  1. Your comment just proves the Baldelli cannot do anything right in the minds of some fans.
  2. My opinion was to trade him this year if he was not going to stay in Minnesota for the 2023 season. I didn't give any opinion about how good they would be next year.
  3. ????? I never gave any opinion about next year being better or being worse. I really do not understand your question.
  4. My opinion - The Twins should be in negotiations with Scott Boras right now about what they need to offer Correa to make him a Twin for the next couple of years (with no opt-out clause). If they are, the answer becomes obvious. If he is going to stay, don't trade. If he is going to opt out, then trade him. I really don't care about this year if Correa isn't staying because I think (opinion) that this team has an almost zero chance of success of advancing in the playoffs even with Correa in the lineup.
  5. And how does any of the above relate to Baldelli's mindset late in games? Or did you forget which thread you were reading? Your post should probably be in the trades and rule 5 thread.
  6. I just watched the play again (multiple times) on YouTube and I agree that it's unclear. It appears that his shoulder and head were the primary points of contact with the wall. My thought is that he hurt the knee when he recoiled off the wall. It didn't look to me like his knee ever made contact with the wall.
  7. And the first time, he was walking down his front steps. The front office should have forbidden him from doing that. I blew out a knee playing 3B. It could happen anywhere.
  8. And the Washington Senators made an awful trade in 1943 so let's blame our current problems on that too.
  9. Stop the "easiest to fill" nonsense. Did you watch Miranda butcher two plays at first last night? In a closer game, those plays might have cost the Twins the game. There is footwork and technique in being a good defensive 1B.
  10. One little negative comment. Tonight was a perfect example of why I am strongly against the often espoused theory that defense isn't important at first base. A good defender at first would not have missed the bag on Jax' great play and would definitely not have dropped Polanco's throw from right field. Fortunately, neither play hurt tonight. And as Vanimal46 pointed out, they paled in comparison to Stanton's antics in right field.
  11. You can't trust defensive metrics because they don't agree with your eye test - which you say is very limited because you haven't watched the Twins? Seems more like you just want to hope the defense is better than metrics tell you it is.
  12. Inquiring minds want to know. Seems very odd to take him out so early. Probably just a major arm/shoulder injury.
  13. A trade for Perez would be a brilliant move - for the Rangers. They could get rid of a (most likely) greatly overvalued pitcher just before he implodes. The return would far exceed what the Rangers paid him so far this year.
  14. The Twins would be shortening a shaky bullpen only by however long the DFA period lasts (7 or 10 days). But more importantly, Duffy might be the shakiest of the group. So wouldn't that actually be strengthening the bullpen (basic principles of mathematics)?
  15. I agree that there are some older players at AAA but that wasn't what was being implied. I read it as older players get an advantage and that should not be the case.
  16. First paragraph I agree 100%. And then you lost me. Did you think Sano in RF was a defense-first idea? Or how about Sano at 3B? Or Rooker in the OF? In my opinion, the Twins have favored home runs over defense for the past several years. Simmons was probably the only acquisition that was for defense. And the last paragraph, well let's just say I have no idea what the 70's have to do with anything.
  17. I'm sorry but I've just spent ten minutes trying to figure out what you mean. Are you saying that if two players are similar, the older one gets the higher level? If so, but then you say it should not be a consideration at the AAA level. Huh???
  18. I have a question for all of you about the technicalities of DFA. As I understand the DFA process, all it means is removing a player from the 40-man roster for a short amount of time, during which the team can decide what to do with him. The options are putting him on waivers, trading the player, or (if no one wants to trade or claim him off waivers) either an outright release or return him to the 40-man roster. If my understanding is correct, why not DFA Duffy right now? Because his feelings might be hurt? My thought is that finding a phantom illness so he can be put on the IL is not necessary. Just DFA him, see if anyone has any interest in him, and then either trade him, put him back on the roster, or send him down to see if he rediscovers his magic.
  19. Question for you, Cody. You stated that last year SWR was 4.5 years younger than the league average. Later you state that so far in 2022, he only faced eight batters older than him. How did he go from way younger to way older in just one year? Did you mean he only has faced eight batters younger?
  20. Haven't you read any of the articles about how bad the Twins relief pitching is? Every one of them complains about the Rogers trade. I think saying "most of us haven't talked about Taylor Rogers" is a complete swing and a miss on your part. And speaking of swing and a miss, any word on Sano?
  21. Please forgive the multiple entries above. I wasn't trying to prove my point through repetition. My tablet was acting like it wasn't posting my comment and I kept hitting "SUBMIT".
