Beckham caught my eye the other day also. Another problem of where he would play. Expect the best we could hope for from him is to stay hot to give him some value next month so he could be included as a meaningful part of trade X.

Evan Sisk is having a fantastic season for the Wind Surge/Saints. Do those of you who know more about him believe he could be someone to help the Twins pen? Perhaps even later this year? Always great seeing Severino have a big day. The Twins gotta get something for one of these huge investments in young kids from the islands.

Twins Minor League Report (6/14): Alex Kirilloff Does It Again
roger replied to Steve Lein's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
See that Schulfer had an off night for the Saints, allowing 2 runs. Great seeing DeAndrade with a mult-hit game. Same for Wander Javier, who I believe has had a couple multi-hit games this past week or so. Will join the growing roster of fans who want to see AK with the Twins. But in reality, don't know who he would replace and where he would play. I guess he could give Arraez, Larnach and Kepler a day off every week, then be the DH the rest of the time instead of the normal light hitter catcher being DH. Suppose that makes too much sense, however.- 19 replies

Minnesota’s Second Coming of Rod Carew
roger replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My point was that he has similar energy. Did mention that the comparison ends when he steps into the batter's box.- 46 replies

Minnesota’s Second Coming of Rod Carew
roger replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not me, I love this kid and want to see him retire as a Twin many years from now. With that said, I hope they sign him to a contract this winter, maybe something similar to the recent Polanco/Kepler deals. The highlight of most games for me is watching his at bats. Gotta love those 8-9-10-11 pitch at bats that have to be so frustrating for the pitcher. Understand that he reported to spring training several pounds lighter (does anyone know how many?) and in the best shape of his life. Result is that he looks to be running much better and although not a base stealer, looks fine scoring from second or even first. Also believe that he is working his way into being their regular first baseman, this year and beyond. If Jared Spurgeon can be a team leader and top defenseman, Luis Arraez can be a starting first baseman. The one ex-Twin he reminds me a lot of is Astudillo as he brings a lot of the same energy as the Turtle. That comparison ends however, when he steps into the batter's box. I believe this young man can continue hitting like he does throughout the year and hope like heck we are wondering come Labor Day, could he flirt with .400? If not this year, maybe next?- 46 replies

True. But hopefully, health permitting, they will soon have Gray, Ryan, Ober, Smeltzer and Archer. With Winder piggy-backing with Archer and Bundy in long relief...or moved on down the road for a AA reliever, ala those two trades last July. I forget which starter they sent to St. Louis, but after a rough couple months last fall Sisk is having a really nice year.

I know how much work goes into these weekly reports, Seth. Thank you! Any chance the Bonilla pitching in the DSL is related to the Bonilla who was in the organization for many years awhile ago? Cannot tell you how happy I am for the entire Saints team and organization. Really great seeing them recover so they can keep CHS Field filled with fans. And what a butt kicking they put on a first place Red Wings team, yahooooo! Don't know what winning at nearly every level means for the future of the Twins, but this entire organization is on fire. I know two or three huge prospects may mean more than overall team success, however, it is very encouraging to see all this success. As for getting AK back with the Twins, I think they are going to have to complete a trade to do so. Sure appears Arraez is establishing himself as their first baseman of today and tomorrow. So that puts AK into a corner outfield spot and fill-in at first when Luis needs a break. With Larnach and Keps manning the corners, some move/injury is going to be needed to open a spot. Also know it is too early to mean anything, but interesting seeing Michel doing well to start his career.

Thats the way it is supposed to work, Arraez leads off with a hit and Buxton cranks one. Didn't see the game, but have learned to enjoy watching Archer pitch. The way he bounces around the mound reminds me of a high school kid having the time of his life. Love it. Expect they are are going to be very careful with his innings so he can pitch 5 or 6 come the playoffs. Seems like Jax is really settling into a nice role late in games. Hopefully, Winder can return next week to be that long relief guy to back Archer up and save the rest of the pen.

Do we have a catching problem? Yes. How do we fix it? Not a clue, that’s what the guys making the big bucks in the FO are paid to do. Will it get fixed? Probably not till the offseason, if then. And let’s remember that prior to this weekend Jeffers hadn’t thrown anybody out and the first one was safe till he overslid second base.

Don’t know where he plays back with the Twins, but they gotta find a way to get AK back up with the big club. No concern with the results, just happy to see Enlow back on the mound pitching.

Twins 6, Rays 5: Arraez Slam Leads Twins over Rays
roger replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I see Rocco is torn about how best rest his stars. What I don’t understand is why Sanchez is the DH when Buxton and Correa have how many home runs the last two or three games? For that matter, I don’t see why either of these catchers is ever the DH.- 76 replies

Twins Minor League Report (6/10): A Near Sweep
roger replied to Lucas Seehafer PT's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Curious about Canterino. You mentioned his elbow, someone said the other day it was an illness? See that after a couple games where Severino hit very well, he is now down around Javier territory. Ouch! Exciting to see the start Alexander Pena is off to again. A bit surprised to see him still with the Complex League team after what seemed to be a great year last year. Expect some will question his power seeing his only extra base hits last year were 6 doubles in 84 at bats. That sure seems to have been addressed as he has 3 doubles, a triple and home run in 12 at bats early this year. Gotta believe he is due to move across the parking lot to the Mussels...soon!- 12 replies

Partial ACL Tear Ends Lewis's Season... Again!

No doubt in my mind, Rosterman, that the Twins starting shortstop next opening day will be either Carlos Correa or Palacios. -
Partial ACL Tear Ends Lewis's Season... Again!
roger replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My comment, Seth, was oh Sh...... As for those who blame the Twins for playing him in Center, I have always believed his biggest risk was at shortstop. With his speed there is a real danger when going after a deep foul pop up near the tarp. Unfortunately if he goes under the knife next week the earliest he will be back is next year’s all-star break. If Correa isn’t back at least we know Palacios can handle short. -
3 Observations from the Twins-Yankees Series
roger replied to Melissa Berman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am hopeful that the four young bullpen kids, Cotton, Cano, Duran and Moran all learned a lot last night. Expect them to be better next time they see the Yankees. Would have loved to have had Alcala available, but that isn’t looking good. Add Jax to the above group with starters pitching deeper into games and this pen may not be all that bad. Expect next time they will get the job done.- 20 replies

Great start for Ryan, just wondering why he was scheduled to pitch only 3.0 innings? Hopefully, he is back with the Twins come Tuesday. Then get Winder back on Wednesday and this starting rotation will look soooo much better when Gray also returns...Gray, Ryan, Winder, Archer and Smeltzer, until Ober returns. Just don't know what to think about Steer. Is he really this good? Is he really this year's Miranda? Biggest problem may be...where will he play on the Twins? Does that set him up to be a prime candidate to be included in an important July trade?

If the catcher is a good hitter and top defensive catcher, I pray he falls and they take him. I don’t know if any of the guys in the minors are future starters. I do know that neither of the two starters should be starting for a top contender.

Is Austin Martin Minnesota’s Best Trade Chip?
roger replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We would be selling low. Will Martin become a star, don’t know but expect the Twins remain higher on him than most here. Also will be surprised if they do as big of a deal as most h.ere want. I like our starting staff, assuming most get healthy... and stay healthy. What I do think we need is one more solid late inning guy. A rental may not be all that expensive a month from now. -
Hurts that Rodriguez will miss some time as I see him as someone who could move quickly up the ladder to the Twins. But what really hurts is Canterino going on the IL. Any word on what the injury is, how long he is expected to be out? This kid just can't seem to get healthy and put a full year under his belt. It's a shame, damn shame. Loved seeing Rosario with another big night. Hopefully, he will continue hitting well and put his early season slump behind him.

Miranda sure has caught my attention the past few games. Is hitting like the player we were so excited about all last year. Does his defense at first and third need work, you betcha. But that should come with experience over the next few years. I would wager that come 2025 he will be considered average or better at whatever corner infield spot he is playing. Larnach just looks like a big time hitter. To be honest, he is better than I expected and his defense is a huge improvement. Ad Celestino and you have a trio of players who should be solid members of the Twins for years to come. Considering that Lewis could/should be the best of the group and you have a very exciting, young Twins team going forward. Where AK fits into this group, I don't know. It will start with his eventually getting called back to Target Field and hitting like he has in St. Paul. Maybe at some point he becomes the second corner outfielder who can back up first base, when needed. Saw that Ryan is starting for the Saints tonight and Winder goes Friday. Both should be back with the Twins next week. That will make the starting rotation better, much better. Also wondering, has Jax become the Twins second best reliever?

Also curious why Hajjar only threw 2.0 innings? Absolutely fantastic that DeAndrade is beginning his career Stateside with lots of hits. Remember seeing A. Pena ripping the cover off the ball early last summer. See he is off to another great start. Also curious why he is repeating in the FCL. With the year he had last year, shouldn't he be playing with the Mussels? Speaking of the draft, when is it?

Thanks for the report, Seth. Great seeing Rosario with a very good week. And Rodriguez is hitting unlike anything we would have hoped for. Assuming this is who he is, what do you see as a realistic timeline for his getting to the Twins?

Somehow the Twins need to get AK back in their lineup. He and Arraez can split time at first base with the other either at DH or a few games in right (AK) or second (Arraez). That would put Jeffers on the bench, when not catching...which is good. Lost in all the long balls was another solid relief outing from Schulfer. Can this kid help the Twins before year's end? Also good to see Julien doing what he does. Saw he had another steal of third. Really like the speed he brings to the game. When the Twins get some of their injured/COVID guys back, they are gonna have to take a hard look at doing a deal or two. Maybe one nice deal for a solid reliever.

Loved how scrappy this group is becoming. Celestino, Gordon, Palacios and Arraez. And damn, that Palacios kid can pick it at short. Also like Moran, who can be more than a lefty specialist. Now let’s hope like heck that Duran wasn’t injured. Gotta get Alcala healthy. Did he throw today in Ft. Myers? Or were they rained out again by the storm?

Count me among those who are thrilled with how AK has been hitting of late. Agree it is time to bring him back to Target Field. Only problem is who goes down and where does he play? I personally like how Arraez is progressing at first, although AK is likely still the better defensive first baseman. If Garlick goes on the IL, could replace him. Only thing is he is another left handed bat. And this problem is going to get worse when Sano comes off the IL, whenever that will be as he will need a lengthy rehab stint. Certainly looks to me that the Twins need to trade someone or even two guys over the next 30-45 days to get more relief pitching and solve this logjam. Also noticed recently that we were seeing Soularie getting more hits and multi-hit games. Same with Cavaco. Maybe both can take that next step and get going on that long climb to the BIGS. Looking at all these very solid starting pitchers down on the farm makes me wonder. Can just one of these guys turn into the next Joe Nathan or Glen Perkins? Yes Duran can be a top closer. But the best teams need at least three top of the line late inning relievers.
