  1. Since Archer and Maeda can bolster the pen, I think we should focus on a starter like Montas or Castillo. Second should be one more reliever. Or if we have a major injury between now and the trade deadline we may need to trade for a short term replacement…..
  2. In the playoffs we should have Maeda back and he will likely be in the pen as a lights out reliever. Also if we can acquire a starter like Montas or Castillo then Archer will be in the pen too if he is not the 4th starter which I doubt. So I would focus on getting a playoff caliber starter then maybe a playoff caliber reliever. As long as we don’t have any more major injuries, we shouldn’t need anything else.
  3. Move Arreaz to 2nd let Killeroff play 1B. Done…. Then send down 2 pitchers. Probably Moroni and Megill
  4. You could write an article on our bench. Our bench has been light years ahead of what other teams benches are doing. Compare OPS+ from our bench to others.
  5. And because of this the Twins can go ahead and sign Correa to an 8 year 290 million contract extension. They will have plenty of money in the budget for the first half of the contract and they shouldn’t have to juggle too much the 2nd half of it. And if we can win the World Series so what
  6. Syndergaard is pitching ok for the Angels with a 3.69 ERA but with 5.8 strikeouts per 9 innings. He is also averaging a hair over 5 innings per start. He is on a 1 year 21 million contract. Should we trade for him and what would it cost to acquire him?
  7. If we trade for Montas, I doubt we trade anyone on the current roster who is contributing. I think a package of Steer, Martin, and Balazovich would be a good start. Steer and Martin are good prospects that don’t have a spot on our team. And Balazovich is a good prospect but struggling this season. We might add another prospect and get Trevino in the trade.
  8. I think if Bundy has 4 innings and 2 ER or 5 innings and 3 ER against the Yankees, I would consider his night a success.
  9. Let’s be accurate on Bundy. He had 9 starts with 3 awful ones. 4/29 6 innings with 6 ER. 5/4 3.2 innings with 9 ER 6/4 2.1 innings with 5 ER 12 innings with 20 ER. His other 6 starts are for 30 innings and 6 ER. While Bundy is walking a tight rope he is decent more starts then not. The implosion starts are a problem but if he can keep it to one per month and be solid the rest of the month, we will come out ok on his signing. While I do think he is the 5th starter at this point, he hasn’t pitched himself out yet. His start against the Yankees needs to be watched closely by Rocco and a quick hook like the one he gave Smeltzer in his last start may be needed. I expect Bundy should be able to go 5-6 innings against the Mariners. I expect Bundy to get more starts unles both Yanks and Mariners clobber him before 3 innings. Health and the ability to go 5 innings will buy you an extra 5-6 starts into July. I don’t expect Bundy to finish the season in the rotation.
  10. Also I think there will be some playing time opening up at 2B for Arreaz to get some games if Polanco doesn’t improve his results soon.
  11. I think a demotion to low leverage only situations is in order.. I don’t see the Twins releasing him either but there are better options internally at the moment.
  12. If the Twins get in as a wild card they will not be playing the Yankees thus improving their odds of ending their playoff loosing streak. I prefer the win the division but just sayin.
  13. If we still had Berrios we would probably still have Rogers too. The thing of it though is we followed Berrios since he was drafted as an 18 year old. It would be fun to have him spend his career in Minnesota. It looks as though Martin is on track to being a super sub player. The question will be can he hit enough for average or will he develop enough power to be productive? He gets lots of walks now but when he comes up and hits .250 how many walks will he get? a .315 OBP is not good enough to start if you do not hit 25+ HRs. Richardson-Woods seems like he will be a good starting pitcher for us. Rosterman is right in that Berrios won the trade. I think we lost it a little because we would have qualifying offers on Rogers and Berrios and would get draft pick compensation for them when they left this offseason and we would probably be a better team with them on it. But the final outcome is to be determined.....
  14. Who would be an honorable mention? Schoop? Wells (with Baltimore) .....usually we get a few who missed the countdown.....
  15. An 80+OPS hitting good defensive player on the bench who can play many positions including SS is valuable. Think Nick Punto. I can see a nice 3-6 year run with him as a backup. I do hope he improves with the bat a little more but I think he has done enough to keep his spot on the team.
  16. I imagine he is on an innings limit. I doubt they let him go much more than 100 innings this year. Or they probably have a more complicated pitch limit. Either way as a starter he should have a handful of 5-6 inning starts this year. If he does that and we want him on this team, he would need to come up as a reliever. The minor league season ends the last week of August maybe first week of September.
  17. “If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball”. Meaning if Martin can play SS he can play LF. I don’t see a need to move him now. But I do think the Twins should continue to give him time at other positions too. The Twins can make the decision when he comes up or in Polanco’s case a few seasons afterwards.
  18. I think Canterino should stay in AA until he has several games of 5-6 innings then he can go to AAA. After the trade deadline the Twins could promote him to finish out the season in the pen as a 2-3 inning pitcher pitching at most once every three days. This would allow the Twins to bring him up and limit innings while giving him time to build up his arm strength.
  19. I hope to see Miranda come in and add some intrigue to this discussion. He did hit better this last week. His strikeout rate is solid for a hitter. I think he is close now.
  20. The bullpen is in good shape at this time. Sure, we could always use an established reliever to help but I don't think its a top priority at this time. as it stands we have these guys in our pen. Pagan, Duffey, Duran, Theilbar, Smith, Winder, Jax, Stashak, Coloumbe. We also have in reserve to be called up if needed: Moran, Cotton, Cano, Megill, Rodriguez, Sands, Romero. a few on the injured list that could make it back this season: Alcala, Romero and we have pitchers in the minors who have yet to be called up: Canterino, Henriguez, Woods-Richardson, and Strottman I think if we can get Alcala back and or Romero, we will be fine. Also We will continue to have 14 pitchers on our staff which will help us manage the reliever's work load. Like I said acquiring a solid established reliever would be nice as you can never have too much pitching. However, it's not a necessity at this time.
  21. Real reason for low attendance: Chicks dig the long ball. MLB is suppressing the long ball. There are fewer chicks at games as a result. The guys are noticing so they stopped coming so they could go out to impress chicks.
  22. Then Correa is probably worth more to us then. I would keep him if we are contending and that is all we could get. I would start listening at 3 top 100 prospects. I would want to make sure we become a power house if we trade him while in contention. if we swoon and are out of the race that is different.
  23. I am fine with trading him if we can get a Hershal Walker type return (5 players and 5 draft picks) That trade set the Cowboys up for their 3 year run. Otherwise lets just ride the wave and have fun.
  24. top 5 is my vote. They are clearly in the 3-6 range in the league. You have the Yanks and Astros as 1 &2, with Minnesota, Anaheim, and Tampa and maybe Toronto are in the next tier.
