  1. Seth - thanks for the walk down memory lane - as good and bad as some of those memories were!
  2. Was wondering why Kirby was not on the list and had to research to determine he was taken in a "January" draft. Wasn't sure what that was so I looked it up. Here is what Wikipedia states "Originally, three MLB drafts were held each year. The first draft took place in June and involved high-school graduates and college seniors who had just finished their seasons. The second draft took place in January for high school and college players who had graduated in December. The third draft took place in August and was for players who participated in American amateur summer leagues. The August draft was eliminated after two years, and the January draft lasted until 1986. This makes me wonder if there are some others that fall into those other "non June" drafts that are worth a mention?
  3. At least Molitor moved him out of the "3 hole" in last nights game, and the early line-up shows him batting 2nd again today. That maybe the start of the recognition that Joe is not performing at the level to merit him batting 3rd.
  4. Thanks for the analysis Parker! You bring up many factors that are potentially contributing to Joe's decline. If he indeed did move away from the plate a bit, it would explain why he is striking out looking on pitches on the outside corner. Those used to be balls, distance wise, when he was closer to the plate.
  5. WOW - talk about missing on a ton of high draft picks! I'm sure the Twins thought they would get more out of Banks, McCarthy and Johnson when they were drafted, and given where they were drafted I would consider them busts. BTW - David McCarty was the 3rd overall pick in 1991, not a 3rd round pick as stated above.
  6. Great article. Bruno does have his work cut out for him. There will be a TON of pressure on the Twins staff to continue to cultivate and improve the young crop of players - especially in the batters box. I hope, like many Twins fans do, that he is VERY successful in doing just that.
  7. Aaron Hicks' 0 for 6 for Rochester looks ugly. I keep hoping he can be consistent enough to come up and provide the Twins some solid outfield "D", while batting 9th. He can bring much more to the table than Robinson or Schafer, and could be a nice #4 outfielder for the Twins down the road. That hope is waning, however, every time I see a box score like yesterdays...
  8. SD - I'm also looking forward to the day when the roster you described above becomes a reality. Unfortunately for 2015 it is a pipe dream save significant injuries. That said, I'd love to see it, but it sounds more realistic to have it occur in 2016 or later.
  9. I agree. Escobar is a good player to have on this roster as we wait, wait and wait some more for the "future" to finally arrive. Go Twins!
  10. Yup - unfortunately Yohan did not turn out to be the next Johan.
