Ranking the Twins Designated Hitters So Far
farmerguychris replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This just gave me another indicator that we really need to come up with a plan for the future of our C position. Hoping Jeffers can turn it around, but if he can't DH and he's a No. 2 catcher - what is the plan when Sanchez is a FA after this year? Platoon DH works for me, more roster flexability!- 10 replies

In regards to Kepler's comments that he wishes everyone could be there - THEY COULD HAVE. They simply chose not to. A little less of a Kepler fan now. I do wish they were all there!

Are the Twins an Experiment in Action?
farmerguychris replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't think its an intentional experiment. Correa fell into our laps when he didn't get the deal he wanted. Injuries have opened up a place for Arraez to play nearly every day. The only thing that may have been intentional was to let some of our young pitchers get a shot, but even that has been impacted by injuires. Impressed so far- but lets see where we are in 2 months.- 38 replies

What do you think the likelihood of someone from the FO sitting down with Carlos and his agent sometime between now and the trade deadline to see if they can determine the chances that Carlos stays for at least year 2 of his deal. If he says he's "90% likely to opt out", I think we should consider trading him regardless of where we are in the standings. What do you think? Here is why: 1- The potential return haul of prospects is something that could be overwhelming for a player of Correa's status to a playoff contender looking to get over the top. 2 - While we may win our division - are we really a World Series contender at this point? 3 - While Lewis is no Correa, he has the potential to be an adequate starter in the league don't you think? 4 - Some may think by trading a superstar so early into his deal, that it may make it harder to sign other free agent superstars in the future - but lets be real, who was the last superstar we signed anyway before him? While I think Correa has been a great addition to our team, someone I never expected us to sign - I think the potential return for him in trade could be something we have to consider unless we really think we have a chance at winning it all this year. Thoughts?

Alex Kirilloff is Becoming a Question
farmerguychris replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm hoping they are out there getting 2nd and even 3rd for 4th opinions on his wrist. I'm sure we have great doctors - but sometimes just need something looked at by new eyes. Hopeful he can make a full recovery. -
Ranking the 2022 Minnesota Twins' Walkup Songs

My favorite is from Gio Urshela! Was watching in TV and in a different room and had to head back to make sure I heard what I thought I heard. Great platform.- 10 replies

Assessing the Twins Trade for Chris Paddack
farmerguychris replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I love looking at other team's sites during trades like this also. To me this trade seems like both teams can potentially claim a W depending on how the next couple years shake out.- 86 replies

Assessing the Twins Trade for Chris Paddack
farmerguychris replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Its a smart long term move. Sorry to see Rogers go, but he had a much better run as a dependable reliever than most as a Twin. Good luck to him.- 86 replies

I don't mind this deal. Good long term plan to trade relievers with only 1 year of team control for a starter with multiple years. Good to replace said reliever (in addition to starter) by trading our 5th OF who would probably been lost for nothing after being DFA'd. Losing Rogers hurts, but we have some potential studs in the pipeline who can be in the pen this year instead of AAA.

Minnesota’s Farm System May Be Tapped Out by 2023
farmerguychris replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Can't sweat it yet. I'm sure we'll have some redundant players in positions of depth that we will swap for new, younger talent that can develop down the road.- 25 replies

Twins 2022 Position Analysis: Designated Hitter
farmerguychris replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I liked Cruz as much as the rest of us, but I gotta agree that I like the flexability we have now where our DH could play in the field as well. Admit I did want to see Nelson play 1B however since he seemed to like it so much.- 24 replies

I think this is a great move that I never expected. Story sure - he's a star as well but not at this level. WORST case scenario, we never get any good starts from our still TBD pitching rotation and we flip him for about half a dozen high prospects to a big market team, and by then hopefully Lewis or Martin have proven able to man SS. Very, very exciting time to be a Twins Fan!

Twins To Sign Carlos Correa
farmerguychris replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
HOLY ****. For real???? What a great plan, and even if has opt outs to let us see if Lewis or Martin are our future at that position. This Front Office just earned HUGE credit from me and gained my trust going forward to be able to pull this off. -
Trevor Story’s Splits Shouldn’t Scare You
farmerguychris replied to Thiéres Rabelo's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Its not JUST about his ability to hit. Heck, take that out of the equation. If he's even an average SS hitter, he is also a solid defender in a position of need at an age that he could play out the entire contract (unlike Donaldson). He will make the team better and we can figure out what to do with Lewis and Martin when the time comes. Never balk at adding talent to a position of need. -
Offseason Status Update: Back to Business
farmerguychris replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I see the signing has begun (Cards with a RHP).....much slower than I anticipated. I kind of thought teams would have been speaking to each other during the lockout -and we might already have a trade in place for a pitcher. Hopefully some talks took place over the past 99 days. -
What Role Will Luis Arraez Fill in 2022?
farmerguychris replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm afraid despite being a fan of his - for the best long term interest of the team - I gotta go with sell high and try to trade for pitching. Those knees aren't going to get any better and he could be out of the game in 5 years. -
The Lockout Diaries: Week 12

I remember the triples; oddly I don't remember the errors. Thanks for the write up. -
Neither Robertson or Beckham sound like someone who is going to catapult us into a first round playoff victory - might as well let Gordon keep developing.

Dreaming On Trevor Story to the Twins
farmerguychris replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sign him - If Royce comes up and is ready and capable at SS, we have a good problem. Someone can be traded for pitching. Find a way to sign some talent - he would make our team better than it is today.
