  1. I'm hoping for a 2nd half surge from the Twins. Something reminiscent of the '87 and '91 seasons would be great!!
  2. So, when is Gonsalves going to get a shot at the MLB? If I have to endure another Santiago start, I might just projectile, er, something.
  3. I see the Padres asked the Yankees if they'd trade Gleyber Torres for Hand. They said No. So that would be something of a guide for what to offer. OTOH: Scout.com says the Padres are looking for "an "Aroldis Chapman-like" package for the reliever." Clear as mud, eh? At the very least, Hand looks like the real deal. I'd make an offer and see what happens.
  4. Ok, so help me out with this. I saw this on the Strib site earlier today. Are foul poles painted yellow only on the 'fair ball' side?
  5. According to Tom's 'Bullpen Usage' graph, Hildenberger threw 40 pitches in his 1 appearance. So guessing they're giving him extended rest.
  6. Hughes would/should be fitted into the long reliever spot once he get's more inning in. I, too, want to see more of the Twins prospects than some else's rejects.
  7. I'm not so sure any of this matters. His pitch recognition is horrible. Throw Buxton breaking balls outside the strike-zone and he'll swing at it. If he get's close to it, fouls it off, whatever, bust him inside and dump another break ball outside. He will swing and he will miss.
  8. Getting tired of Gibson's "bad luck". Seems like game after game, he has "bad luck". But glad to see Hughes back in the pen and, maybe, adding some stability.
  9. Fantastic! I'm hopeful the Twins are finally done with Gibson and Santiago. Time to replace the mediocre with prospects.
  10. Nice to see Mejia have a better game. You can definitely call it a better game when he worked his way out of jams. Wasn't that long ago that he'd fall apart. Still needs work, but still trending up. I'll take that! Really, really need legitimate bullpen help. Can't keep running Duffey, Rogers and Kintzler out there every game.
  11. Viscosity? You want to measure how thick and sticky a ballplayer is? That's just sick...
  12. I've watched some video on Hildenberger. To me, he looks very hit-able. His delivery looks very slow and not very deceptive, which makes it easier to pickup the ball. The cross-over step is helpful against righties, but just further exposes the ball to lefties. Watch Neshek's delivery. Quick and aggressive. I just don't believe Hildenberger will be around very long.
  13. To me, just another learning moment for Berrios. Teams will be loading up on him over the first couple innings now.
  14. Reports I've read say that Pat Neshek can be had for a low-level prospect. I'm assuming that's mostly based on his age [36]. But he is a side-winder, so there's significantly less stress on the arm. Also, whomever makes the trade will only be responsible for $3m of a $6m contract. I'm just not seeing a downside here: Keep Matt Belisle or take a "gamble" on Neshek. This, to me, is a no-brainer. Of course, I'm also the dreamer that remembers the mediocre 1st half of 1987 and 1991, and how things ended up in the 2nd.
  15. In the immortal words of Crash Davis: "Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic." Personally, I don't like putting in a "closer" when the team has a lead. I think that's how we burned out Perkins with those extra faux Saves. Let them get an extra day of rest. If the team loses those games, well, you better look for help elsewhere.
  16. I don't know who the color-guy was for this game, but his laughing during the Gimenez home run made my day!!
  17. Report on yesterday's game: Twins were under the weather with a case of the Quintana's.
  18. By "join the Saints" you mean, what, exactly? OH, the MN independent team! Whew, for a second I thought Twins Daily was going really dark there...
  19. I think we can safely put Berrios in the "Arrived" category, no? Buxton's BA is now up to .211, a hit and a walk. Is this another "time-off" thing, like Sano and Rosario? I hope so. I'd really like to see this kid succeed. Max: 2 hits off a lefty. If the Twins OF keeps trending like this: UFDA!
  20. Thanks again for the writeup. Damn work schedule anyhow..... "That'll help" LOL! Strib did an article on Vargas working on his right-handed swing. With the majority of MLB pitchers being righties, [137 left-handed pitchers and 354 right-handed pitchers currently on MLB rosters or approximately 39% lefties.] ...it's no shocker that a switch-hitter would have problems with the lack of reps. Nice call by Vargas. Nice Swing!
  21. Ahem, in other baseball news, the Brewers just released Neftali Feliz. "However, after getting off to a hot start to the year (one earned run on two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts through his first seven appearances), Feliz’s performance has plummeted. Over his past 22 appearances, he’s been torched for a 7.17 ERA — yielding 21 runs (17 earned) on 21 hits with a 14-to-13 K/BB ratio. Feliz has served up a staggering eight homers in just 27 innings this season and had lost the closer’s role to breakout reliever Corey Knebel well before being designated." Sooo.... we're talking possible bounce back, right?
