  1. I agree with this to a large extent. The core is here, don’t trade major leaguers away… however, they have to do something to improve the bullpen. that can and should be accomplished by trading low level prospects
  2. Don’t they currently have 4 guys dedicated to when it doesn’t matter?
  3. Thanks for correcting my error, agreed on the needs for Starters that prevent blow ups, but you will never have a rotation of 5 aces. It can’t happen (at least not with the Twins). You can reduce blow ups and you can mitigate the strain on the bullpen by having 1 pitcher to close out that game rather than emptying out the bullpen with 4 guys. That keeps better relievers available for when it matters.
  4. In the 42 games prior they were 27 and 16. Every team has ups and downs and streaks. Every team has long stretches of .500 ball. there’s 71 games left, some bullpen reinforcements will take this team a long ways (especially a long man that can soak up innings on nights like last night)
  5. In the MLB, By ERA this current team is ranked 9th. By FIP it’s ranked 20, by SIERA it’s ranked 12, by just runs allowed it’s ranked 9th. this pitching staff is average, maybe slightly better than average if you squint real hard. The current rotation by ERA is 10th at 3.81 the proposed rotation would be 25th at 4.69 The current bullpen is ranked 14th in era at 3.70 the proposed would be ranked 26th at 4.46 ERA no thanks
  6. Why would the Twins trade for Danny Duffy just to trade him to SD? Also, for all those clamoring to trade Tyler Duffey for Snell, Duffey hasn’t given up a run since June 12. I’m in less of a hurry to trade him away
  7. The Twins are currently 4th in the AL by record. 3rd in the AL in runs scored, 5th in the AL in runs allowed. 5 games blip with 72 remaining, there’s no need to panic. a couple good bullpen pieces and some health will make this a very competitive team in the post season.
  8. Great story in the Wall Street Journal today. As a person with a disability who played JV and various summer leagues, I was never very good, but I enjoyed playing until I had a coach who felt like I shouldn't play because of my disability. That coach belittled me in front of my team until I quit. Seeing this story gives me hope that societally we are starting to change our ideas about such things. 9. Have the Futures Game as a part of the All Star festivities?
  10. You can’t win a World Series in July.
  11. I laughed so hard! new vocabulary word too. It’s a good day when you learn what Minnesota sushi is!
  12. 1. How do you think this 9-game stretch is going to go record wise? (Vote above) 5-6 2. What most heavily influenced your choice? Record of opponents and my homerism 3. What are the key x-factors for this team to finish strong before the break? Run scoring consistency, and managing the bullpen. Can’t afford for the bats to go cold, or Pagan blow-ups 4. (OPTIONAL) What do you think this team will do at the trade deadline and why? I think Levine trades for a solid to good setup man. Duffey has pitched well lately and the FO has history of not investing in the bullpen, I don’t think Levine will swing multiple trades or a big trade for a high end closer. They don’t strike me as valuing the bullpen much, but will address with half measure. Additional to trade, I think Winder stays up as Swing Man post all star break.
  13. Dry humping Duran because it’s not a save anymore is the solution to the bullpen only having 1.5 viable options?
  14. The batter by batter view is likely the data used by Rocco and Pete to determine whether to roll with Bundy (or whomever) another inning or start the inning with a reliever. If the starter would likely not make it through the inning, go to the pen
  15. filed for divorce from his pregnant wife inside of the first year of marriage
