  1. That was a good day, all around. Fun to see Max have a great night, and I like how he responds to questions afterwards. I've been believing that they can compete next year and that's not going to change.
  2. I sold a Mantle card this summer for 3,900! I've still got a lot of cards, but not worth much as the grading system is really picky. Not really worth paying to have them graded so I'm thinking on what to do with them.
  3. Got a chuckle out of Ruesse yesterday. They were talking about AJ, his longevity et al, and it was noted AJ has over 2200 hits. At 39 years old, he's liable to play one more year. So Ruesse says AJ will probably be on the HOF ballot for a number of years, and wouldn't it be funny if AJ made it and Joe didn't. That would be classic! On a side note, AJ had Sano totally confused as to what pitch was coming last night. He just toyed with him.
  4. Could be the longest game thread in history! Looks like something was seriously wrong!
  5. The first thing Antony should do is get rid of Plouffe. Not that that would save his job, just something that should of been done 3 years ago and it cost TR his job.
  6. I could never root against my team. Play your best and play out the season. The teams been watchable lately.
  7. The Strib had a poll on the new GM: Internal, or outside the org. 97% voted outside and 3% internal. I think it was Mackey and Judd I heard it on. It was something like over 1600 to 50. They joked that Antony and his friends and family voted along with Twins coaches. I'd say the 97% are likely tickets buyers and the Pohlads should listen to them.
  8. He has been playing good defense. I'm surprised at some of the digs and dives he makes. Still painful to see the first pitch strike down the middle though.
  9. Wow, total shock. I really thought they'd wait and Terry would retire at the end of the season. This just doesn't make much sense. Unless, Terry's health is failing and it was his idea. I'll bet the players and coaches are shocked. If this has anything to do with the trade deadline, I'm of the opinion Terry was going to go full bore in trading, and the Pohlads weren't. I'm definitely not an Anthony fan, no way he keeps the job. I'll be there's a lot more to come out in this story.
  10. Grrreat intro!! Just what I needed on a Monday morning. Now for some rice krispies.
  11. Some debby downers always have to complain about something, and now someone is complaining that we beat the Rangers 3 of 4 because their staff is lousy. Well, for the last several years it seemed like every time we faced some not so hot pitcher we made him look like Cy Young. What's next?
  12. Coomer is the worst by far. Nunez shouldn't even be considered, he's having a great year. Joe Mays deserved it. I agree, kind of a downer thread.
  13. I'm taking for granted Nolasco is gone, and Hughes not in the roatation.
  14. No way would I trade Santana. An offer would just have to be totally lopsided in our favor to consider. And his contract is fair. Many have overly optimistic views of our young arms, but how many will even make the majors, and is there even one that will be as good as Santana. The minors are just a step above the St Paul Saints, granted Kintzler pitched for the Saints and is having success at the major league level, but not many make it. Hamburger is back pitching for the Saints. The Twins will need a veteran arm to lead the younger guys for the next 2 years and Santana is that guy. There will be 2 or 3 rotation guys gone by next spring and hopefully a rotation that will give up a chance for a much better record. Keep Santana to lead that rotation.
  15. We didn't add to the runs scored total today, the average is going down.
  16. Buxton could be a little bruised up after that catch the other night. I can't see sending him down. More likely a pitcher. Hoping for a good start from Vargas today to get him rolling.
