  1. Just my thoughts.... I don't like keeping Gibson around any longer. I think we can do better. Although I question the Rays use in the past 4 years, I'd definitely take a shot at Archer. Reduce his innings from 200+ to around 180 and get his legs back under him. After that I'd try to sign Cobb and/or Garcia. Of the 3, I believe Archer is the only one with a contract. If a couple starters in the MiLB are ready during the season, well, there could be room.
  2. I like the idea. But I think the Twins would have to try and get Greinke's contract re-negotiated. If I'm reading this correctly, $138.5M over 4 yrs. is still due to Greinke. $34.5M per year, I guess. I think the D-Backs would listen.
  3. Tough call. And, maybe not In the field, I believe the Twins are ready to complete. In the starting rotation, I'd like to see some cleansing. And at least 2 new faces: Arrieta on a "show me" type contract (1 yr. + 2nd guarantee based on 1st yr. performance ) and a similar contracts for 1 or 2 others (Garcia and Tillman?? ). Need some space? Sure, got 3 in mind: Hughes, Gibson, May. Buy out contracts where needed, trade if possible ( yeah, made myself laugh on that one ) but the truth is, only one has a chance of being a .500 pitcher. Hughes latest injury is probably a career ender, May still has that lower back problem and Gibson has never really been more than staff filler with a 5 ERA that past 2 years. And then there's Ervin. Last year was fantastic. What's next? Getting a reasonable return on a Dozier trade would be very helpful.
  4. Goin is gone and Levine and Falvey are taking over the Analytics Department? Guess I've missed a lot.
  5. First, let me say I like Dozier. I don't really see a downside to him. However, I think it's time to embrace the future. I like Polanco far better at 2nd than short. Dozier is still young, affordable and productive. Dozier should be worth something more than LA was offering last year. It is a pretty unique thing for the Twins that they have the option to trade a guy like Dozier and back-fill it's MiLB system with new talent. Or, I could be wrong :-)
  6. I believe this team is really on the cusp of year to year contending. I'm not sure now is the time to spend big often. I'd like to see a bit more of the MiLB talent and moving more of the mediocre vets out of the way. Please move Gibson and Hughes. May should get another shot, due to injury.
  7. I don't think Darvish along get's the Twins fully over the hump. Just a gut feeling. I would absolutely love to see Mejia or Gonsalve or another MiLBer step up to some MLB experience. I'm also looking at how much longer Santana can be reliable. The clock is ticking......
  8. "$100-110 million for 7 years or $80-90 million for 6 " I'm in the IDK Camp. I'd like to see another year of improvement at the plate to seal the deal. But you can't ignore the improvements at the plate over the years. If Buxton's improvement continues next season, he could be a very sought after commodity around the All Star Break. Twins have got to resign him, that's a given.
  9. I don't see the Twins releasing Joe. Remember, it was on upper management's orders that Molitor gave Joe more rest. Seemed to workout OK. And I just don't see Joe wanting to play for any other team.
  10. Don't know how to really put this, but here goes anyway: Looking at a small sample size of 2 videos [OK, just being too lazy to look it up :-) ] is Duke's use of the side-arm delivery vs. lefties screwing the stats? Hey, teach Duke how to throw a screwball against righties!
  11. Same here on Vargas. He just hasn't shown me enough. That, and he's now 27 yrs. old. I think he'd be better off trying on some other AL team.
  12. Love Eduardo Escobar! Defensive specialists are a dime a dozen. Escobar provides offense and defense. My 2 cents: I fear that Sano will have more injury problems, just because he's a really big guy. This year, the focus should be on keeping him healthy and Escobar on 3rd more frequently.
  13. While not all that spectacular, I like the signings of Pineda and Rodney. I'm wondering if we should be looking at this as an indictment of the Twins farm system. When I heard Gonsalves' (6' 5") best pitch was a change-up, I gave up on him. Then I read on this board that Nick Gordon isn't as great a prospect as I was lead to believe. Please tell me if I've got this all wrong....
  14. Hi ya'll. Back from a self-imposed sabbatical. If memory serves, May has a lower back issue. As a RP, he had time to heal. As a SP, the lower back issue was exacerbated, i.e. longer stints throwing. I'm not sure there is a way to fix lower back issues. Especially, if your profession is MLB pitcher.
  15. Given their recent moves, I have to wonder what is the timeline for Falvey and Levine. So far, it doesn't sound like next year....
  16. Thad Levine: The GM said his team's "unfortunate reality" has changed in the past week. http://www.startribune.com/gm-thad-levine-says-twins-looking-more-long-term-after-rough-week/437418403/ I wonder how deep [or should I say, "high up" Levine and Falvey will go on the roster. I think the only guy that is untouchable is Sano. Not sure I'm firm on that. I'd just like to see a reduction in strike outs over the rest of the year.
  17. It's going to be interesting to see what the Twins new FO does prior to 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 31st. Two 40 man roster positions still open, correct? That's gotta mean something, right???
  18. First: Was this Jaime Garcia’s first and last start with the Minnesota Twins? Man, wouldn't that be something! LOL Second: .... After he showed up with migraine headaches and needing to sit out several games in a row, they changed their minds sent Buxton to Rochester. Read about Buxton's migraines elsewhere. Once a month. Migraines are aggravated by things like stress, physical activity and bright, sunny days. Which kinda leads to...... Third: Let’s just say the Twins are indeed sellers after the weekend. Who stays? Who goes? Not trying to be a mean guy here, but with Buxton's migraine issues, is he really that Safe? Should he be? Extra Innings: the Twins only have 38 people committed to the 40-man roster. Could the last two slots come from outside the organization or are there two internal candidates ready for those? My gut feeling: I think new management has done there homework on inside candidates. Outside the org.
