  1. Ok, I'll say it - "Ladies and Gentlemen, Elvis has left the building..." sorry - couldn't resist.
  2. I totally agree that Esco has been a godsend for this team the past two years. I also agree that if he would resign as a super-utility guy in the off season, that the Twins should do that in a heartbeat. My feeling, however, is that Esco will not want to do that - especially after "starting" for the past year and a half. He has proven he deserves a chance to start, so it was going to be (and will be) tough for the Twins to resign him IF (BIG IF) Sano bounces back to where the Twins need him to be. If not, or if the Twins choose to not resign Mauer and move Sano to 1B, Then the door is open, IMO for and Escobar return. Given all that, I like the trade.
  3. Good info Seth. Thanks! Also - Thorpe obviously started on Thursday but is also listed as today's Probable Starter at the end of the recap. i don't believe that is accurate unless they are turning him into a RP!
  4. I was thinking the same thing Dantes. The Twins thumped Kluber, and beat the Red Sox when Sale and Price started. They smacked Lester around pretty good also. Snell was next in line, I guess. I also agree it is those SPs with 5.76 ERAs, and 1.62 WHIPs that shut the Twins down that can be maddening.
  5. Kind of interesting that Adalberto Mejia was used in relief by the Wings. Is a change to the BP in his future or was this just a one-time thing?
  6. I've been a big Gordon fan since the Twins drafted him, and am appreciative of the in depth look at him. Two things stick out to me as solid positives. One is that he continues to put in extra time. Even though he is one step away for the Big Leagues, he knows that he needs to continue to get better. The second is his attitude. He said “For me, I’m blessed to have a uniform on, so whether it’s AA or AAA or the big leagues, I’m just grateful to be playing the game.” Both of these should serve him well as his career progresses.
  7. Mike - lets not forget that our #1 SP coming into the season has thrown ZERO innings and our starting catcher will miss most of the season... Can we just jump to Spring of 2019?? Or maybe Spring 2020....
  8. I'm sorry, but Edwar Colina should have been pitcher of the day - if this recognition is truly about performance and not performance of a higher prospect. 6 innings, ZERO runs and only 3 hits bests Thorpe's 5.2 with a ER in my book.
  9. I LOVE Sammons' stat line yesterday (8 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K) - unlike the "K" happy crowd that would rather see a starter go 5.2 IP and whiff 11.
  10. WOW! Great day yesterday in the system. One question - why is Sano only playing every other day? Is he doing something else that is preventing him from playing more?
  11. I was thinking the same thing, JK. He was struggling with that with his injured toe. To me this is the most important piece of the Buxton update.
  12. I'm wondering if you mean MVP of the Twins or the AL? Certainly not in the AL - especially with the year Trout is having. I'd potentially argue against MVP of the Twins with the year Rosario is having. Bottom line the "Ed's" are the hottest Twins duo since the M&M boys.
  13. Tough day for Gordon. 0-4 with two errors. He has struggled this past week - hopefully not a sign of a repeat of last year's second half struggles.
  14. Here is my opinion of the fact that we picked up a guy who was not good enough to stick with our main competitor..... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  15. I was expecting something like "Twins Cave-in on the Angels", or "Angels Cave to Jake's bat..."
  16. I wholeheartedly agree with this assessment. A first half 2017 Sano or a second half 2017 Buxton would have this team right up there with this years Indians. A first half 2017 Sano or a second half 2017 Buxton AND fewer injuries (Mauer, Castro and Santana) and no Polanco suspension would have this team right up there with last years Indians. The big question becomes what do the Twins do because of this. Can Buxton and/or Sano be relied upon to be a big part of this team going forward? If not, it may be some time before this team is a consistent contender again.
  17. Nice to see Gordon continuing to hit in AAA. It looks like his fielding continues to be solid as well.
  18. Does the rule that a player needs to stay in the minors for 10 days after being sent down apply for the 26th man for a DH? If so, that is one reason Slegers could not be brought back up. If not, I'm with you Howeda.
  19. That 'Nooga boxscore is U-G-L-Y as far as the hitting was concerned. Two singles over 8 innings off of a pitcher who had a 6.42 ERA coming into the game? YIKES! Maybe they are trying to emulate the hitting of the big league squad...
