  1. Minor Leaguers: Absolutey agree changes are needed. TV Blackouts: While I sympathize with your position and believe that MLB will eventually have to make changes, I don't think this is an easy issue or that the commissioner would have an easy time acting unilaterally on this subject. The big paydays that many teams got from the regional sports networks may well have been based in part on the blackout policy. Any changes may interfere with those contracts and make some owners very unhappy,
  2. Wouldn't you think his agent would clue him in? On the other hand, he has 3 more secure years so why would the agent care? It isn't so much the LA love. A lot of players have the SoCal love -- Hughes, Plouffe, Milone, Jake Reed - but they all seem to understand who is paying them.
  3. Tyler Mason ‏@FSNtylermason · 17m17 minutes ago Terry Ryan was also asked about Mike Pelfrey in the bullpen. Ryan: "I'm more interested to see what he can do as a starter." #MNTwins Were those groans I heard?
  4. I think he's angling to be traded, Get a clue, Ricky. Pitch well the 1st half and maybe they'll be able to flip you.
  5. ricky nolasco ‏@RNolasco47 · 46s47 seconds ago Minneapolis here i come! Hate to leave beautiful sunny warm LA! #fanfest #freezing #ughhh #smh He should have been here last week. It's balmy by comparison now (at least in Iowa).
  6. Just going by the stats. he is similar in size to Johan Santana (a little lighter in weight but he's young). Would a healthy, younger Johan succeed in 2015? I'd like to think so. And I hope Berrios can dominate.
  7. There are only 3 open dates in the regular season in April so a 6 man might be feasible. But except for a series in Seattle, all of the games are in the division. Likely to be some snow, rain and cancellations. Plus, I want Hughes and Santana pitching on familiar days of rest.
  8. Neil Allen hasn't seen much af these guys yet. I'd like him to get a feel for them before decisions are made. I'd also like to get a feel for his (and Molitor's) decision-making. (Yes, I know that it will depend on the F,O,)
  9. I just hope he gets off to a better start this season, And I agree that Santana's presence may be beneficial, May also be helpful that Hughes did well. I'm a bit of a believer in good pitching breeding good pitching.
  10. But some manager (I think it was Molitor not Gardy) said this doesn't really matter. That after a couple of times through the rotation and given varying schedules, weather problems, etc.. you don't often get 1 v. 1, 2 v. 2, etc. Of course, playoffs are a different matter.
  11. I think WS championships are important and in the case of MacPhail, they were achieved when only 2 teams per league made the playoffs. I'll admit that the proliferation of playoff teams now make it more of a crapshoot but you do have to consider pre-1993 and especially pre-1969 championships more valuable.
  12. Rafael Rojas C ‏@rafaelrojasc · 11m11 minutes ago Oswaldo Arcia Back with #Caribes for VZ winter league semis. Mgr had practically scratched him but team just announced return @MikeBerardino
  13. The Twins will have to hire Rick Anderson to be Hughes' "mental coach."
  14. You're just heading south where it us warmer. It really does sound like a terrific event. Have fun everyone.
  15. I love these stories about the players you've hosted, Thanks for sharing.
  16. Back problems also plagued Arcia during the 2014 season, so it's concerning that they have lingered into the winter. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/9342/ I had forgotten this. But also, since Dec. 10, he has only played in a handful of games and hasn't taken BP that much. While playing in the post season might be good for his mind, I don't think it would be good for his body,
  17. That photo of Torii is a classic, Great stuff. Thanks for some chuckles on this cold, windy day. (And no, Halsey, I don't want to hear about 82).
  18. Nice article to get in the mood for Twins Caravan, Twins Fest and ST. This off-season has made me more hopeful than the previous few even if my posts don't always seem that way.
  19. You should check in to read RiverBrian's intros to gane threads -- they'll bring chuckles to your days.
  20. Thanks for the article. I'm don't think I'd have guessed that draft day was higher than Gardenhire but TD does seem to lose posters over the season. It is always interesting to see how TD changes and grows, I'm really looking forward to what happens when the Twins start winning more regularly and when more prospects are moving up.
  21. Lots of good quotes: http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/12/22/twinsights-highlights-phil-hughes-media-teleconference/ Hughes on whether new deal impacts his leadership responsibilities: “It may. I feel a little bit uncomfortable in that leadership role being last year a 27 year old. I have a feeling I’ll warm up to that a little more as we get going along. I’ve always seen a lot of guys that lead by example in my time and I’d like to be a guy that does the same.” Seems like he's been in the game so long that its a bit of a surprise that he would have felt that at 27 but glad to see him realize he is going to have leadership responsibilities although Santana's presence helps with that.
