  1. Don't have time to do the research. I'm sure there are players like Odorizzi every off-season with a track record similar to his. Willingness to sign for cheap or reasonable terms is just your opinion, man. Unless you have inside info?
  2. I'd love a multi year commitment, but not for pitchers like Odorizzi. I concur 100% with you that pitchers like Odorizzi are available every season. No reason to lock him in. Totally separate note that you didn't comment about... I don't buy Odorizzi as a solid sell candidate either. The Twins gave up very little to get him for 2 years. Why would anyone give the Twins value for less than 1 year of Odorizzi?
  3. I don't think a player will play for the Twins long enough to have this conversation anymore. Not in this risk-averse sport.
  4. I don't buy it; but will thoroughly enjoy the crow I'll eat if he takes the next step offensively.
  5. Concur. Sounds like it's doubling down on the one thing we all agreed Molitor did poorly - over using his good relievers to the point where they broke down in 2 months.
  6. Bucholz and Pomeranz does nothing for me. The Twins have no shortage of back end rotation pitchers. Try aiming for a player who can slot into #2/3, or (gasp!) #1 in the rotation.
  7. I classified Stewart and Jay as misses because the goal wasn't to find a potential back-end starter and middle inning reliever picking at #4 and #6 overall. The Twins need a lot more bang for their buck from the draft and that's not going to cut it. If Buxton and Gordon become the starting CF and SS, hey, at least they got 50% right. Chicago Cubs nailed 4 top 10 picks in a row from 2011-2015... Baez, Almora Jr. (who took the longest to develop), Bryant, Schwarber, Happ. Houston nailed, let's say 4 out of 6 top 10 picks from 2011-2015. Springer, Correa, Bregman, Kyle Tucker. Their missed being Appel, and Aiken who never signed with them in 2014. Because of their resounding success tearing down the MLB team and drafting incredibly well, now everyone thinks that's the way to do things. It's not as easy as it looks.
  8. It also illustrates how impressive, and lucky the Cubs and Astros were in their rebuild. Everyone points to their plan as the gold standard, but don't realize how difficult it is to hit on 4 top 5-10 draft picks in a row. The Twins have missed on 50% of their recent top 10 picks with Stewart and Jay. Jury is still out on Buxton and Gordon.
  9. I don't know why this is necessary. Being a college football coach is the best gig ever. Anytime you have less than 4 years left on your contract, the instant excuse comes into play. "How can I recruit if I can't say I'll be here the whole time they're in the program?"
  10. Correct. There is no confusion what the vision is. It's been the same vision since 2015 when Buxton and Sano were called up. Problem is, there are plenty of concerns whether the Twins are building around players who won't take this organization to the next level.
  11. If they sign or acquire new players via trade, then the Twins have new players to add to the core moving forward if the others fail. I have a feeling we're going to look back on the Button/Sano era and remember one thing "Wait and see".
  12. They can stand pat if they want. I don't know how this generates any excitement for the team or desire to buy tickets. Apathy has already set in for a lot of fans.
  13. You're preaching to the choir. I've wanted this regime to be bold the last 2 off-seasons. Hence why I have no hesitations packaging Kepler with top prospects to acquire a difference maker. You can find my interest and desire in most any rumors thread for top end pitching.
  14. I was the youngest brother and my older brother obviously needed someone to shoot on in the basement!
  15. Nice to meet a few fellow goalies! No wonder why we get along... We're all crazy enough to willingly let someone shoot a puck as hard as they can against us!
  16. As someone who was a hockey goalie and led his high school team in HBP they both hurt if you're hit in the wrong place! Never was concussed playing hockey, and ironically did get concussed colliding with my teammate chasing down a Texas league fly ball. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to prevent concussions. They just happen on the ice, field, or court.
  17. Can I comment as a fan... One year deals are lame because it gives me zero incentive to invest in their success. If the player bounces back, do we really think the Twins are going to win the bid again for their rights? Since Falvey and Levine took over there have been way too many players who signed and left the organization. I can't keep up with it anymore.
  18. Well that would take away the Daily aspect of Twins Daily, no? Let's shut down all comments until March 1.
  19. My point is it is kind of irrational to worry about making a Hicks-esc trade when the people who made that trade aren't here anymore. If we hold on to that fear we'll never make a trade again because a trade went sideways 3 years ago.
  20. I completely relate with the frustration. Now is the time to make a risky trade when prices are suppressed and more teams are trying to lose more than win.
