  1. I'm happy that they were able to trade Correia and Willingham and to do so in a way that rewarded them for their service to the Twins. Best of luck to both of them with their new teams. Given that there were those here who were willing to simply DFA both of them, the returns on the trades are nice bonus even if they don't pan out for much. I'm also gratified that they have finally acknowledged the rebuild. I felt like the last three years they were in public denial. I still believe it is time for a new manager and until the Twins have one, I'm not willing to think much about "Wait til next year".
  2. I don't think it's a browser issue. I can change mine in chrome, IE11 and Firefox. It may be a "theme" issue - i.e. whether you are on Twins Daily 4.0 (the desktop/traditional site) or mobile 2.0 but I'm not sure that's it either. I wonder if it has anything to do with the number of posts you have? Wouldn't have thought so but now I see you're at 144 ashbury -- so maybe it isn't letting you change your member title until you reach a certain level?
  3. Rhett Bollinger ‏@RhettBollinger 5h Arcia said he tweaked his lower back on a swing in Friday's game. But that it's feeling better and he's taking BP in the cages today. Maybe just being cautious with him.
  4. I think Arcia is day-to-day with a sore back or side or something.
  5. So glad to see you finding the joy in just playing ball, AJ. I really enjoyed the article and look forward to more of your posts.
  6. So glad to see you posting here and looking forward to some more of your insights. Hope all is well.
  7. One less non-promotion for people to b*tch about. Great news.
  8. Wow, I was a little surprised to read this. I'd been following Hicks' numbers and knew that he had a great month (especially the period right before his promotion). Happy for him and hope to see him be able to translate it to AAA starting tonight. (I figure Tuesday night was a write off since no one on the Red Wings did well against Axelrod although Hicks did get his usual walk.)
  9. Well duh..... that tells you how much I look at footers. So are you saying we'll be seeing new features in 2 weeks or some new announcement in your life or the life of TD??? Now you've caught my curiosity!
  10. Brock, In thinking about some of the comments on this thread, I wonder if it might not be helpful to have a new thread where people talk about how they access/use TD. For example, I was surprised when I read twinssouth's comment just above me about the usefulness of the old home page. I use TD almost exclusively from my laptop. For both the old site and the new site, I have the main page as my home page on Chrome but in all honesty, I bet I don't spend 15 seconds a day on the main page. I almost immediately click on the "Forums" tab (I should just change my home page). I use the forums tab as my "organizer". By keeping it clean (i.e. by marking threads/forums read), I can immediately see if there is something new on a forum -- and that's where I jump in. I love that the mods are posting the articles right into the threads and I rarely look down the articles list. When I'm in a forum, I do glance down at the blogs list to see if there are new entries and will occasionally click on the blogs tab. I didn't even realize there was a "schedule tab" until I looked just now. The one thing that disappoints me is that I can't get to Jeremy's fine work from the forums tab - I have to go to the main page. Anyway, that's how I use TD -- and keeping those forums marked "read" so I can just jump to the new is important to me. I like the new design -- just wondering if others need to make some adjustments in how they access items on the site. Edit: I composed this before I saw the most recent dialogue with twinssouth.
  11. is it really the same, though? There seems to be something significantly different about 2nd and 3rd times through the line-up from the 1st. Unless you're thinking of him as a reliever, it seems to me that he really wouldn't get "the experience" from short starts.
  12. He appears to be on the Red Wings roster now (albeit without a number): http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=t_ros&cid=534&stn=true&sid=t534 So assuming he's joining them in Louisville - or if not there, in Indianapolis. But yes, it has been weirdly under the radar.
  13. Cory Provus ‏@CoryProvus · 9m FWIW...Aaron Hicks was transferred to AAA-Rochester yesterday. Rob Antony mentioned on Sunday's #insidetwins that he'll play all 3 OF spots. There was dearth of tweets about this. Apparently Mackey didn't even know: Phil Mackey ‏@PhilMackey · 12h And maybe I'm just being completely unreasonable, but Aaron Hicks is hitting .297/.404/.466 at AA. Shouldn't he try AAA again soon? He doesn't show up on the Red Wings roster yet.
  14. This is very unfair. Yes, he lost all confidence at the major league level but still he managed to post a .338 OBP which is pretty much average/above average for this Twins team. He briefly gave up switch hitting -- searching for a way to improve his performance and probably taking advice from a number of quarters. That experiment didn't last long. Since he has been at New Britain, he has been switch hitting .297/.404/.468/.871 and I believe that someone commented elsewhere that there isn't a huge disparity between the left and right sides. His line over the last 10 games is .371/.465/.657/1.122. Those slugging and OPS numbers tell me that he is hitting with more confidence because there has been an uptick in his XBH. Now he needs the next challenge. The Twins need to move him to Rochester in the very near future -- while there are still some games on the Red Wing's schedule.
  15. Gardenhire: “My preference is get (him) to Triple-A and see what happens there and see if he can dominate that with some veteran pitchers, some guys that spin the ball a little bit better than they do in Double-A. Get him to Triple-A and let’s see how he does there. Then you bring him up here. I think he still has to go there and prove that he can play there.” For me, the problem is that they aren't getting Hicks up to AAA. Hard to prove yourself if you aren't given the opportunity. Time is getting short. I really don't care one way or the other about the Schafer pick-up. I also think some of you are shortening the Buxton timeline far too much. I have to see him healthy and staying on the field before I can even make a guess about when he might be with the major league club.
  16. And really, Hicks should be moving up to AAA so that would have made some sense.

    Gardy's Culture

In honor of our recent songs discussions in the game threads, this is how I feel about Gardenhire: Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, here I am, Stuck in the middle with you, Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you, Stuck in the middle with you It's time for a change. No need to argue all the fine points.
  18. Well, it's pretty much better than anybody else on the team is hitting now (with apologies to Suzuki and Santana who are exceeding that "lofty" mark.)
  19. Did we lose the ability to choose a different font? I could do it a day or so ago but now I can only find size, color, attributes like bold, italic but no choice of fonts.
  20. We'll never know what they might have gotten because the TWINS will never know what they might have gotten if they had been serious about moving him. It's pretty clear from this Rob Antony quote that they weren't trying very hard to trade him: "We had some calls about him. There was some interest,” Antony said. “We were telling people we might get something done. We were trying to get something done. That was the No. 1 priority when it came to Suzuki was we wanted to keep him rather than trade him." http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/07/31/twinsights-twins-sign-kurt-suzuki-to-two-year-contract-extension/
  21. I was pretty ambivalent about signing Suzuki and still am ... I don't think its horrible but I did want to see what he might bring back in a trade and I do think his presence will probably impede Pinto (although I have no idea if Pinto can be successful). I am bothered by this quote from Rob Antony in Berardino's story: “We had some calls about him. There was some interest,” Antony said. “We were telling people we might get something done. We were trying to get something done. That was the No. 1 priority when it came to Suzuki was we wanted to keep him rather than trade him. “We would rather keep the known commodity and what we know about and are comfortable with.” http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/07/31/twinsights-twins-sign-kurt-suzuki-to-two-year-contract-extension/ It just seems to me that the Twins worry far too much about their "comfort level" especially when you are trying to rebuild a team and should be taking some risks. It also seems like they were sending out signals to other teams not to try too hard when it came to a trade.
  22. I know -- and really that is the biggest "Con" of this deal for me. We know how enamored Gardenhire is of veterans and if he is the manager, it just seems like he's going to stick with Suzuki.
  23. This is about how the Twins view Pinto and, I suppose to a lesser extent, Fryer but I don't think anybody ever thought of him or Herrmann as 1st stringers. It just looks to me like they don't have any faith in Pinto as a starting catcher. If that's the case, then the Suzuki move makes absolute sense because it will be 2 years (or close to that) before any of the catchers at the lower levels will be ready to taste the majors. Given what is expected to be on the trade market this winter, they decided not to have to worry about it.
