  1. Put very "eloquently." That's how I remember myself on draft day too. With just a short amount of hindsight, however, I have really come around to Royce Lewis and Brent Rooker, who were both pushed very hard very early, and have responded quite well. Also, by the time they got to Blayne Enlow, I was reconsidering. I agree with beckmt that he could be a real gem, and we were lucky to be able to snag him, albeit way overslot, with such a low draft pick.
  2. If I were a young shortstop, I'd probably look at Lewis, Gordon, Javier, and Palacios; then take a quick gander at the nobody that the Angels have in their system; then I'd probably pick the Angels too. Though given the Twins' depth and the Angels' propensity for trading prospects for fading veterans, he'll probably be wearing a different uniform by the time he hits the majors anyway.
  3. I do. These stats are stochastic. Who would you rather have? A pitcher who is consistently excellent for 50 outings minus 2 or 3 blowups and who ends up with mediocre stats, the worst of which are bunched into those 2 or 3 games? Or a pitcher who is consistently mediocre for 50 games and ends up with mediocre stats because he's mediocre? I know who I'm picking. Edit: Also, was the "I'm willing to give a free pass" a pun on his walks? If so it totally went over my head the first time. Well done.
  4. If Brandon Weeden tells us anything, you're probably right. But if Brandon Weeden tells us anything, he's probably best grinding it out in baseball for another year or two. He's got the pedigree. The Twins would love nothing more than Stewart making the the MLB. Even - especially - the new front office. But if it won't happen, it won't happen. Take a big step forward in 2018, Kohl Stewart, and you're on the 25 man in a cinch. This year, I'm not sure you're sticking with any team.
  5. John Lackey is a bad person and a bad teammate. I don't care if he's free. Hard pass.
  6. I'm really excited to see what Benninghoff can do. He's one of those guys you gamble with after the 10th round if you've got the pool money to do it. He got mid-third round money, so there's got to be some real projection there.
  7. Colombian Spanish is too easy! I kid, but there is a distinct Caribbean accent that you'd likely have to deal with in baseball. Personally I hear an enormous difference between when I'm in Mexico or Colombia, and when I'm in Panama. The islands are supposed to even more mashed. Maybe start practicing Spanish with like three or four marbles in your mouth. See what it sounds like.
  8. He never said it was a conspiracy. And there's strong evidence across many professional sports that home field advantage is real, and it is largely attributable to officiating. In a raucous place like New York, why wouldn't you think that that would continue to hold true? What he said was reasonable and supported by evidence. It doesn't have to be a conspiracy theory. And he doesn't need your permission to post even if it were.
  9. Yeah, these recaps are awesome. They have kept me away from ESPN (aka the LeBron Channel), and that can only be a good thing.
  10. He makes half a million more than the highest-paid player in Korea. I'm guessing he sticks it out for another year, unless he's at the point where he doesn't care about the money.
  11. http://food.fnr.sndimg.com/content/dam/images/food/fullset/2012/1/24/3/FNM_030112-WNDinners-048_s4x3.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.616.462.suffix/1371603344287.jpeg
  12. It was far more subdued than you might have though, but yes, still Bremering.
