I've never written this before, but after seeing the replay that clearly shows that Polanco was safe at home .... fire Molitor. I can't believe I wrote it. There it is.
I never heard the hit in the face by a baseball story regarding Rosario. Thanks for sharing, Jeremy. My brother when he was about 8 got a pitched ball in the face because he was standing in the batter's box looking for a sign from the third base coach. He never played another game. When on to a success career as a face transplant surgeon. The sentence before this one is a lie. The others are true.
I agree with you about Molitor helping. Buxton's problem is wild fast swinging, not letting the ball get into the zone, going the other way with less than a full cut, etc. - all those things Molitor was a master at. My 2 pennies.
Who knew if he was ready? They apparently thought he was. He wasn't. Now we go from here, with the added knowledge that he cannot hit major league pitching by a mile. It's a good "demotion."
A small bone to pick regarding Buxton having "clobbered" it or "tore it up" (as some have written) in AAA. Like there's nothing left there for him to learn ... Buxton has a total of 188 plate appearances at AAA. It is not beyond reason that he spend substantial time there, including all of next year (and the year after that, if need be) because right now he is an A+ defender and an F+ hitter.
I like how the Tampa Bay announcers/commentators don't complain about balls or strikes that are close or even wrong. I'm sure Hawk is watching and learning.
Nunez was not an All-Star. He made the All-Star team. There is a difference. He has picked up his offensive game in the last full year of play - good for him - he made himself a semi-valuable trading chip.
Regarding selling high ... Dozier has been playing splendiferous second base and is hitting a career-best OPS this year ... if Antony has find the right piece, I'd let the Bull Dozier go.
