  1. A great way to pass Cleveland will be to kick them while they're down this weekend. Be patient with Kluber. Don't want him to go eight innings today. Throw low and inside to Ramirez, if he plays, and keep him off balance with that knee. Santana will make you battle, but don't give in. The rest of their lineup is pretty uninspiring.
  2. If Navarreto could add 70 to 80 points to his OPS from last year, I could see a situation where he is a dark horse for a call up. That's a tall order just to be a dark horse though.
  3. In theory, Berrios could pitch in every series except @ the Mets and still come home and start the first game of the second home stand. Gibson could be used sparingly or even stacked with Odorizzi or Pineda in a situation until he gets back to full strength.
  4. He signed late. He had an ailment that held him out even longer. He can't even put the bat on the ball 46% of the time right now. He'll probably be fine later, but that isn't who I would choose to start and bat 5th on Thursday.
  5. Astudillo should start at 3B and catch once a week. Work Gonzalez in when La Tortuga takes an off day after catching and then let him spell Schoop once a week until he's warmed up. If Austin doesn't make the team, then Garver can give Cron a breather at first once a week. Don't just play Marwin because he's making $10.5 mill. Free La Tortuga!
  6. Parker had a bad day, but his overall spring line looks pretty good sans ERA. Addison Reed should be shutdown. Take the loss and give one of these guys like Harper or Morin a shot.
  7. Austin has just 400 career PAs and a 100 OP+ to go with it. Not many hit the ball harder. I sure hope he can get a longer look.
  8. Nice write up ... Will have to keep an eye on Colina this year .... How was his command and control? He got the walks a bit high for awhile last season, but it seems that he's hard to hit.
  9. I guess they are doing a subscription service this year every month. You just have to decide by the 24th of each month if you want the next month. I like it. $49 a month to stand in the Two Gingers Bar and watch the Twins. No Hom Opener and No Mauer Day on 6/15, so 79 games for $294. https://www.mlb.com/twins/tickets/specials/twins-pass
  10. Are the Twins going to have any type of Spring Ballpark Pass this season?
  11. Who does Tyler Austin hit 40 HRs for this year? 1) Gardy 2) Yost 3) Renteria
  12. It could, but the key to these types of overhauls is getting buy in from the players. It will be easier with the younger players and the players that start in a system like this from day one. Perhaps this is another reason that the FO is avoiding much commitment in the FA world. The older guys are more likely to push back on someone telling them that "some dumb computer should be tellin' them the way to throw a ball".
  13. Expectations for Buxton and Sano are close to zero for me. I think the FO extended the correct players so far (just hope they are still talking to Berrios). With that said, I agree with Nick. A 701 OPS season from Buxton makes him a quality CF option. Even at a 650 OPS, you have to play him every day and bat him 9th. His defense and disruption ability on the basepaths make up the difference. If it gets worse than that, he probably becomes a LHP platoon option and late inning defensive replacement. I'm definitely not going to set myself up for more disappointment with these two. Lower the bar and you'll have a good time.
  14. I'm hoping for a modern day, completely unconventional and successful Wally Pipp-type story to unfold
  15. Yeah, just tripping and fumbling right into the back hallway of Apple stores. It's the Twins fault for not getting him a service dog who can see better. C'mon!
  16. This is what I love about this time of year. Just waiting to watch what potential can be realized with all these promising players. It's just so hard to see past the mountain at the end of the driveway right now (and to avoid getting clipped like Tom Smykowski).
  17. Johan Santana - Minor League Change-Up Development Instructor (They could call it Director of Player Pitch Variance Development for more prestige in the team program)
  18. While I would normally say that it's way too early to even entertain thoughts plug pulling, I do find myself slightly less quick to disagree with you on those two.
  19. Thanks, Nick. Are Trey Cabbage, Travis Blankenhorn and Andrew Bechtold pretty much not being counted on long term in the pipeline at this position? That's a lot of recent misses there at 3B, if that is the case. I only ask since Charles Mack is listed third and put up a .588 OPS in the GCL (albeit as a freshly drafted 18 yo).
