  1. I love atlases, dictionaries, encyclopedias -- there's something about seeing the printed version that is so much more rewarding that on line.
  2. Kids are always accepting so it was a great first choice for you. Thanks for sharing. Now its those appearances in front of adults that could be awkward!!! Best of luck to you this season -- and while I'm sure my fellow Iowans enjoy having you here, we hope you'll soon be promoted to Florida!!!
  3. Last night I happened to read this piece by David Ortiz from a few weeks ago: http://www.theplayerstribune.com/david-ortiz-on-the-record/ It gave me a little change of perspective. I wonder what he would write now about the latest 4. Obviously if this was something being pushed in the DR this winter, both he and Sano avoided it (or are really ahead of the drug testers). It also raises the question of whether there were tainted supplements and if so, were all batches of the supplements tainted or was it hit and miss?
  4. As I understand it, the Twins used the same basic spring training plan as in the past -- with just a few tweeks. They were again one of the last to begin, I believe. Perhaps they need to revamp those plans.
  5. Hicks is looking like he wants to be back in Minny. Another triple tonight and an OF assist. Probably more fun in Rochester but the pays a lot better in the TC.
  6. "Concur" as Chief would say. I would ask as I did in the other thread, what in the heck happened to the Twins belief in fundamental defense. It was as if it kept disappearing under Gardy and now has (seemingly? hopefully?) hit rock bottom.
  7. I do think we have to remember that they have faced some of the best pitching in the league. Not using it as an excuse so much as a plea for a little patience for the bats to come around. Yes, they have to be able to hit the best pitching at some point but I don't think we should be too surprised that they aren't at that point.
  8. I really looked at it for my own info more than the board. I knew that April was going to be rough and that it was all in the division - except Seattle which is rough anyway. What I didn't realize was that there are more games in the division in EACH of April and September than there are in June, July & August combined. The September/October schedule looks pretty normal to me but having so many games in the division in April seems a bit unusual (but then, maybe my memory just isn't good).
  9. Wonder if Hicks was pressing in those last 2 AB's trying to get a HR to complete the cycle. He had such a nice start to his day, it was a bit disappointing to see him end up with 2 strikeouts.
  10. April: 19 out of 22 games w/in the division May: 12 out of 27 games w/in the division June: 6 out of 28 games w/in the division July: 8 out of 25 games w/in the division August: 6 out of 28 games ;w/in the division September: 22 out of 28 games w/in the division October: 4 out of 4 games w/in the division There was a real premium put on a strong start. The Twins could be so buried by May 1 that even the anticipation of prospects won't be effective. Little room for playing spoiler until September.
  11. And on another light note, Rochester Red Wings ‏@RocRedWings · 8m8 minutes ago Aaron Hicks knocks in two more...this time with a triple and the Wings lead 5-1 mid 4. Hicks is 3 for 3 w/ a 2B, 3B & 4 RBI.
  12. Tomorrow is an off-day. A brief reprieve. But go ahead and round up some dragons for Wednesday.
  13. But where are the clowns? Quick, send in the clowns. Don't bother, they're here.

  15. I was on the phone and looked up to see this mess. Not sure how it all happened -- and not sure I want to know.
  16. I actually like GBA when it is sung well and when they do the verse as well as the chorus. But the use of the chorus in BB games -- often by mediocre singers -- has almost ruined the song for me. The whole song is very meaningful when taken against the build-up to WW2 (or any war but that was the background.)
  17. I'd prefer that they do away with it as well but at least this guy kept it at a nice tempo.
  18. Maybe the key is having starting pitchers whose last name starts with M ..... settle down, Alex Meyer and you could be next. Nice way to start, Trevor May.
  19. MLB apparently has a vendetta against the Twins: Patrick Reusse ‏@1500ESPN_Reusse · 2m2 minutes ago Joe West crew working this series. He's at first today. Torii better not check swing b/c we all know how the appeal will turn out.
