  1. The biggest take aways for me from this article is you better hire the right people, not the right names. Also, landing a top of the rotation ace does not solve all ills. People have been on the Twins for being "cheap" and not going after the top pitching free agents. Keep in mind that both Nolasco and E. Santana were each in the "top 10" of their respective Free Agent classes. The problem is that the Twins are not drafting and developing their own quality players - especially starting pitchers. Obviously Arizona was not either, and they are paying the price as well.
  2. I think I would have voted for Nick Greenwood for at least co-pitcher of the day. His line - went 7.0 innings, gave up four hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out five is pretty darn good!
  3. Is there something wrong with Nick Gordon or is he just wearing down from a long year? I'm not liking the .158 BA over the last 10 games - especially since he was very solid at the plate this year.
  4. I was under the impressing that the English translation of "Byungho" was "Strikes Out". I may be wrong as it may mean "hides injury". All kidding aside, I also wish him a speedy recovery. He has shown flashes of a very potent bat (if the Twins can find a place for him in the lineup).
  5. I'm of the mindset that even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile, but the Twins are trying to prove that axiom wrong in their ability to draft and develop top of the rotation starting pitching. Berrios and Gonsalves have a chance but the Twins track record, unfortunately, does not breed confidence in that occurring.
  6. I take it Plouffe did not qualify to be ranked? Seems like he has played as much 3B as Escobar has SS.
  7. Right now the position player in the minors I'm watching the most is Gordon. Appears to be doing fine in Fort Myers. Any chance he gets bumped up to AA in the near future?
  8. Agreed! BTW - who should and will be the Twins rep? Does Joe get the invite based on his past experience?
  9. Still no Alex Meyer, eh? He is listed on the active Red Wings roster, but has not pitched since he was sent back down three weeks ago.
  10. It appears that Buxton continues to progress in Rochester, which is awesome! The same can not be said about Murphy, however, unfortunately.
  11. Thanks for the update on Meyer, Seth. I was going to suggest they put his face on a milk carton if he had not heard something soon.
  12. Nice to see Gordon returning to action. Hopefully he can stay hot. Buxton could have really sent the TD posters over the edge if he would have came thru in the 9th with a man on and two out. Unfortunately he did not. Still, it looks like he is making some strides at the plate and on the base paths.
  13. Is there a better reliever in the system than Chargois right now? I know, SSS, but 1 ER, 1 walk, 10 K and a 0.57 WHIP is impressive.
  14. A week ago I posted that I was concerned that the Korean term "Byung Ho" translates to "strikes out" in English. I'd like to modify that. I believe it actually means "strikes out or hits long home run". :-)
  15. 265/.360/.535 (.896 OPS) 31 HR, 34 Doubles, 85 walks, 155Ks and a number that I don't see commenting on above, 102 RBI.
  16. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear the "bust of the season" will be Park.
  17. Yup - no surprises here. The Twins need to give Arcia and D. Santana every chance possible to see if they can stick in the Big Leagues.
  18. Unfortunately I predict that Joe will lead the league in taking first pitch strikes. He'll also rank high in GIDP, and be near the top of "things that should be changed on the Twins" discussions on the site.
  19. Seth - How did Perkins look to you? Is he healthy? Did he change his offseason regimen at all to try and prevent the second half problems he has had the past two years?
