Red Wings box score was certainly ugly to look at with Gonsalves, Gordon and Hildenberger's performances. Hopeful it was just "rust" for Gonsalves and Gordon. I also really hope Hildy figures it out - soon!

Article: MIN 8, LAA 7: Twins Squeak Out Victory
puckstopper1 replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Tom stated: Miguel Sano has also just been activated and could be seen in the lineup within the next week. Adding him to this already powerful lineup will just add fuel to the fire and give the Twins another weapon in the lineup. Except that Sano is taking Garver's place and thus not improving the Twins lineup at this point. When Garver comes back and if the 2017 "pre-injuries" Sano shows up, then we can make this statement.- 75 replies

Article: LAA 5, MIN 4: More Missed Opportunities
puckstopper1 replied to Andrew Gebo's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Bighat - Schoop hurt his shoulder when he dove for a ball against the Tigers in the 1st game of the DH on Saturday. I was at the game and my friend even commented on how much Schoop was working his shoulder while in the field between batters. Not surprised he needed a few games off to see how it reacted. Hopefully him getting in the game last night means that the injury is a minor one.- 54 replies

Sorry Gunnar, but I have to disagree that Sano is doing fine on his Rehab assignment. In his time in AA Sano hit .200 and struck out 35% of the time. SSS I know, and I'd be less concerned about this if he hit last year with the Twins like he did in 2017. Unfortunately the AA numbers are similar to what he did for the Twins in 2018. Is 2018 version of Sano going to help them? I know Gonzales is struggling, but 2018 version of Sano is not an upgrade. Hence the reason he needs to stay at AAA until he demonstrates that he is not the 2018 version of Sano.

I hope the Twins keep Sano in Rochester for several weeks until he is making consistent enough contact to once again be a threat at the plate in the big leagues.

I hope you are right Sega, but 6 whiffs in 16 plate appearances against inferior arms is very disconcerting.

The Prospect Summary has Gordon on the Injured List. Is that a typo or did he get hurt again?

Smeltzer doesn't miss enough bats. How is he going to be successful striking out only 3 over 7 innings?? (Yes - said with tongue firmly in cheek).

We also need to compare this to the rest of the Central division. With Kluber's injury, the door is wide-open, IMO, this season. Not to say that an upgrade won't be welcome, but if the starting staff keeps doing what they have been doing, then it should be a fun summer!

Thanks all for the regular updates. A good day in Twins Territory with the way the big club played last night and also getting two of their top prospects back today. Go get 'em Nick and Alex!

Terrific to get the DH sweep. An extra bonus to do it and NOT need to use the whole pen. Harper, May, Parker and Mejia should all be good to go today as the boys go for a rare road sweep.

Hope this is not a trend for Stewart. Unfortunately it has for Gibson in his two starts with the Twins. Walked the #9 hitter in KC and became unglued, and could not get out of the 5th with a large lead yesterday.

Thanks Steve and to the others that provided all the previews. Lots of players to track this season across the system. The TD Minor League updates are greatly appreciated for allowing us to do just that!

My dad suggested last week that Romero would not make the team. I didn't agree with him and mentioned that there would be riots at Twins Daily if that happened. Unfortunately Romero's performance changed all that. My dad was right - he is not ready. Here is hoping he can be lights out in Rochester and help the Twins down the road.

He will replace Gonzalez in the order who will in turn replace others on a rotating basis. Options like this are a GOOD thing!

Article: Kepler's Unusual Contract
puckstopper1 replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My initial reaction was that the cost was a bit high and the years a bit long. But after looking at the charts it seems like a fair deal. It is a great contract for the Twins if Max's bat improves, and good stability for Max if he continues to meander offensively. On its own this contract should not prevent the Twins from spending more to upgrade their team in the future, but when you start adding in others (Polanco, Rosario, Buxton, etc.) that is where the length and amount become a concern. -
Not that they were seriously considering it, but I feel that Kirilloff's potential is a reason (there are several others) that the Twins would not pursue Bryce Harper.

Article: Sizing Up Cody Allen
puckstopper1 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nick you said "After reaching agreement with all of their arbitration eligible players last week, the Twins have solidified their projected 2019 payroll at around $96 million. That's about $30M below where they were last year (which was just below the MLB average), so needless to say they've got spending flexibility." I may hbe off base here, but do we know for sure that the Twins are able to / planning on spending more than the $96M they are at? When I look around Target Field, I'm seeing more and more empty seats. I also believe that their season ticket holder and corporate sponsor base is diminishing. If I'm ownership and are seeing that, I might not be so quick to add too much to the payroll. I certainly hope that is not the case...
