  1. You guys!!! Today is National Fried Chicken Day! Let's hope the Twins give us a reason to eat it tonight!
  2. I'm not sure if I'm doing this birdwatching thing correctly.... Just zooming in on my computer screen with binoculars. http://mpchristianity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/man-looking-through-binoculars-600x360.jpg
  3. Midland, Michigan took our state bird!!! They have a team called the Great Lakes Loons http://content.sportslogos.net/logos/44/2595/full/kb7cj6mgw7pvkptvq1fipm3re.gif
  4. I thought Paul Bunyan's statue was the tallest man-made structure!
  5. In a heart beat. The Padres would not do that though.
  6. Hand is going to be a hot target for multiple teams this July. I don't know if the Twins should be buying when he's at the peak of his value. It's pretty cool that a Chaska guy has gone from DFA'd to All-Star in 1.5 years. I was able to bat against him in HS... Went 0-2 with 2 swinging strikeouts, and 1 foul ball!
  7. Other birds that are unfortunately ignored when coming up with a team nickname: - Pigeons - Peacocks - Storks - Flufftails
  8. Hard for the Astros to claim these intriguing arms when the Twins are ahead of them in the waiver wire pecking order!
  9. Very well said, Bird. What's also negated from the article is the Astros' rotation has been decimated by injury. Keuchel has missed the last month of action. McHugh was lost for the season. Charlie Morton has been injured since late May. Throwing all of these prospects against the wall and see who sticks was most certainly not a part of their plan for this season.
  10. Pressly can be sent down again. I just don't see him turning things around this year. This may not be a popular opinion, but I could also see a case for Duffey getting sent down to regroup. 15 ER in his last 15 IP is a cause for concern.
  11. Reed is starting to pitch pretty well in Rochester with 4 scoreless outings without issuing a walk. Granted he hasn't pitched in back to back games yet, but he's trending up. Hopefully he'll get the call soon.
  12. Nothing makes you feel old as dirt than talking about players born in 2001.... Good lord.
  13. As teenagers, it was always a race between me and my brother for the leftovers in the fridge. As brothers do, we would fight over the last slice of leftover pizza, dessert, etc.
  14. Sums up my thoughts perfectly. Hopefully this is the start of many All-Star seasons for Sano.
  15. I would be very disappointed too. We're on the same page trying to target at least a 2 with multiple years of control.
  16. It's been a fun read the last couple of pages with discussions on both sides of the fence. I've been leaning more toward contending now and next year by trading prospects for established pitching.... Frankly I'm tired of moving the goalposts for contention!
  17. Gordon would be who I dangle as a feature piece. Fill in the rest with other prospects.
  18. Well, the hot rumors are Jose Quintana, Sonny Gray, and Gerrit Cole as far as pitchers with multiple years of control. There could be more as the hot stove heats up in July. It appeared that they had other things to focus on last off-season instead of trading for established starting pitching... Trying to trade away Dozier, building up the analytics team, etc. We'll see what they do this off-season and/or in July.
  19. I get the frustration. But, there's nothing that's stopping this team from trading some of these players for top end pitching talent.
  20. I'd prefer the quality over quantity method this year. Marte sounds solid. Hope they can sign him to a deal.
  21. Much like drjim, I'm in the conservative camp when it comes to Gonsalves. He'll probably get the call to AAA soon enough, but whatever the FO is looking for, he must not have mastered it yet in Chattanooga.
  22. There's also the other side of the coin, which is putting a person in the wrong seat. A person may be really good as an individual contributor sales person, and the next step to challenge them is to give them a team of people to manage. That may not be the right seat for them, and the company already filled the seat that person was in before. Now they're in a tough spot. Promoting Gonsalves/Romero/Jorge right now may be putting them in the wrong seat, with no one else to fill that spot when they fail.
  23. Enjoy your time off the grid Tom! Nothing better than taking a couple of days off from your phone/internet to put things into perspective.
  24. Hmm, with this depth chart, I would try to upgrade Gibson with a better FA or trade acquisition. Santiago I guess I'd offer him another contract. Not sure what to think about May for next season. Will he be fully recovered by April? Or will he need to rehab in the minors until June/July? I'd feel comfortable with Berrios at the top of the rotation since he's trending up in his career. Erv probably shouldn't be counted on to be anything more than a #3/4 next season entering his age 35 season. The rest look like back-end of the rotation types. My hope is they make a splash for a pitcher who can slot into the top of the rotation.
