  1. I can't envision a way that the Twins would spend the kind of money it would take to get Donaldson or Bryant. I am wondering what the blowback would be if they did spend that money then said they can'y afford a near top line pitcher. UGH! Moose would be my choice. The Twins don't have any great player currently playing 3rd in the minors so this is a timely question. They also must look at the long term future of Lewis and Polanco. Lots of questions to ponder.
  2. Can he be trusted? He was hit with the PED bit this season, but was he not caught having pine tar on his neck when he was a Yankee? My memory is bad but that is what I am coming up with. If he is that rulebook challenged, what is next when the team really needs him?
  3. First, I would like to thank the TD owners, contributors and fans for a great season of Twins coverage. It is always a joy to start my day with a visit to TD. My wife and I were discussing the Twins off-season and what moves are possible. WE started with which players would return which would not. We discussed who would replace the departed players from within the system. Then we asked which players (not prospects) would we be willing to trade. Of course it all depends on the return but thoughts are of trading one or more of Rosario, Sano and Buxton. All of these players are immensely valuable to the Twins, but the FA market will be thin and expensive. The return for prospects would be very costly also on the long term front. Trading Kiriloff, Larnach, Rooker, Graderol, Lewis, etc would throw a real blanket over the future. Many talk a great deal about the Yankees buying the best players but it is my sense that they do a really great job of developing their draft picks. That is where a mid market team like the Twins needs to be to compete in the long run. I want a WS win like everyone else, but I don't want the dead years that can follow a championship like the Kansas City fans have to endure.
  4. I am with you on the TV lineup. MLB network isn't even available for us up here in NW Minnesota unless we have satellite tv. I blame the Yankees. Seems reasonable as I have blamed them for lots of things for decades.
  5. For a good part of the game last night, it appeared to me that a number of guys on both teams were less than interested in playing that game. I can't say that I blame them, but.....
  6. Assuming the Twins win the division and get the Yankees in the playoffs, I could see Cleveland beating the Astros in the other division playoff. I am not sure I would want to face that team. They are on fire.
  7. Give him some low pressure outings and see what they have.
  8. UC is an incredibly difficult condition. My son has it and suffers greatly. You never know when it will flair up and how debilitating it will be. Stress seems to be a contributing factor as well, so a pennant race plus the impending birth of his 3rd child cannot be great. Hopefully, he can get it under control enough to continue and be successful.
  9. When the Twins went up by 3 in the 8th, I was looking for Rocco to put another reliever in so Rogers could be used next game.
  10. I'm not an analytics guy and never will be (too damn old), but from the eye test, Sano looks like a black hole at the plate and a "hit or miss" 3rd baseman. If he was consistently good at one of the two he would be fine. But sadly, I do not see that right now and doubt he will improve any time in the future. I keep seeing people say they don't want another Ortiz situation, but if the team does nothing and continues to get the same results it is an unforced error. Either fix him quickly or send him down the road.
  11. Sano appears to have totally recaptured his tendencies at the plate from previous years. HE IS BECOMING A RALLY KILLER ONCE AGAIN.
  12. I can't figure Romero out. He seems to be pitching fine in Rochester but can't find the plate in the bigs. I sure hope he can figure it out.
  13. Tortuga's hitting has seemed to cool off lately, as well. I wonder if he could be sent down when Garver comes back.
  14. Did anyone else enjoy the banter between Kaat and Blylevin last night? I'm not a Blylevin fan but the talk between these two old team mates was great. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
  15. With the questionable starting pitching the Twins have, where could help be? Looks like Gio G. is going to opt out on his contract with the Yankees. Is he someone the Twins could use? After a bad first start in AAA, he looks to have righted the ship.
  16. MLB would have a wet dream thinking about all the Red Sox - Yankee World series possibilities.
  17. What I see is a farm system with the talent to not only provide a solid future for the Twins by itself, but also with the talent to acquire MLB players to improve the current roster as needed. What a change from the past! Thanks Seth. Great insight as always.
  18. 1B/OF - OF/1B sure look like a logjam forming. Maybe some trade fodder here. Great stuff Steve. I really enjoy this.
  19. It's fun to see an actual MLB roster sent out versus what we have seen in years past, isn't it?
  20. I think we will see a 50/50 split at catcher. As the season progresses, we may see more Garver and less Castro with a sprinkling of our baby panda. Castro's health seems to me (with no real knowledge) something to keep an eye on.
  21. As a former season ticket holder, I can confirm your take. We had a group that sat behind us one year that drove us nuts. The whole game the guys would be jumping up and pushing to get out and back in to their seats (pushing everyone around them). Their wives would be doing selfies the whole game while discussing loudly anything and everything except baseball. We knew all about their kids, families, jobs and unfortunately their sex lives.
