Article: Torii Hunter is Returning to the Twins
Halsey Hall replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Berardino never should have asked that question. I'd of called him a prick too. I didn't hear him call him that, but heard the question and the answer. -
Article: Torii Hunter is Returning to the Twins
Halsey Hall replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
For me, at least there will be one autograph in spring training to get. And it'll be good to see Torii again. Plus, Torii will get his shot at a ring. TR usually trades these good guys to a contender later on In the season. Maybe Arcia can teach Torii not to swing at that low outside breaking ball for strike 3. -

This thread is giving me a headache. Congrats, Seth, you got things stirred up. -
Article: Who Says No? Trevor Plouffe Edition
Halsey Hall replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The luckiest man in the world would jump at this and continue to count his blessings. The front office wouldn't even give it a second thought, and never make an offer like this. If anything, trade him. -
Article: Who Says No? Brian Dozier Edition
Halsey Hall replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm in the camp of wait another year also. Dozier's shown me a few things, he can turn on a fastball, he's good in the clubhouse, and he plays excellent defense. Is that worth multi-millions? It drives me nuts he won't hit the other way. So many fat pitches to drive to right and he's trying to pull the ball. No way he should only be hitting .240. He's got to learn to go the other way to stay in the majors. I could see him raise his average 35 points doing that. If he can do that, he's looking at a pile of gold. But he's got to show me first. -
Article: The Case for Tony O
Halsey Hall replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Tony was one of the best in baseball in his time, and I got to watch him a lot! I really hope he makes the Hall this time, he deserves it. -

Article: Contemplating the Royals... and the Twins
Halsey Hall replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Good article Seth. It's certainly fun for me to see the Royals sweep whoever takes them on so far. When it comes to patience, KC didn't draw all that well lately and I could care less how many fans the Twins claim go to the games. There probably wasn't a realistic head count in the park all year this year. But the true fans will still remain, and eventually be rewarded. I've stated before that 2018 will be the year, but that could come a year earlier. We should improve a little next year, but '16 should really open some eyes and gather additional fan base. It'll be fun to watch the younger guys grow, and mesh into a team. There'll be growing pains, much like the dieing pains we've gone thru the last 4 years, but at least we will be heading in the right direction.- 90 replies

Article: Postseason Review: Brian Dozier
Halsey Hall replied to stringer bell's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Knoblauch and Dozier polar opposites? That thought I don't understand. But Dozier does bring back memories of Knobby. It was surprising the number of runs he scored this season, his OBP had a lot to do with that. But I'd really like him to hit for a higher average, and it should be easy for him to do. I just couldn't understand him trying to pull the ball on all those outer half pitches. If he'd just take those pitches to the right of center anywhere, he'd raise his average while most likely getting to see more meat pitches to drive. He could become an elite hitter using the whole field. Lots of room for improvement there. I enjoy his defense. He's got his own style, but seems to lose concentration for time to time. Still, fun to watch.- 8 replies

Article: Buxton and Sano: Maybe the Time is Now
Halsey Hall replied to Steven Buhr's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I remember Terry Ryan telling me how he hated to bring up Torii Hunter, because he wasn't ready. He may have the same thoughts here, although that was a long time ago, and 4 90 loss seasons in a row could change that. From what I saw of Buxton this spring, I'd give him at least a month at AA, and if he's having success, bring him up. I wouldn't be afraid to bring Sano north with the break of camp. There'll be a lot of learning to be done but let that be at the highest level. Everyone knows my thoughts on Plouffe, I don't believe he'd be any good in the outfield. I'd trade him for a decent arm for the pen and be done with it. Make a commitment to Sano and let the future begin.- 97 replies

Article: How Can the Twins Prevent Runs?
Halsey Hall replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The best way the Twins can prevent runs is to quit throwing pitchers out there with sore arms. Nolasco is a good example. Perkins throws bp with a sore arm. Milone, sore arm. Fein most likely has a sore arm. Keep the sore arms off the mound.- 17 replies

Article: Where Does Pelfrey Fit In?
Halsey Hall replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I thought Pelfrey would be one of our better pitchers this year. To bad for the injury. But I'd take him over Milone, and give Pelf a good shot at being in the rotation next season. Spring training should tell the tale. Take the best five and go from there. Wins in April count just as much as wins in Sept. -
I doubt Doug would be named manager of the Twins. What I could see is Gene Glynn becoming a coach taking over for Ullger, Doug going to AAA and Jake Mauer moving to Ft Myers, with Molitor being named manager. Doug would have a couple years with guys he's already had, and gain more experience at a higher level managing.

Article: Vargas: Kennys Keep it Up
Halsey Hall replied to Twins and Losses's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Kennys won't keep up this rate, but I'm thrilled he's up with the team and gotten off to this kind of start. He seems to be taking it all in stride, and has a pretty good eye at the plate. Perhaps that will rub off on Arcia who is a sure k right now. And Kennys has played decent defense to the surprise to some who labeled him as a lifetime DH. I seem him as hitting around .280, with alot of doubles and 25 plus homers a year in the future. -
Article: Kernels with Pitching Issues? Oddly, yes.
Halsey Hall replied to Steven Buhr's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I saw Thorpe pitch several times in EST, Stewart also. No idea how many innings, and I think they were on a pitch count then, so that info must be available.- 8 replies

I'm certainly not a Plouffe fan, but will admit his defense has improved some. It couldn't have gotten much worse. I still cringe when he steps into the box, despite his unusual number of doubles. But someone in the FO likes him a ton more than me, so he'll be manning 3rd base til someone else can, all his brain farts aside. I wouldn't even consider him for the outfield. He's to slow and mentally it'd take way to long for him to adjust to the change. I'd move him as soon as there's a replacement. We could easily get a better outfield option for him.

Good for Virgil Vasquez! If you ever get the chance to talk to him, do so. He'll talk all day. He's a good guy, and funny too.
