  1. Arraez just plain hit all spring. I figured he'd have a chance up here with injuries.
  2. Somehow Baldelli has got this offence rolling, and it should even be better when he can get Gonzales out of the lineup. I'd leave everything as is, as it's putting up some unexpected numbers.
  3. During spring training when the Orioles were playing a minor league game a fellow asked on of the coaches how the big club would be. He replied, terrible, they spent all the money down here.
  4. I've felt all spring Gonzales would be a flop and so far he's shown it. He would be my first to go and Castro right behind him.
  5. Hot bats was fun to see, but the 9th inning not fun. Let's gettem tomorrow.
  6. No, Thorpe wasn't sharp in Spring Training in any of the games I saw him pitch. He'd have a good inning and get hit around the next. Not what we had hoped for out of him.
  7. The Miracle gave out Championship rings for the opener. They have some great giveaways this year, with Lewis and Kirilloff bobbleheads also.
  8. Polanco and Gonzales both played yesterday in different minor league games. Today Kyle Gibson started a AAA game and did good. I asked him when he was done what had happened to May. He said he just tightened up and was fine. One think I learned to day I thought was interesting was the changing of balls. I was watching the AA game at the time and Louis Thorpe was pitching. When he took the mound the balls were switched to International League balls, and when he finished the inning the balls were taken out of play and Minor League balls were used. The ball boy explained to me that AAA uses one ball and everyone lower uses the Minor League balls. The same thing was happening on the other field where Gibson was pitching. Supposedly AAA balls and Major League balls are the same. I had one of each with me and comparing them the International league ball looked bigger to me and a couple of friends.
  9. Short lived roster. Torreyes started today, no Polanco. And Trevor May came off the practice field in a lot of pain. Not sure what happened but I saw him holding his right side. The trainers took him in quickly and he was hurting when he walked past.
  10. I like it. It's got to be a sigh of relief for guys like May and Hildenberger who wore Red Wings uniforms today and pitched for them.
  11. I don't get it. How many new faces are they going to sign. And how many of these new faces will make the team? Not all, for sure. I wonder about their confidence in some of these signings. This just seems to me to be a cover our asses for some that don't work out. I doubt we win much if any more with Marwin.
  12. I just wasted 20 minutes typing a post and it disappeared when I hit post. Been coming since 1991 and know most all the tricks. Need help look me up.
  13. Us folks from White Bear Lake have minds of our own. By the way I met a lady and her daughter today at the fields from White Bear.
  14. There's a ways to go before they break camp, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Gibson start on the Dl. He's thin as a rail having lost 25 pounds with Ecoli.
  15. There shouldn't be much doubt about that. I had some fun with the Kirlloff's yesterday. We knew Alex and his Dad, Dave would be coming out in the afternoon to work out, so 4 of us waited. The photographer among us had a photo they wanted. When the did show up, they carried equipment to the field, (a lot of balls). Dave threw bp to Alex, and at one point asked the photographer to take some video of Alex's swing. It was interesting to hear what his dad was trying to teach him. When they were done with that, we went out on the field and shagged the balls with them. Dave ran up to me and introduced himself, as he did with all of us. There was a lot of visiting with them and Dave took pictures of us. He explained what he was trying to teach Alex. He has a hitting school in PA. It was fun and very interesting, glad I experienced it. They are really good guys.
  16. Those familiar with Hammond Stadium know they put up photos up on the stadium above the ticket office. So, some need to be adjusted. This year Santana, Mauer and Buxton came down. Sano was going up. Just how short is the leash?
  17. I've taken a liking for Mahomes, and am pulling for the Chiefs. Pat Mahomes was fun to watch in Ft Myers, as he and Scott Erickson hung together and were the pretty boys, and hounds. It's good to see Tommy Watkins cousin Sammy catching some of Mahomes passes also. Just gotta root for the chiefs.
  18. Don't know, not me, yet. I heard a bunch of pitchers. I'll get there the first of Feb.
  19. Royce and Gordon are now in Ft Myers getting an early start. I have to like that.
  20. I like it. What I'd like to see know is to cut ties with Austin, and Castro.
