  1. I don't know what stage it reaches when there's a large change in levels at the minor leagues. It's great to see steer move up to AAA but it sure looks like we've got some other in the lower levels that need to get up and be challenged by a better level
  2. Love the win, but Archer and Bundy are really putting pressure on the BP. I looked at the BP chart 33,28,31, and 38 Pitches by BP arms the last two days. This is not sustainable and Archer's tightrope 4 innings is not going to go well in June when the opposition is stronger. It is a concern - I know from another poster that this is not 1975, but I still think we need starters to go 6 or 7. We are coming to a reduction to 13 pitchers. Who goes? BP arms are used regularly, Archer, Bundy, etc every six days.
  3. I love this ball. It invites a more complex version of baseball that is much more entertaining.
  4. What will happen to Vallimont - his stats this year are terrible. It was a good time to drop him from the 40, but weak teams could still see that he might have some real upside - its not like Rule V.
  5. Teams that are leaders do not copy other teams. Extending starters is not a new idea and it is not a bad idea.
  6. Like so many other posts I have to question the decision to leave Cano in so long. When a pitcher does not have his stuff - take him out.
  7. You can have the metrics - I love his play and believe in him. I only go by eye tests - and I do not mind soft hits.
  8. What a wonderful game. I was one who wanted to see Cano come up - it is not looking good right now. Who is next. Otherwise great game. Arraez struck out on a called strike that was a ball. For good batters like Luis the robot ump is perfect. Nice comeback for Ober and what a relief to have a real closer who goes 1 - 2 - 3. Thank you Duran.
  9. He was a good acquisition the first time - why did we let him go?
  10. We traded Rogers because he had only one year left, why would we trade for three months of a struggling Eovaldi? Makes no sense to me. Between St Paul and Mpls we have enough bats to make it work this year without getting Bell. Lopez has not been so good that we could not bring up Canterino and Moran to cover the BP. Trade - NO.
  11. Of all the elements I find the Rogers would be gone in a year the weakest. Take that out. Assume that if we wanted to keep Rogers we would sign him. That is what teams do. In this era is a SP as valuable as a good RP? I do not know. We currently have 7 pitchers with 10 - 16 games, none are SP. Ryan at 7 has the most games for a SP. Innings pitched belong to starters with Ryan dominating, Paddack has 22, RPs Duran 19, Jax 18, Duffey and Stashak have 15. Then we have Pagan with 13 games and 12.2 innings and listed by the BR as our closer (I agree). Luckily we have been on the weak side of our schedule because his 2.13 era masks the fack that in 12 innings he has given up 10 walks and 10 hits! 1.579 WHIP. He is undefeated and still unwatchable! Rogers 0.635 WHIP are all I need to say there is a judgment day coming.
  12. Smeltzer has been a victim of the Royce Lewis rule. Come up do well and we'll send you down. Good luck to him in the future it was nice to have him here for two starts and I suspect we'll see some more this year.
  13. Wonderful history lesson and a fun analysis thanks for the work. I believe there was a free Lewis movement that needs to come to the forefront. What an enjoyable time it was to have him here.
  14. I have been a surprised and happy fan to date, but always have in the back of my mind our competition and like other posts I see June being the month that we finally take the major league exam and I do not know what to expect. We do not have a shut down Ace, a shut down closer, or a consistent SP rotation. I want us to keep beating up the weak teams, but honestly, the Central division is so weak I cannot imagine how other teams in other divisions see us.
  15. Yes. Players who earn the opportunity need to be rewarded. Our allegiance should be to our own prospects and young players over the vets that we pick up. He has shown so much heart that it would be a real let down for him to not be able to stay in the majors.
  16. I think Alex wants back in Minneapolis. I hope both he and Larnach add to the offense soon. How long does Kiriloff stay in St Paul? He has had a few really good games. Is that enough? Based on Lewis demotion it might not be.
  17. This morning I have some internet and some time - I am on Martha's Vineyard and heading to Newport Rhode Island. But I feel I let Vanimal46 down because of my short but sincere post so here is a longer more detailed post. It was the perfect team for Sonny Gray to start against - their team BA going in was 199 and he did what was expected of him and most important went 6 innings - let's make it 7 next time. 12 hits for the A's from our 4 pitchers is too much, but that is the only negative I can find. Arraez did what we all love and is not batting 323 after 3 hits in 5 ABs. Love his approach. Welcome back Correa - the rest seemed to do you well, although Lewis might have also given you some incentive to get the bat going. Two stolen bases - hallelujah small ball still makes sense. Celestino has really found his groove and I am really pleased for him. Miranda is lost - I would like to ask the obvious, why Lewis and not Miranda, but I won't - you didn't read it here. That's it - make sure Vanimal46 knows I wrote this.
  18. That's good - I enjoy it when I get reactions. I happen to be on Martha's Vineyard at the moment and thus my attention is divided and I only get a little internet. So I will do my best to get you to react.
  19. .You misunderstand - this is not cynical, but when everything goes right I can only congratulate them. There is nothing more that needs to be said.
  20. There are some games where there really isn't much to say or needs to be said. Glad to have the win.
  21. Based on my own physical experience another counting stat is how many years you live. Knees, hips, backs...don't get better with age. They don't always improve from days off and rest - when Buxton does not play, what else does he do on that day. We he hurts adapt, when he feels good let him play. In the long run, no one is worth that kind of money - CEOs or ball players, so I disregard that stat.
