  1. I figured one of the reasons Garver has not been called up yet is not having the defensive chops to succeed at C a la Josmil Pinto... But from the sounds of it, his defense has also improved this season. I'm really at a loss why he has not received a call yet.
  2. Welcome aboard, Stevie. We figured that the owners would give a young prospect like yourself a cup of coffee in a rebuilding season! The question is, who's the Bartolo Colon in our existing rotation of authors?
  3. Sure, but that's where leadership comes into play to let the young players know the sky isn't falling... There's plenty of games left to play. Maybe Dozier gets a bad reputation because reporters seemingly only go to him for quotes in the paper. From the fan's perspective, he's leading the way complaining about the team selling, and not playing at a high level.
  4. No doubt it's deflating. However, the FO was merely reacting to how the team was playing. They wanted to make smart buy trades, and when the wheels fell off, they changed course. We could say they should have bought earlier, and I would agree with that. Not much else you can do when they play .300 baseball over the last 20 games.
  5. Agreed. They do have to find a way to motivate themselves now that the season is over. Whether that's pumping up their stats, earning their next contract, or securing a role on the team next season. Still not sure the right leadership is in place for the young players to follow.... Specifically Molitor and Dozier who's supposed to be the veteran clubhouse leader.
  6. Sounds like it's about time Dozier got moved out of the lead-off spot. It also feels like it's a weekly occurrence with Rosario having mental lapses in the OF. Sigh....
  7. At music festivals you get to see some things you really want to see! But more often than not, you're going to see things you never wish to see again... Chi talking about muddy grounds brings up a memory I wish I never saw again.
  8. It is, diehard... During the very limited times I fly back home, going to Jake's Pizza is a must.
  9. What do you learn in game threads? That we're all just a little, oh what's the right word... unique?
  10. Absolutely. After stressful or unsuccessful days at my current job, I think back to the days when I worked for the city parks department. Still one of the best jobs I've ever had. Working at a baseball field, mowing awesome designs in the OF, and lots of manual labor to make the infield look professional. Can't beat working outside when you're young and free!
  11. So Romero is at 110 innings so far. His cap before getting shut down completely is probably, what, 150 innings? It sure would be nice if 20-30 of the remaining innings were in Minnesota.
  12. Concur. There's a rewarding feeling with manual labor... I loved mowing lawn in high school because of the instant results you could see. And I'm sure my dad enjoyed the fact he didn't have to mow the lawn when he came home from work.
  13. As someone who grew up in the town, it was a lot of fun as a kid riding my bike up to training camp in hopes of getting Randy Moss's autograph! As the years went by, and autographs weren't important anymore, training camp became a bit of nuisance.
  14. Unfortunately those aren't the "sexy" jobs that millenials want.... Our parents taught us we were special little snowflakes and we could be anything we wanted to be!
  15. RB, go to Jake's Pizza and get the Oven Combo. You won't be disappointed.
  16. Whoops! The radar wasn't up... It's been a weird morning.
  17. Let's hope not. Just judging his stat line, the decline is happening quickly.
