  1. However, Polanco has started ZERO games at SS at AAA this year. He has started virtually all his games at 2B. What does this mean? 1) He presumably won't be playing SS with the Twins. 2) Dozier will be traded in short order. 3) Hell if I know.
  2. That bit about Belarus -- "While visiting … tourists are entertained by watching live corruption performances from politicians who openly engage in bribery, extortion, embezzlement and gombeenism in front of sold out audiences" -- is very funny. But I never heard of gombeenism. Will I ever hear or gombeenism again?
  3. Dante, you've been in hell too long. Rosario's has a -4 dWAR in 2016. His routes are not crisp like Buxton's and Kepler's. Of course he is a world better than Willingham or D. Young, but that is like comparing hind steak to chuck (I looked it up, okay). Rosario has zero plate discipline (18 walks in 154 mlb games) and for that to fly he had better hit like Tony Oliva or Vlad Guerrero, which he never will. So ... why bring him back up? More of the same. More of the same. More of the same. "Turn him loose, let him go ... let him say he outdrew me fair and square. I want him to feel what it's like to every moment face his death." (Brownsville Girl) Spare us the aggravation of waiting around for it to happen two, three, or five years from now.
  4. I disagree about Rosario. I don't see him making it as a major league hitter. And his D is iffy. Buxton's not ready. Grossman's a rental. Escobar's a subpar shortstop. Trade Plouffe and Dozier. Is Murphy ready? There are no answers as far as I can see. Only gaping questions.
  5. Speaking of announcers ... I'm watching the Yankees broadcast. Not impressed. Here are my favorites, in no particular order. SF Giants. Oakland A's. Baltimore Orioles. Los Angeles Dodgers. What are you favorites?
  6. One right decision at a time, no matter how long it takes. We need outfielders who can field AND hit. Not field or hit, not hit or field. We've seen that and done that too much. Kepler is a move in the right direction. He has speed and agility. He's good with the glove. He's a natural on defense. And he can hit. Dump those who can't play both ways and build a roster. Kepler's your cornerstone.
  7. What? I just happen to think our "problems" are a combination of player, coach, manager, front office. Putting all the blame on one segment of the four layers is not correct.
  8. Jays announcers talking about Park's "arm bar swing," which makes hitting low pitches hard. Hmm.
  9. To all those who ranted and raved during the game (including Bert Blyleven) about Paul Molitor's awful decision, I must say that when you are sitting on your couch you do not know the facts of what is happening in between the lines. Sometimes it is best not to have a opinion until the facts are in. And the funny thing about facts, they are seldom all the way in. In other words, I suggest to certain TD members: R-E-L-A-X (to quote Aaron Rodgers).
  10. You're right. He does seem older than he is (29 next month), but he simply is not going to be a part of the future of this team. His BA is dropping by the day ... regression to the mean. He is what he is: nothing special. So why is he taking up space on a rebuilding team? Answer: I don't know.
  11. Trade Nunez while he's hot. He's old and in the way. I like how he's playing now, which means it's time for him to go to a contender. For a few AAA batteries. It's something.
  12. 451 posts in the game thread means we're having fun despite watching a team suck. With Sano and Park in the lineup at least there's a thread (pun) of ... watchability.
  13. At least it was a must-watch last at bat by Park. It's baseball. You find the little reasons to watch again. See ya'll next time.
  14. "Paging the ghost of Jim Thome. Jim Thome, come to the front desk, please. Jim Thome."
  15. Plouffe batting ahead of Park seems like a good idea. Gotta pitch to Plouffe. Plouffee cxrushes it.
  16. Question is how will Santana make an out? I bet ... DOUBLE! ... what the HELL?????
