  1. Centeno doesn't seem to be much of a downgrade from Suzuki so think I'm moving on from Suzuki in any case. They should probably go for a FA or make a trade. Maybe Centeno could hold it down for a year or 2 though too....? Basically, I'm not sure.
  2. I would also shop Plouffe, Vargas, and Park. Plan on Sano as DH and Polanco 3B. Unless Dozier could nab SP or C. No need to carry additional DH types as it looks like Sano's future. Start there, see how it shakes out. Pitching is what they really need if they're planning to compete next year tho.
  3. Look at anyone you consider a decent MLB player and then compare their first 350 at bats to Buxton's, he's doing pretty bad, like, historically bad. No one is writing him off, it's just painfully obvious he does not presently belong in the bigs and it's likely he's NOT going to be a perennial all-star or the next Mike Trout as he was once touted. He may have some good years eventually, but then again, he might not.....
  4. He earned the demotion and doesn't look like he belongs in the bigs. Maybe next year...
  5. Hitting is contagious (as is not hitting). Guess I need to retract all my Bruno sucks posts now, clearly the guy is a genius.
  6. I've been thinking that too. Polanco takes good at bats, sees a lot of pitches, seemingly a good base runner, etc. Makes more sense to have Dozier in the middle of the lineup.
  7. I don't follow prospects too closely but its good to see the present wave having some fun. Sorta looks like the young guys are taking over the dugout and the vibe of the team is a lot less sterile. Suppose that comes with winning too. Interesting too that Buxton and Sano are getting outshined.
  8. As long as they don't sign LeBron I'm not worried.... ...no, you're right. CLE shouldn't be lumped in w/ KC, DET, & CHI, my bad.
  9. Seems like the entire AL Central is being labeled as deadline losers which is also nice to see. Playing in a weak division: Hell it worked for the Twins of the early 2000s!
  10. "total beast" was meant to be interpreted with a hint of jest anyway but are you scoffing at a 3-HR performance? That's like the equivalent of Berrios throwing a no hitter! He did throw well but 3 dingers man, c'mon....
  11. Bigger than 3 HR's by the surging rookie sensation that is Max Kepler whose looking like a total beast in the 3 spot?
  12. Lol, ya I actually thought it was a pretty decent trade but now I'm feeling a bit naive...
  13. So here's what the sporting news thought of the Nolasco trade: The most mind-blowing trade of the day on Monday had to be Minnesota sending Ricky Nolasco and Alex Meyer to Anaheim for Hector Santiago and Alan Busenitz. Never have chairs been shuffled so mightily across a 1,900-mile deck. It’s a straight-up trade of one disappointing major league starter and one minor leaguer who’s too old to really be a prospect for each other. Why did this happen? Who even cares? Clearly the national media is not drinking the kool-aid. Not a lot of Twins chatter going on outside of MN....
  14. It's easier to see the possibility of a competitive '17 with these recent developments but I still think a good playoff team needs a better 1 & 2 than Santana and Santiago but if the lineup produces and pitching staff isn't terrible they could potentially put themselves in a position to be buyers next year. That's a long way off yet though and I still hope Antony stays busy through August.
  15. Pretty good job by Antony, way more exciting than any of TR's deadline performances anyway. Lil disappointed Suzuki couldn't attract any buyers and that they wanted so much for Santana, time will tell if that was the right call or not. I'll go down on the record for saying not, but overall, not too shabby.
  16. Good ROI on both trades so far. If he can deal Santana and Kintzler I'm not sure what else I'll have to bitch about the rest of the season. Jk, I'll find some things....
  17. Trade Santana, use next year to allow the cream to rise to the top within the organization (since FA market for P will be bland) and fill in the rotation as needed w/ a FA or 2 going in to '18.
  18. Would be nice to see the FO get creative like the Padres have been leading up to the deadline. Santana in the rotation next year with Berrios, Gibson, and whoever else does not equate to a playoff contending rotation IMO. Get value for him while you can and reallocate the $ for a slick ace in a couple years to compliment some of the internal options that get their lumps over the rest of this year and next. Its the worst staff in baseball, no reason to not blow it up.
  19. I'm ready to give up on Buxton as a top of the line up guy. He's over 300 mlb at bats and still doesn't look any too handy at the plate. Pretty sure he's good in the 9 hole until he proves otherwise.
  20. So you disagree with me and agree with me, lol. I also think the playoffs should be the goal every off season and the start of every year but when reality strikes in the form of league's worst record and potentially 30 some games out of first place by the time it's all said and done then you have to factor that into the plans. Point being Polanco is probably more likely to be on more good Twins teams than Dozier is moving forward and smart money would not bet on the Twins making the playoffs next year.
