  1. Sano has just really got to figure out how to cut the K's down. His walk rate is fine, his power is prodigious. But he has less AB's then the other three and at least 99+ K's over the rest. It's killing his #'s.
  2. Why? The Twins would tender him and make him the utility player at worst. Marwin is gone. His bat was quite good in 2019! That's a great player type to take a gamble on!
  3. I like this signing. We've seen how depth is important. Lin is that, not a frontline starter, or even Plan B. He's Plan D, E, or F.
  4. I don't remember all these games, but that AL Wild Card against the Yanks (which started off with a homer by Dozier that I told my old man he would hit) is still scarring.
  5. Obviously it depends on the contract, but I see no particular reason why the Twins should be looking to move on from Cruz. Great hitter and great clubhouse presence. I would move on from Rosario, and sign somebody like Kevin Pillar (who can not only come off the bench to steal a base, but also serve as a defensive replacement in late innings and serve as Buxton insurance) to man LF until a prospect is ready. If the prospect comes up, you've got one of the best fourth outfielders in the league, and if he doesn't you have a perfectly serviceable LF'er, probably for cheaper then Rosario.
  6. You do your thing, and I'll do mine. I'm not gonna try and justify anything to you. I don't need to. But when I turn on baseball, it's to watch baseball. If MLB wants to broadcast something else, more power to them. But they shouldn't be surprised if I go watch something else. I'm not mad about the cause of the Twins postponement. It was a one day thing, whatever. Rain Delays happen too. My work provides me plenty of opportunity to deal with difficult choices and fear of the unknown. Injuries abound in my line of work. No one needs to remind me that life can really suck. I've seen enough dead and wounded for that.
  7. "People who cannot find time for recreation are sooner or later to find time for illness." –John Wanamaker Not selfish. Self-Preservation. Everyone needs to do what they enjoy for a measure of time to preserve their sanity and themselves. If one source of enjoyment is closed, they will simply find another.
  8. Headline should read: Sports aren't our escape anymore. Not sure what the point is anymore.
  9. IDK that you can count Harper. He dropped out of HS, got his GED, and went to a JUCO during what would normally be his Senior Year. I don't think that's what people would normally call a "college" bat.
  10. It seems to me that if he had any chance of 4/80, he would have turned down the QO. I seem his as more of a 4/60 kinda guy.
  11. Believe what you will, but Lonnie Smith claims that the decoy didn't fool him, he just had no idea where the ball went and couldn't find it. As to why he wasn't looking at the third base coach, I couldn't answer that either.
  12. Not that he ever will do it, because of playing time and consistency issues, but the player with the best profile to break that record is probably Astudillo. Again, he never will, but he undeniably puts the ball in play an AWFUL lot. If you extrapolated out his 2018 season to 600 PA's, he would have had about 125 RBI's. Now imagine if he was hitting out of the 4-hole all season.
  13. With Duran @ 13 and Balazovic @ 8, Graterol has to be top 5. He qualifies as a top pitching prospect near the big-leagues, as the most top pitching prospect closest and actually in the Bigs. That's following the author's logic anyhow.
  14. I don't understand why the Rox would trade Gray and Story for such a light return. I'm not sure that trade gets Story by himself. Nor would the Rays trade Glasnow+ for Kepler...
  15. Yea I don't understand the Sano to 1st talk unless it's to accommodate Donaldson or Rendon. I don't have any interest in Moose. I don't hate Cron's bat, as all things considered I'd rather have anaverage RH then an average LH bat in this lineup. Just spend the money on pitching, a backup C, and a player who can play backup CF and steal bases (I'm all for signing Billy Hamilton for this reason, he would fill a niche the Twins don't currently have.)
  16. Not that he's coming to MN, but Rendon would also qualify as a better corner infield bat.
  17. I like the argument, but the Fangraphs $$$'s are laughable. WAR isn't worth 8 MM a year. Mike Trout is going to make 36 MM next year. Max Kepler is a great player, but he isn't worth Mike Trout money.
  18. I saw a quote stating the Mets GM was basically a kindergartner practicing finger-painting when it comes to these trade negotiations. I fully understand starting at a high price, but asking for Buxton seems downright childish. If he asked for all the Twins top 100 prospects I'd understand (it wouldn't get the deal done obviously), but asking for a guy who is a key piece in a team looking to contend for a championship just seems more likely to stop a conversation then start one.
  19. Right, but you are gonna still count on him to be your normal CF, but if he ends up going out ala Morneau (very possible for him), it's gonna hurt because you were counting on him to be effective/present. I'm very concerned that he will decline much like Morneau, and generally just become ineffective even when present. Like I said, I would only go year to year (MAYBE 2 year deals at the max) with Buck.
