  1. I totally get sending out Kirilloff with a guy like Gordon or Gonsalves. But to suggest that Romero would be an add-on to Kirilloff? Romero is significantly more valuable than Kirilloff, and he isn't even in the same universe as a guy like Gonsalves. That's a hard no from me. You can't send off the only good pitchers you develop, especially for two years of a guy who's in the middle of a career year that we can't even use to contend.
  2. That makes sense in theory, but if there's a guy who's ready to step right in to the major league team and start contributing, why is he in the Twins' AAA system? I'd guess that the guys who are forced to take minor league deals are forced to take minor league deals for a reason. I'd also guess that every AAA team is full of quantity over quality. Do you have suggestions for players they could have taken instead of the ones you named? I'm imagine there are better options out there with the benefit of hindsight. Anyone out there now you could grab for depth?
  3. Do you have a substantive reply? If you disagree, I’d love to hear why. Seems like it might be an interesting discussion.
  4. He was Rule 5 eligible. I was against putting him on the 40 man because I didn’t see a way another team could keep him in the big leagues all year even if he was selected. I was, disappointingly, correct. And the way he’s going he won’t get rostered or selected next year either.
  5. I'm pretty sure that Romero has already used 2018 as an option year, meaning there's no downside, option-wise, to sending him up and down on the shuttle. So, rather than faking a DL stint, which is pretty shady, they can send him to whichever minors team is out of the running and have him rest a bit before coming back up. Maybe make two-inning start or two to stay sharp. Also, I'd be interested to see something like a piggyback situation if they want to limit innings or pitches but don't want to go to a six-man rotation. Could we bring up Slegers and have him pitch a "normal" game after Romero has gone through the lineup once? Mejia could work too, and he's already got a history of short outings in the majors, so a piggyback situation could be a win-win there. Given the bullpen struggles of late, it could be a win-win-win. In any case, based on what happened to Romero in the minors last year, I think fatigue is most likely coming, and it's possible that he hits a wall at some point like he did last year. If he does, you shut him down. Before that would happen, if at all possible, I think you give him minor league rest time or limit his use via piggybacking to avoid him hitting a wall at all, at least before rosters expand.
  6. Seems like if you can get that out of round five you're doing better than most.
  7. Cole Sands is the next pick. Pitcher out of Florida State. Pick 154 and MLB has him ranked at 116. Seems promising.
  8. Really appreciate it. This is an exciting time, but the baseball draft is easily the most difficult to wrap your head around.
  9. DaShawn Keirsey in round 4. I hope there are some writeups because I know nothing about these guys.
  10. I expressed skepticism in the past about Kirilloff, and I'll own up to it. He's making me look like an idiot. He needs to move up, and frankly, I hope he keeps making me look like an idiot in Ft. Myers.
  11. gunnarthor posted this on Vasil in the more general thread: https://www.mlb.com/news/latest-2018-mlb-draft-news-from-callis-mayo/c-277888816 I like what I hear about him. Hopefully the control can improve.
  12. Interesting to see Dozier hitting oppo doubles. SSS coincidence, adjustment, some mix of both?
  13. In a vacuum, calling an 18 year old up to the majors is NOT a win-now move. Guess we'll see what happens.
  14. The problem with this is that the opposite is perfectly plausible too. He's so worried about his upcoming contract year, his last time to cash in, that he's pressing, letting nerves get to him, trying to do too much. I mean, at this point who knows, right? But something needs to change.
  15. Cash. Seems like he might have been a victim of numbers at the higher minors. Of course, being 26 without much pedigree, he isn't the type who's likely to come back to haunt you. Best of luck to him anyway. From: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/05/minor-mlb-transactions-5918.html
  16. "No, no, no. The seam on the left side of the ball." Seriously though, that's a good question. Though if there's anyone to learn a changeup from, Rodney seems like a good choice.
  17. I, for one, think Sisqo should sing it. "Kolten Wong wong wong wong wong."
