  1. I like his attitude and confidence. He's put all on notice that he wants to lead this team to the promise land. Haven't had that in a loooong time.
  2. This certainly surprised me. However, I think it was best for the Twins for all the reasons already mentioned. We are approaching the time period where the FO will have their own people, so they are on the clock, at least from my point of view.
  3. I too have been frustrated this year with our "core." But one needs keep in mind they are still younger than of the others mentioned a Do you realize that those in which time has move on are actually younger than the others mentioned. This has been a very strange year in many areas of life. IMO definitely an outlier for much of it. Let's hope it is also for Buxton, Sano, and Kepler. As far as this year is concerned, the season got off on a wrong foot and never looked back. I am actually looking forward to next year. If this team can grow from this year we coul very well have several years of fun and winning baseball.
  4. I've enjoyed each and every one this season and look forward them in 2019. I thank you for all time you selflessly give to these for the benefit of the rest of us.
  5. I always thought the manager made out the lineup. So I'm going to place the blame on him for playing the walking wounded, and some on the players for not being upfront. I don't know how the injury reports are handled but if the FO is getting reports of injured players then some responsibility falls on them.
  6. Seth I was thinking how they ranked season stats against others n their league. In giving it more thought, these are monthly awards and tho comparisons I envisioned can be found with various MiLB rankings. So please ignore my suggestion.
  7. I really enjoy reading these each month. Just a suggestion, it would be interesting to see how they rank in their individual league. That would give us a view in how they are doing in the whole scheme of things and not in a smaller sample size. Maybe it would temper my excitement of them or enhance it.
  8. And my shoulders? Seriously, I really do enjoy your explanations of the various injuries these athletes suffer. Good job!
  9. Heezy thanks so much for your medical seminar for "dummies." Does his age or growth physical growth have any impact?
  10. Tom, that is a great idea and I would enjoy that. All of us, I'm sure, appreciate the hard work you all put into these summaries. Adding to that burden, or maybe a labor of love, doesn't make the process any easier. Again thanks to all the contributors.
  11. This sporadic season thus far is very frustrating. It seems there's something intangible missing to keeping the team on an even keel. I agree that the team leaders need to straighten this out. Is Dozier worried about FA that it's affecting his play? The loss of Polanco plus the injuries cannot be overlooked. The steadying influence of Santana seems to be missing. Regarding Buxton, I'd set him on the bench and use as a defense replacement for a few games. Creates a problem with who plays the field. Maybe just call up Granite, who should be up here anyway, IMO. I see he's off the DL now. Then platoon the two until Buxton gets going. Or bring back LaMarre.
  12. Should we revisit the usage or lack of tendencies of Molitor again this year? It may be that he has no intent of pitching Kinsey. I'm not at all excusing the Rule 5 debacle, but if the manager doesn't trust said player he's not playing. Therefore, you don't get a good indicator of any value.
  13. Excellent choice and congratulations to Tom and TD. This is the first, and often only, site I visit with my morning coffee. Now I get to have the pleasure of reading an improving site. Good job by all, including the TD community.
  14. As referenced by Ted, it's Sano's youth that gets me excited. As his maturity grows I think so will his performance. These next 4-5 years could be fun to watch.
  15. Are we looking at Lynn and Cobb with the same lens that we viewed Nolasco and Hughes signings? I'm not thrilled about either. Go with the current staff and work to get Gonsalves and Romero up. If there's a need later, I'm sure we have the prospects to trade.
  16. Good article, Nick. It's that time when the "new" Twins take over for the "old." Happens all the time and on every team. For me, I'm excited. As far as the new FO actions and motives, they have something this franchise hasn't had in a long time: quality prospects available in the minors. That alone makes these decisions clearer. And there is enough strength coming that some can be flipped to fill areas of need along with the FA signings. Even on the pitching front, next year we'll have May, Gonsalves, Romero, among others to challenge for spots.
  17. I would send Kinney back first. This process reminds me of playing some card games with my kids, like Spoons or Pig. As the cards are passed you try to get the best hand. Sometimes you have to change your strategy and hand because the cards aren't cooperating. I think they took a flyer on Kinney at the draft, but have seen other opportunities come along and are willing to move along with better options. So essentially, the draft of Kinney has morphed into Addison Reed.
  18. Mike, could you enlighten me with examples? On the rest of your post I agree, however, that falls upon us.
  19. I'm thrilled that the Twins have this problem and the lower tiers are jamming up also. We have been so used to AAAA filler for the last several years hoping someone would be the diamond (not Scott) in the rough, that I believe we've become somewhat doubting Thomases on their potential. Certainly the top 2-3 have the hype to produce. But even then I wonder if we don't undervalue Maybe it's my optimistic nature but I can see most of these guys contributing well in the MLB. And I personally think Slegers could become a decent starter in the next couple of years
  20. Well, with all of our guessing it seems no one has a clue. As others have said its been very difficult to read him and what will drive his decision. Just read an article by Matt Gwin at BP Toronto that seems to help me believe there really are no favorites. you can read it here: http://toronto.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2017/12/01/why-we-should-stop-acting-like-we-know-what-shohei-ohtani-wants/
  21. "If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say the Twins will be one and done at Yankee Stadium… I’d have at least 35 cents, and that is mainly because I don’t talk to a lot of people." Best line of the year, IMO. Great article to introduce a new era of playoff appearances. Being one of the old guys around here, this young team gives me confidence that past history doesn't matter to them. Win or lose, they are "family" (cue Sly). I expect a well played game. That's really all I can ask.
  22. Congratulations, Hector. It so great that one is charged to bring laughter, time, and an ear to others, especially the youth. Having positive role models like Hector will undoubtedly give some a new found excitement for life.
