  1. Love the pitch clock (see Louie Varland) but I think the rule should be eased in over the course of next season. Maybe a couple warnings through May. One warning through July. Full rule enforcement in August and September. Playoffs? I don't know. Manfred Man needs to go, or, at the very least, it shouldn't be used until the 12th or 13th inning. I wish the hitters would just learn to adjust to the shifts, but I'm OK with adjusting shift rules for game balance. I don't care much for the larger bases. The Twins' disregard for defending or getting advantage in the running game will mean this rule hurts them more compared to other teams.
  2. He'd probably be fine on another team, but with this team participating or preventing base-running advantage appears to be an afterthought.
  3. If there is a stat for team base-running WAR, I'm pretty sure the 2022 Twins would be close to the bottom all-time.
  4. Perkins: "That's Twins base running in a nutshell. Could have been a sac fly, but it turns into a double-play.' ??
  5. Don't even need a hit ... Just contact and lack of stupidity
  6. They're just making Cave look good. He needs something to differentiate himself and keep a job.
  7. Yeah, that first pitch grounder for the third out was a godsend. He'll only get the 5th.
  8. Such a terrible showing, but Cleveland lost. Two games separate three mediocre teams from the one playoff spot that is handed to the ALC. With the intradivision play being reduced next season, it is not that hard to see a sub-500 team winning the ALC in 2023. That would be the ultimate joke.
  9. Pretty amazing debut for the young man. 10 pitch walk Home run (called by Joey Votto and analyzed by Barry Larkin) Another walk 9th inning double Scores a walk-off game winning run on a single by likely perennial star teammate Jonathan India. Apparently he was the first Reds rookie in 90 years to score a walk-off run in his debut. Forget about who will win the trade and all that. That's a special debut for Steer, and something that makes baseball fun to watch.
  10. Also, Joey Votto called Steer's first homer. In the booth, since he's out for the year.
  11. Link to MLBTR Article The former Twin prospect sent to Cincinnati as part of the Tyler Mahle trade should make his debut sometime this weekend. Here is a Reds Fan site article on how he could get into the lineup. UPDATE: Batting 7th and playing 3rd tonight
  12. 5-5 ... I think I'm being optimistic, but that seems to be about what they do ... There's a decent chance the White Sox boot one into the W column for the Twins.
  13. Good pictures! I'm still glad you took the time to type the thousands of words. The Fruity Pebbles Shrimp Po' Boy looks like one of the items that were cut from this Half-Baked movie scene.
  14. The draft is a crapshoot. I didn't care for the Cavaco pick. I don't think I was alone. I wanted the Twins to take Matt Allan in that draft. He ended up falling to the third and maybe signed above slot. He's been a health bust so far.
  15. It's exactly what they do when they bunt, quiet their swings or choke up and shorten their swings. It's sacrificing power to gain bat control.
  16. I need to get to more stadiums. Target Field is my #1 (sans late-night LRT nonsense) Otherwise, I've only been to: Wrigley Field Guaranteed Rate Field (back when it was New Comiskey Park) loanDepot Park (actually went to the very first game when it opened as Marlins Park ) Jack Murphy Stadium Kauffman Stadium (This is my #2) Metrodome I'm very impressed by all the TD members that have been to so many stadiums.
  17. Thanks again, Riverbrian, for writing this and sharing it. I've honestly never looked forward to posts on this site more after I got pointed here by Squirrel's status entry. I read the last entry waiting for a Dire Straits cover band to play at the State Fair. So I'll leave you with this ... Most of the time you were the windshield, but in Tijuana you were the bug. Sometimes it all came together, but sometime you were a fool in love with whatever piqued your interest at the time. Most of the time you were the Louisville slugger, but, perhaps for a time in Oakland, you were the ball. It all came together, and you didn't lose it all -- well, except, almost in Tijuana. Good stuff!!
  18. I hope HotD can get some more action and adventure into the next episodes. It's been 90% house politics so far. The jousting was cool. Dragons in the backdrop are nice. A girl talking about how she can wait until 14 to be "bedded" is disgusting (Yes, I know it's its own world with it's own social norms).
