that make their teams more successful than others in the same situation. Terry Francona and Joe Maddon immediately come to mind as examples. I don't really know if Molitor is one of those managers that makes their teams more successful. Or if he hinders success with his in-game decisions.
  5. I guess that's going to be the key to success this year, run run run.
  6. http://memecrunch.com/meme/3EGUL/i-was-way-off/image.png Little did I know that the Twins would be wild card contenders this year!
  7. Stay safe out there! Also, this may be a prime time to "lose" that sweater grandma knitted you in the back of your closet..... Just got lost in the wind!
  8. Sending positive thoughts your way for your dad! Glad to hear he's in a facility that has handled hurricanes before.
  9. I'm right there with you on Perkins. But, I believe it was spycake in another thread that said Perkins is very close to reaching 10 years service time in the MLB, which is why he's up. Once he reaches that milestone, he's fully vested in the MLB pension plan. He seems like a good guy, so I'd like for him to reach the 10 year milestone. I just don't want to see him pitch anymore, frankly. Unless he has a Chet Steadman like performance left in that shoulder, of course.
  10. Hopefully 3 years in a row with 28+ HRs increases his trade value over the winter. We went ad nauseam about the concerns of Dozier last winter (coming off a career year, is he truly a power hitter, yadda yadda), and much to my surprise, bounced back again in the 2nd half to have a good season stat-wise. I wouldn't actively trade him now that the team is closer to contention than we ever imagined in 2016... But it certainly doesn't hurt to listen and shop around.
  11. The title of this thread reminded me how much I love JoJo.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-jgiwvWLzg
  12. It certainly looked like they wanted click bait as far as the motivation. And to get the same people riled up who mention $23 million salary every time they talk about Joe Mauer.
  13. The "when" of this article being published was what irritated me initially, as it was way too convenient to publish the day after Sano was injured. Frankly, this story didn't need to be published at any point during the season. The Twins are playing good baseball, and there should be other stories to focus on than a hot take piece on Sano's "optimal weight". If this were published in August 2016 when the Twins were 40-odd games under .500 and Sano struggling, I could understand. Not when the Twins are in the wild card hunt and playing well.
  14. Nothing wrong with him giving up a bomb to Logan Morrison, who's done it 35 separate times this season. I could certainly see that wipe-out slider working well in the 9th inning too.
  15. Last night was the first chance I got to see Curtiss pitch. Even though he gave up the HR, he bounced back for a quick 3 pitch K, and another K after that. He's got filthy stuff. I hope he can take over the role we wanted Pressly to be this year (6-8th inning high leverage)
  16. Concur. His outing last night was painful to watch. He has no command of his pitches, which is critical if he's throwing 88-90 MPH. Even Dick on the broadcast was confused as to what he was throwing out there. Something along the lines of "I'm not exactly sure what that 79 MPH pitch was."
  17. I'll stick with Twins Daily..... Everyone here does a great job writing content and getting several topics started. But I stay because of the community of members who comment on the stories.
  18. Hmm, yeah I could squint and see a win there. It hasn't moved the needle much to improve the organization, but still a win. I'm hoping that Falvey/Levine get a big win like the Kluber trade for Cleveland, and the Hamels trade for Texas.
  19. This is certainly one of the most memorable trades in Twins history.... The summer of Frankie Liriano was unbelievable, even if it only lasted for a couple of months. That was probably the first time I've seen a slider thrown in the low 90's. What makes me sad is that there hasn't been another trade that comes to mind over the last 13 years where the Twins are clear winners. That needs to change with the new regime.
  20. http://blogimages.thescore.com/nfl/files/2013/01/dr.-nick.jpg Hi Everybody! I was the one that did the MRI on Byron Buxton, and should clear up the confusion! I was telling Byron that there's a ham bone calling my name after the MRI. A reporter tried eavesdropping and thought I said hamate bone.... Don't worry about it! Byron will be fine.
  21. Yeah... that's fair to say. Bartolo has grown on me where he'd be #3 on my confidence list. Mejia (when he returns) and Gibson are pretty much 4A and 4B.
  22. In a playoff race, I'm not sure if I want to see more data to show whether Gibson is better, or facing worse offenses. I think as far as playoff teams go, the Twins have the Yankees and Cleveland left to play in the regular season. I wouldn't feel confident letting Gibson start in those series....
  23. Started watching White Gold on Netflix over the weekend, and now 4 episodes into the 6 episode mini series. It originally broadcasted on BBC. So far so good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bI4VqfWmZQ
