  1. Apparently he can block 3 teams/year: He’ll have limited no-trade protection, allowing him to block deals to three clubs each season. Additionally, Hughes will earn $200K each season for reaching 200 innings pitched. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/12/twins-to-extend-phil-hughes.html
  2. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS · 13m13 minutes ago  Bronx, NY phil hughes new $58M/5-yr deal is twins pitching record. also gets limited no trade clause & $1M incentives Anyone want to bet that the Yankees are on that no trade list?
  3. It is a good deal for the Twins assuming Hughes stays somewhat on track, Hughes seems to be one Californian who really likes Minnesota and he and Perkins seem to have some chemistry. Here's hoping they can lead this pitching staff back to respectability.
  4. You all have just answered the question: Why do some posters refuse to ever use stats in posts?
  5. Apparently the Twins brought in a large supply of rose-colored glasses along with Molitor, Hunter & Santana. Optimism is good -- fans should be optimistic in the off-season -- but I'm beginning to feel like I need hip-waders.
  6. Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale · 49m49 minutes ago The #Phillies, #Twins and #Astros are all biggest longshots at 150/1
  7. To me, this is annoying: Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN · 1h1 hour ago The Kansas City, Detroit, Cleveland and White Sox games are going to have a whole different feel to them in 2015. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN · 49m49 minutes ago AL Central pitchers include: Kluber, Sale, Price, Samardzija, Sanchez, Verlander, Duffy, Ventura, Quintana, Salazar, Guthrie, Porcello. Meanwhile, Hughes and Perkins are crying for companionship...
  8. Add to more names to the list of pitchers the Twins are interested in. One is Logan Ondrusek, a righthander who was non-tendered by the Reds after posting a 5.49 ERA in 40 appearances last season. The other is righthander Dustin McGowan, who was 5-3, 4.17 in 53 games (eight starts) with the Blue Jays last season. If the Twins sign Ondrusek, it might be to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training. http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/blogs/285120481.html Please note it is LEN3 who confysed two and too. Thought this was as good a place as any to add more names.
  9. Mostly I was hoping Hunter returning wouldn't happen .... and I had plenty of opportunities to express that on TD ... and did.
  10. http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/12/03/twinsights-torii-katrina-hunter-discuss-impact-political-backlash-job-search/
  11. Torii was already p*ssed over the defensive metrics question. Imagine that, a reporter actually asking questions,
  12. I think Torii's reaction to Berardino is a reflection on just how soft the TC media has been.
  13. There hasn't been an announcement yet because he hasn't taken his physical.
  14. What happened to the Berardino speculation that the Twins wouldn't go over about $5 million? $10.5m sure blows that all to h*ll.
  15. Well, now that I've read the Strib comments (at least the ones so far), I get what the Twins were hoping for -- almost universally positive,
  16. keithlaw ‏@keithlaw · 18m18 minutes ago Torii Hunter is barely a replacement-level player. This feels like the Ken Griffey Jr return to Seattle.
  17. http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/full/2014/11/23/26/1200000000AEN20141123000251315F.html?input=www.twitter.com May not be as expensive as first thought.
  18. They delayed the wedding date, though, so he could do Winter ball. I don't think they anticipated this,
  19. http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/11/13/twinsights-aaron-hicks-released-venezuelan-winter-team/ Not good news ... and have to wonder if there was more to it than a slump. Glynn was a coach so this could be interesting.
  20. Wow, I'm always amazed by your analysis, Parker and by how clearly you explain it. Also, it is becoming more and more clear that Jack Goin and his team have lots of work in front of them
