  1. What if I sincerely believe the Twins haven’t done enough to win the division? They won’t go from most injuries in MLB to fewest, or even average. Likely still among the most injuries. Is an upgrade at utility infielder, Catcher and some improved health enough to push this team 10+ wins? Probably not.
  2. I have no idea why any team would want Gallo, and yet here we are. Trades tend to trail the heavy free agency period. Likely the next month will see that activity heat up heading to ST. For now we can only speculate
  3. Kepler had a 95 wRC+ and Gallo 85. With 350 PA on FG leaderboard for outfielders, Kepler ranked 63, Gallo 86. On paper those two as a combination would comprise the worst hitting corner outfield in MLB by a wide margin. For a team that struggled to score runs last year, this would be disastrous. The Twins absolutely have better hitting outfielders already on the team, and Gordon is clearly one of them. His 111 wRC+ ranked 39.
  4. I would also lump Farmer as a defensive specialist. He can play good SS and 3B, while Gordon cannot. agreed, this roster is in a pickle right now. Trades are needed, but Gordon isn’t the piece to trade this off-season. He was one of the better and more durable hitters last year. They’ll need that again, as RB pointed out.
  5. So the Twins offered 10/285, that was declined. The Twins already had all the same information at this point, knew the risk, took it. Correa declined. second agreed deal falls apart, Twins jump back in with 6/200 plus vesting options that can bring it up to 10/270. the Twins used the Mets/Giants situation to leverage a smaller contract, no? The Mets are particularly dubious, but the Twins were advantageous in their second crack at it. Was Correa to Boras comment “make me a Twin” a bit more genuine than it felt?
  6. Agreed that Arraez is a decent 2nd baseman, at least to my not so critical eye test. It’s a spot that is less critical than SS or 3B, in terms of range and arm, and doesn’t require the wingspan of 1B, Arraez most recent spot on the diamond. he’s been their best hitter. I have questions about whether his knees hold up and his OBP stays elevated, but man that guy can hit! I’d probably lean towards extend. Trade some of the excess minor league SS prospect capital for pitching
  7. Oh Thank God! I didn’t know what to do with myself and was running out of menial tasks to busy myself with while waiting for TD to come back up.
  8. Agreed, it’s a good tool, certainly better than us rubes throwing out the Duensings, but it values MLB players and prospects, weather or not they are on the 40 universally and not in regards to the needs of the team and perspective of the FO. It’s the best we got, but far from perfect
  9. Millionaires vs Billionaires is a difficult narrative to follow when one of them might take away your favorite uniform.
  10. Waiting out the market, all three or four times, also caused them to miss out on the tier two free agents that would have marginally improved the team without giving up prospects. In 22 they missed out on players like Jose Abreu who would have been a significant improvement to the lineup, and would have not cost a budget shifting amount where they couldn’t afford Correa’s 33M. 6 years in the making to not significantly improve the team and by shear luck not taking a huge step backwards. The FO does deserve credit for freeing up the cash to sign Correa and actually getting the deal done. They also deserve the blame for having a huge budget surplus and not consuming it in ways that significantly improve the team. There’s trades still potentially out there, but prospects are the capital that improve the major league roster, and that cash is pretty low right now considering how much budget surplus there was coming into this offseason.
  11. Point of clarification, per MLBTRthe Twins reached agreements with 7 of 8 and appear to be going through arbitration with Arraez.
  12. And in Toronto he’s the 3rd or 4th starter and might not make a post season start
  13. Agreed, a 6 man rotation would not surprise me. Likely Maeda, Ober, and Winder will be 5 and fly starters, so effective multi inning relief from a couple pitchers will be continue to be important, in order to manage workload and still win games.
  14. I like the thumbs up/thumbs down idea. I like the sad emoji, but the yikes emoji and the ha ha emojis tend to be a bit “troll-y”. I’d replace the yikes with the thumbs down
  15. Connected to whom? Their information has to come from somewhere and if it is planted, that doesn’t make Hayes or Rosenthal less credible.
  16. Domestic violence is a crime. What the criminal courts, civil courts, and what the MLB does are all independent of each other.
