    Poof is afraid of the ball. He plays everything he can off to one side or the other. And he's very slow afoot. That is obvious to anyone who watches the games. And his arm is very erratic. Last night half his throws to first were right on and the other half Mauer had to stretch for up the line or out in front. His bat is either hot or cold, mostly cold. An extension to Poof would be the worst move the Twin have made since trading Larry Hisle.

    Wild Turkey. When we came back from Nam in the Navy we stopped in Guam and could each bring back 5 fifths of hootch. One of my bottles was Wild Turkey, naturally. Having survived the long drive from Ft Myers to the north shore of Lake Superior, I probably won't make the end of this game, but ill stick around long enough for us to get a lead.

    I've always been in Pelfrey's corner. His main problem was keeping away from the big inning. When he can do that, he's fine. I know some don't like how slow he works, but you should see me work. He'd win 12-14 games if in the rotation all year, and that's better than some we have now. I've got no confidence in Nolasco, none.

    I've felt for a couple of months now, after speaking with one involved, that next year will bring change. Dougie Baseball will NOT be managing in the minors next year. I can see, if the Twins want to keep Doug in the organization, one of several things taking place. TR resigns, Molly takes his job and Doug becomes the new manager, or at least Molly stays managing and Doug is brought up to coach with the chance to eventually manage the team..
