I cannot go crazy - the Twins have done well with Tigers, injured White Sox, Orioles. Split with Red Sox and Mariners, Clobbered by the Dodgers, lost 2 of 3 to KC, There are still division games to feast on, but it is too early to go crazy on predictions. We have seen 1/2 season teams before. Do we have enough to sustain? I am not sold on Bundy and Archer. Gray worries me because pitcher injuries don't seem to go away. Can Bundy sustain, will Ryan have the inevitable stumble/slump? I still see us keeping about 500 but not ready for the stratosphere yet.

What is this rotation going to look like at the all-star break?
mikelink45 replied to cHawk's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I do not know what to expect, but I know what I want - Ryan Gray Winder Paddack Ober Archer to the BP, Bundy ?? No one who is not producing should be in the rotation. Injury can't be predicted and I hope Gray stays healthy. Next up from minors - Cano for the BP, maybe Canterino too. -
Where is Buxton I like seeing celestino gets a playing time in as bad as come around but nobody matches Buxton and I can't believe it's time to give him a rest

Is the Twins Rotation for Real?
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Tonight demonstrated why I am not willing to buy into the "this rotation is better than we thought" postings. Let's see them show it for another 6 weeks. You can judge batters much quicker than pitchers.- 44 replies

Reevaluating Minnesota’s First Base Depth

C J Cron - oh, wait, we did not want him. Oh well - Arraez and Miranda are fine. We do not need another strikeout specialist.- 48 replies

Is the Twins Rotation for Real?
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As the old guy that questions a lot of quick judgments, I need to get to at least June before giving the rotation a grade.- 44 replies

What strikes me is how weak the AAA rotation is compared to the arms at other levels. Immediate help for the Twins - is Smeltzer and calling back Sands.

I like the choice. He didn't choose where they put him, instead he has taken the challenge that was in front of him and made the most of it

I'm interested to see how the postings that say we had only Rogers for one year. I believe extensions and resignings are allowed.
-
I reserve judgment - Rogers has 8 games, no runs, 7 saves, 0.625 whip, 8 Ks - I think we could still use him. Paddack is better than he has been and hopefully will continue to develop - I am glad we have him, but my expectations are limited until I see more.
-
It is hard not to be optimistic. But we have to look at who we beat and be ready for some tough times and challenges. I really like celestino coming through as well as seeing Correa starting to get hits. If Ober is hurt we need to keep winder in the rotation.

Kirilloff, Smeltzer Hope to Rejoin Twins Soon
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nice to see smeltzer doing well. But he better stick to the mound and not as an analyst. There are a lot of us who listened and check in on baseball I do not want to sit through three and a half hours a game- 18 replies

I love the wins but we have now had four games in a row or the other team has had sloppy Fielding. I'm happy it's the other team but disappointed that baseball has emphasized hitting over Fielding to such an extent. But if we can play keystone cops on the bases and that wins the game then we better keep practicing that move.

Nice report - Is Faria starting because Balazovic is IL? It seems like we have better arms for the AAA rotation. Looking at the lines for Wallner and Sabato - it bears resemblance to Miguel Sano - not good.

Twins-Tigers Series Preview
mikelink45 replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like the Tigers, but of course like the Twins better. It could be a very competitive series and it is time for Correa to get out of the early season funk and start being the high paid star we expect. Paddock is another question mark, let's hope he turns it around. We traded for him to give us more than one season, but right now I am anxious for one really good season or another of our young pitchers to take his spot.- 15 replies

Scouring the Twins System for Relief Help
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Let Canterino pitch his 3 innings in the majors, call up Cano and give him a chance, and get Henriquez for some tougher assignments. I am ready for more overhaul - the pen is not a place where most pitchers have long term careers with the same teams, but it can be used for building the future if we stop using fillers from other teams.- 24 replies

Is there a reason that Canterino is only going three innings? Are they preparing them to be a relief pitcher or is something else going on
