  1. Cannot tell you how pleased I was when I read the reason Raya went on the IL was to get his wisdom teeth pulled. Considering how well he pitched last time out, maybe should leave them in. And what a fantastic game, and start to his season, for SWR. Now lets all be patient and let him work his way up to the Twins on a realistic timetable and not start calling for his promotion next week.
  2. Buxton in the Twins lineup, Twins win a lot. Buxton out of the lineup, Twins lose a lot. I don't care what arm the pitcher throws with, get Arraez in the lineup....every day. Kid should get a day rest about every ten games. That would have him playing around 145 games. Sitting him about half the time makes no sense to me.
  3. Will agree with Mike, can't judge this trade until we learn who the PTBNL is. Will look a lot better should it be that catcher rated among their top 15 prospects. Well, that assumes he turns into a starter three years from now.
  4. With the Twins no longer available on most streaming services and many cutting ties with cable, no one is going to see these jersey's anyway....so it isn't a big thing to me. Otherwise, count me among the people who like baseball the way it was played the first 100+ years of its existence.
  5. Loved the pick when the Twins drafted Raya. Then disappointed when we didn't see him pitch last summer. But the wait sure as heck looks worth it. Kid is still what, 19? If he keeps pitching like this he could end up being special when he reaches the Twins. Another sad start to his season for Javier, so it is good to see him with a blast last night. But he needs to start getting on base more if he is ever going to make it. Kid was such a great signing a long time ago. Still hopeful, but hope is waning. Also good seeing Povich follow up his great first start with a very solid outing. Really believe that the pitching pipeline is solid with the first guys just beginning to arrive. The staff should be so much better in 2023 and moreso in 2024.
  6. I think one word describes both last night and the Twins minor league teams start to the season. WOW!
  7. Reading today’s box scores, kept wondering where Urbina is? Is he injured? Or in EST?
  8. Great seeing Martin with two hits last night, although the Wind Surge bats and record is starting the season cold, cold, cold. After two very nice starts to begin his season, gotta ask...does Sands 'stuff' play at the big league level?
  9. When I went to the Twins transaction page, Ober was listed as going on the 10-day IL. After seeing yours and other comments, went and re-checked. It isn't there now. Gotta believe that he was listed by mistake, and I saw it before the correction.
  10. Crap, crap, crap. Boooooooooo! This kid could be special. Reminds me a lot of Kubel before he got hurt. Beginning to mirror Kubel's career too bloody much. Also see that in addition to Alcala on the IL, Baily Ober joins him there. I guess that solves the 6-man rotation problem. Also waived Cotton, who I thought was doing ok.
  11. You mean trade for a young catcher, maybe someone like Ben Rortvedt?
  12. Thanks for today's summary, Steve. When the Twins took the two lefties back-to-back in the second and third rounds of last year's draft, I was hoping that for once they could strike gold and one of these guys would be on the fast track to Target Field. For whatever reason, probably after watching Seth's interviews this winter, Povich seems to me to be the most likely candidate to accomplish that. His fantastic start last night will keep my dreams (and I expect his) alive for another week. Isn't it fantastic having four young stars in the lineup every day down at Fort Myers? Miller, Rodriguez, Cavaco and Rosario are all off to great starts. And that is fantastic news for Cavaco. Keep it going boys! Was also happy to finally see Marco Raya on the mound pitching in a real game. Sounds like he was very solid, before likely tiring in the fifth inning. Remain convinced that he and Rosario are the two big finds the Twins got out of that shortened 2020 draft.
  13. Maybe they could get a young catcher, say Valenzuela, who isn’t ranked as high as those listed above.
  14. Thanks for the summary, Nash. The best news in my opinion was looking at the prospect summary and seeing no, nada, zero, zip players listed as "INJURED." Seemed like nearly half of your top 20 spent much of 2021 out injured. Seeing the clean slate is fantastic news.
  15. I think the Twins won the trade before taking the PTBNL into consideration. I knew nothing about Pagan, but what I saw in his first outing, I liked. So I don't see it as a big downgrade from Rogers to Pagan. Add the huge difference between Paddack and Rooker and I see it as a Twins win. That was partially offset by the $6.6M, thus something coming back makes sense. But like several above, I don't see it as being a prospect as highly ranked as those listed. If it were one of them, I would view it as an absolute steal by the Twins.
  16. I am looking for only one thing, Cody, a W. Don't care how we get there and how well Bundy pitches, although it would be nice for him to have a decent outing. What I am looking for is a W and the Twins back at .500.
  17. You are ok and can see him tomorrow. There are no games on Monday, the starting pitchers listed were for Tuesday's games.
  18. Reading these comments left me with one question. Should the Twins need a fourth outfielder to actually play a lot this year, who should it be? I know they added Celestino to the opening roster, but would Contreras actually be a better option? Is it not true that Contreras plays all three outfield positions and was the best defensive outfielder in the organization (minor leagues only) last year? I understand that Celestino was outta whack last year because of the premature callup, but didn't Contreras hit better while they were with the Saints? Is it possible that Contreras would be the better player for the Twins, at least in 2022?
  19. So happy reading that the three hit batters (Lewis twice) for the Saints didn't sustain any significant injuries. Confirms that the Bats starter was wild, not head hunting because of the week long beatdown the Bats were receiving. Highlite today for me is seeing that Povich will make his first start on Tuesday. And real excited to see how Raya does.
  20. The more important question is how confident is Tyler Duffey in himself? He didn't look confident on that mound yesterday, even before he gave up two runs. Reminded me of how he looked a couple years ago.
  21. Move over Jose Miranda, there is a new sheriff in town. Granted, E-S has only played two games, but Holy Cow! Throughout history there have been players that step onto a field and arrive in the big leagues shortly after to put up unbelievable Hall of Fame careers. You know, guys like Willie Mays, Robin Yount or Mickey Mantle. As I follow all these young Twins, I annually ask myself could this young man have that type of future. Understand odds are he won't, but I sure as heck am asking myself that question about E-S this morning. And Royce Lewis is getting the job done in AAA like we would hope from a top prospect. With a wasted two years now behind him, it is going to be exciting to see how soon he arrives at Target Field. Jmlease1 hit it on the head when talking about SWR, who finally is looking forward to a normal season. Couldn't be happier for this young man who just may make all of us happy the Twins did that trade with the Jays last summer. After a summer last year where it seemed every other top prospect had a DNP, injured following their name it is exciting seeing the results from some of these young men.
  22. It sure would have been nice had that last flyball gone another what, three feet? But win or lose, it is one game, one of 162. I came out of the afternoon excited about two players, really excited. One was Duran. Holy Cow, what an arm. Yes, one game doesn't make a career, but this kid could/should be special. My second point is that Luis Arraez reminded us, especially those clamoring for him to be traded, that he also is special. Will give you an excellent at bat nearly every time he steps into the box. Gotta drive the opposing pitcher/team crazy as he battles deep into each at bat. I don't know about others, but I want this young man both healthy and in the Twins lineup about 150 times a year. Perhaps keeping him out of the outfield will help with those knees.
  23. Big Rogers fan, yet was concerned last year when he wasn't as lights out prior to going on the IL. Granted, the injury may have had something to do with that. Although I will miss him, as I suspect will the team, I understand the trade. I am also curious who the PTBNL will be? Or will that end up being cash, although if cash is an option it is usually stated when the deal is announced. Could this be a legit prospect? Or will it be more of a throw in? I know nothing about the Padres system, but am hoping it is a solid, young catcher.
  24. My prediction is Ryan goes 5 innings, allowing 1 run. Buxton and Correa each get 2 hits and score once apiece. Sanó is 1-4 with the hit being a long two run blast. Kirilloff and Kepler each come up with a big hit, helping the Twins to a 6-2 win!
